Gillian and Dave did not talk much. They were not personable. They did not talk about themselves and she only talked about two of the songs she sang. I love her music, but their show was not dazzling at all.
A fabulous show in a very unique atmosphere! Her tunes weee an asset to the Majestic Theatre, which with Gillian Welch playing in house it truly was a magnificent magical and majestic night!!!
You can’t beat the Majestic. Comfortable close seating. Fantastic acoustics in a tight little theatre. And then you bring in two bluegrass specialists who sound like their playing unplugged in the shower with you. Harmony. Picking. Every note on display. Few artists have the skill and confidence to play so nakedly without four other instruments cluttering up the noise to mask any mistakes. Gillian and Dave sailed through the evening giving us exactly what we wanted, what we hoped for, and it was magnificent.
Incredible show in a wonderful venue. The crowd may have been the most respectful crowd I've ever seen at a show. Quiet and allowed the entire audience to experience the wonderful music of Gillian Welch. And for those fans around us, thanks for not singing along as people tend to do at concerts. All in all one of the best shows we've seen.
Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings once again provided the Dallas audience with a fabulous concert, followed by at least three encores, owing perhaps to the appreciative Dallas crowd's overwhelming enthusiasm. Their chemistry as a couple also played to their individual strengths - Gillian played her large acoustic guitar and sang most of the songs she wrote in a mellow alto voice, while Dave strummed and finger-picked his very unusual guitar in an almost classical fashion; holding it almost vertically as he usually does, and adding virtuoso solos as he seemingly "became one with his guitar" and caused the audience to break out in enthusiastic applause after every solo. It was virtually impossible to take my eyes off of Dave once he started those incredible solo riffs. Of course, Dave also sang harmony with Gillian, but he deferred to her throughout the concert and let her take the lead. These were her songs and she had top billing for this concert. Gillian provided low-key verbal commentaries between the songs from time to time that were laced with self-effacing humor and reflected her obvious and abiding love and admiration for David. They certainly play well together! I will never knowingly miss one of their concerts in the future!
Gillian was fabulous and so was her partner!! I would certainly go see them again!!! I'm not so enamored with the Majestic Theatre, however. It's very hard to see the stage because the floor is not angled steep enough to see over the heads of people in front of you, especially for short people like me!
The artists were exceptional, the venue was just the right size. I haven’t been to a better concert in 30 years. LOVED!
It was just the two of them this time. Mostly Gillian Welch songs, two David Rawlings, one Townes Van Zandt. Just beautiful - the music, their voices, the lyrics. May they keep recording and touring! I'll come every time.
This show was great. Gillian Welch has a great voice with a beautiful style. David Rawlings has his own style of picking with an excellent harmonies to add. The matchup of these two is incredible.

Gillian Welch is in my opinion the best songwriter on the planet. I love her naturally beautiful voice and David Rawlings plays the hell out of the guitar. Love them. The State Theatre in Portland Maine is my favorite venue for a concert.
Gillian Welch was wonderful, funny, and generous with her music....five encore songs! Dave Rawlings is a phenomenal talent, one of the best acoustic guitar players I have ever had the pleasure of seeing live. Really his albums really don’t do his guitar playing justice, you have to see this amazing and humble man master his epiphone on stage.

Concert was great venue needs air conditioning and better seats
The Moore Theatre was a perfect venue for this duo and the music they are conveying. I rate this as the best show I have seen in the last five years. Two people creating such great music that the encores just kept going.
Gillian and Dave were on fire. Loved every minute.
From beginning to end, this show wowed everyone. So much beautiful music poured forth from these two! Their harmonies and the way they played together soared like birds. They had a great patter between songs - funny but not too long - and they played and played and played! I loved every minute of it!
I've seen Gillian Welch and David Rawlings at least seven times and they NEVER disappoint. This last show at the Orpheum was no exception but it was probably THE BEST they've ever sounded. The first set featured a top-to-bottom set list from their album, Harrow and the Harvest, and the second set was peppered with some of their best work. It's just two guitars and two voices but the evening was exquisite, artisanal, epic.
One of the best concerts I have ever seen! No opening act, thankfully. They came out and played the entirety of The Harrow and the Harvest...to celebrate the new vinyl pressing of the 2011 great collection. Wow! They were in great form, good spirits, and Gillian seem touched when we all sang her Happy Birthday. Dave was...well, there aren't really words for how talented he is, is there? They popped off stage for 20 minutes and came back for another full set of perfect renditions of their own songs and some covers. They sang everything I wanted to hear and more. Multiple encores. You just can't ask for more. We were lucky to be there at the historic Fillmore...plus we got a poster and an apple for free! It was almost too much to take in!
Gillian is a master song writer and her vocals are par excellance. And, Dave Rawlings is an absolute guitar virtuoso- I play guitar and he is one of my heroes. This was an absolutely fantastic concert. One the best I’ve ever been to. I’d see them again and again and I hope they keep touring. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next as far as a studio recording.
