GERRY DEE ON TOUR:

Personal story looms large in the stand-up of Canadian comic Gerry Dee. A former sportsman and physical education teacher, Dee's act draws heavily on the comic potential of institutional learning and the inherently funny dynamic of teacher and student. As a finalist on the 2007 season of NBC's Last Comic Standing, Dee more than proved his performance chops, beating out most of the competition to take home 3rd place. With his hit sitcom Mr. D entering its third season, Dee is sure to be sharper than ever on The Real Mr. D 2014 Comedy Tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Ontario, Gerry Dee played varsity hockey and golf at university before going on to become a physical education teacher. His experiences coaching young athletes and students provided him plenty of fodder for his stand-up act, and in 1999 he was named Toronto's Funniest New Comic.  After deciding to pursue comedy full-time, Dee went on to win numerous comedy competitions and prizes in the '00s, including the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition in 2002 — an honor he shares with comic legends Robin Williams and Ellen Degeneres. After a successful appearance on the 5th season of NBC's Last Comic Standing, Dee launched his namesake sitcom Mr. D on Canadian television in 2012, announcing its renewal for a third season in 2014.

  • Don’t waste your money

This was a terrible performance! I watched his show about 25 years ago at a yuk yuks and he was one of the best I’ve ever seen. This was one of the worst stand-up acts I have ever seen! If it wasn’t for my wife, I would’ve got up and walked out, but I didn’t want to ruin her evening. He stared at the ground for 90% of his show and at the end I thought he was going to turn and run when he left the stage… he couldn’t get out of there quick enough.

  • A funny night out!

Gerry Dee was very funny! We enjoyed a night out full of laughter! He was clean, not raunchy. His improv was hilarious! Wish he was a bit longer, but we would definitely go see him again. Dillon? His opener was very funny too!

  • Seats much too narrow!

by LinK on 5/6/25Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Really enjoyed the opening act and Gerry Dee! Five stars for us but would like to have seen an on time opening for the show. The venue's seats are much too narrow and close together-except perhaps for most children. The seats are comfortable but heaven help you if a broad shoulder individual sits next to you!

  • Disappointed

by Lisa on 5/6/25Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

Honestly, I was disappointed in Mr. D's performance. I felt like there was a lot of "dead air"in the performance and I was really hoping for more time spent on teacher material. I would say over 70% of the event goers were teachers.

  • Funny but way way too short for the money.

by Maddy Murray on 3/11/25Molson Canadian Centre at Casino New/Nouveau Brunswick - MonctonRating: 3 out of 5

These events need to be 2 hours long at least. The first act was okay and the main act was 60 minutes and ended very abruptly. Just felt very disappointing. I would never recommend anyone waste their time or money. The long lines at the bar were not very helpful and conducive to having a good evening as well. I was really looking forward to the show and having a laugh but it was definitely lacking something.

  • Great show- poor seating

by Carl on 3/11/25Molson Canadian Centre at Casino New/Nouveau Brunswick - MonctonRating: 4 out of 5

Show was fantastic. Opening act was great and Gerry Dee was hilarious. The seating wasn’t great. The chairs were extremely close together and you were basically touching shoulders with the person next to you. I also did not realize that the section I had chosen was on the floor, therefore very difficult to see the show.
