About

Hailing from Linköping, Sweden, Ghost B.C. released their second psalm INFESTISSUMAM on April 16, 2013 via Loma Vista Recordings. The offering debuted at #1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart and  SPIN hailed INFESTISSUMAM as "one of the most anticipated heavy metal records of 2013." Ghost B.C. recently wrapped up their Haze Over North America tour, selling out venues across the country. Loudwire described the sold-out Webster Hall date as "...unlike anything you've ever experienced", while San Francisco Weekly declared, "If you get a chance to see this band, we highly recommend it."

    This night of ritual

by MotherOfMercy on 9/2/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Was simply AMAZING!! So special to see Ghost in such an intimate venue. There was no barricade so I was leaning right up against the stage and my arms were in danger of being stepped on by Papa Emeritus II! Fantastic show with incredible friends. I won't soon forget this night!

The ban Ghost executes a rare combination of theatrical performance and musical ability that makes them worth tracking down. Get thee to a Ghost ritual!

    GHOST (B.C) is a must-see live!

by phunkydrmmr on 7/31/13The Music Hall In Williamsburg Brooklyn - Brooklyn

I first heard Ghost online before knowing what they looked like and I immediately fell in love with their sound. This is right before the first album, Opus Eponymous was released by Rise Above Records (of course, I got it on vinyl when it was released). It seems as if metal heads across the globe and fans of dark music in general gravitate towards this band for obvious reasons. If you are looking for a great live show, this is for you. Forget other pop so-called theatrical music spectacles that you have to pay $200 a ticket for, Ghost are as fun as any cheesy early 70s horror movie. Like something out of Rosemary's Baby, a tongue-and-cheek blasphemous flip and freak-out to the hypocrisy of organized religion. Forget about trying to explain what they sound like, most likely if you are checking live reviews here for Ghost, you know what they already sound like and what their trip is all about. This is the 4th time I have seen GHOST in NYC. The first time was unforgettable and never to be beaten, which was at the Studio At Webster Hall with Sabbath Assembly opening. Watching them take the stage while everyone knew every word to the first album was an indescribable feeling, it was their second ever live show in the US. Sort of the same feeling one would get from seeing any band that you know has something special displayed and conveyed, and you are in on a secret that is about to explode sooner than later. FFWD from that show, seeing them at Bowery Ballroom with Blood Ceremony and a free show (for me) watching them open for Mastodon/Opeth proved to me that these guys - you have to see as headliners and watch their full set to get their full effect. I unfortunately missed the Webster Hall show that just passed in May, I had to work that night, but seeing them at The Music Hall In Williamsburg more than made up for that missed show. Onto the Williamsburg show, it was an excellent one, the sound there was amazing. Very loud and crisp, most times when you are close at a show (I braved the front, as usual) you miss vocals and other PA stuff, but not at the old North Six. Awesome venue, I would recommend highly seeing a show here. Ghost as usual was great visually and played a good majority of their first album, which I am glad they did. The new album as well is excellent. The band is tight live, Papa Emeritus II was fully playing off of the energy of the room - it was interesting to see how many girls were actually in the audience, which usually at harder shows (not that Ghost is truly a metal band, but the core fan base is a good percentage of fans that like that genre) they are less to be found. It goes to show that Ghost appeal to both guys and girls which is a good thing for them because it is going to help them spread their word across a wider fanbase. I recommend seeing them before they blow up (which they already are) and end up playing bigger places opening for larger bands. Not sure how much longer they might play small venues like this one, I hope they always will do smaller headlining shows like this, but I think they are on their way up to doing mid-sized venues next time around like Hammerstein Ballroom - only time will tell. Bottom Line = go see GHOST even if it's just because you have a slight interest in them. If you have a slight interest in them, there is a reason why and that reason will be fully satisfied when you witness them live.

Glad I check these future metal icons. Music was awesome, as was their stage setup. Ides of Gemini were a GREAT choice for an opening band.

There's a new Pope in town

by Keegobot on 5/16/13Royale Boston - Boston

Last night in a large room full of overgrown haircuts, the occasional hotdog burp and an abundance of white guys in B.O. stained black t-shirts, I enjoyed an exhilarating performance by Ghost B.C. against a dramatic background of faux stained glass windows and incense. Nerds of all ages thrust their hands in the air with the zeal and passion reminiscent of a Jack Black solo. An 80-something George Carlin look-a-like twisted his ankle in some light sporadic moshing but the crowd was surprisingly courteous and lucid. Black lipstick marks branded plastic cups of $5 UFO. All eyes were on Papa Emeritus II in his skull makeups and full bishop attire who commanded the crowd with the poise, sophistication and grace of Frasier Crane. The Nameless Ghouls shrouded in black hooded capes shredded on electric guitar like it was Christmas Eve at the Tran Siberian Orchestra. Rays of colored lights flooded the stage in shades of red, green and blue adding to the excitement and intrigue. The melodious sounds of a pipe organ induced visions of Morticia Addams waltzing with Gomez and the circus like sounds of Secular Haze were the perfect background accompaniment for the Freak Show of imagery in my mind. I was standing among strangers grinning from ear to ear for hours. Not since Rosemary’s Baby have I seen such pleasant comradery among Satin Worshipers. Needless to say, I will be listening to more messages from the clergy.

by KBX666 on 5/15/13Webster Hall - New York

All that needs to be said is this band and their live performance are outstanding. We saw them in NYC, Philly, and DC, and now that I am home, I wish I had the time, money, energy, to go see them in Milwaukee and Detroit. Hell Satan!

    Ghost was so good.

by BuriedDream on 5/13/13Webster Hall - New York

What a great show. They are a great live band. Good to see them sell out the place too. A unique, refreshing band like them deserves attention. First time being to Webster Hall. Pretty good place to see a show. The stage was pretty high, which was nice for my girlfriend who can't always see around the monsters that always find their way in front of her. Also I kind of like the early start/ending. Allows for time to reflect, and if it was on a weekday this would especially be nice.

    Awesome show

by Palemonkey on 5/13/13Webster Hall - New York

Ghost played a great set (though they did leave out Zombie Queen), but who can complain when a band sounds that great and puts on that awesome of a show. I love the way Papa Emeritus interacts with the crown, this band really does show the love to the crowd. Awesome, awesome show.

    GHOST=AWESOME

by Edvonsloan on 5/12/13Royale Boston - Boston

GHOST put on a fantastic show, full of ritual pomp, theatrics and super-catchy Metal! The Royale is a neat venue, but there was an overwhelming stench of urine where we first stood. Whether it was the floor, or some hemp-bedecked bearded hipster, we couldn't tell, so we pressed on a little closer to the stage, the better to receive the Sermon that GHOST were delivering...

GHOST is a must see band!!!!

    by Opeth666 on 5/12/13Royale Boston - Boston

I've been into Ghost ( or Ghost BC as they are now called ) for a while now. I have both their albums which is a must own. Seeing them live just took it to a new level. They are a band that you don't know who the members are because the singer is dressed like an evil pope and the band members all where cloaks and masks. In the back of my mind I wondered " are they a studio band or can they really play live?" The answer is flat out YES!!! Check them out when they are in your town, you will have a blast.
