Gerald Albright was great!! It was a wonderful show
I had never been to the Birchmere before and only heard Gerald on Cd's. I took three friends who like this genre. We had a wonderful time - GA is quite the entertainer and very talented as were his band. We even enjoyed the dinner! Great time - will look to do this again.
We enjoyed the show from beginning to end....very entertaining!
Gerald and his band was the TRUTH!! The kat on the keyboard got a lot of shine because I assume he and Gerald have been together a hot minute and have collaborated on a song or three- but that DRUMMER!!! That dude was a BEAST!!!
Great show!!!! Great music and great energy from a veteran performer.
One of the Best Nights of Musical Entertainment We've spent in a while. He is not only a brilliant musician, his stage persona and style make you feel like he is playing only for you!!!...He is great...would not hesitate to see him anywhere!!
Simply put if you are a Gerald Albright fan you know what he can do. If you are a smooth jazz fan, he is one of the best! If you are just a fan of just good quality music....i.e. musicianship...then Mr. Albright is someone worth experiencing live! Also this guy has a pretty good sense of humor as he interacts with the audience. Also I went to iTunes before leaving the concert to start to download music from his new album.
In the early 1900's, when saxophone playing was exploding in the US, many religious leaders attacked it and those who played it for creating a sexually active atmosphere that could lead to sin--The Devil's Horn. Lucky that Gerald Albright was not around then for they would have burnt him on a funeral pyre. He and his talented colleagues do nothing but create atmosphere, fast or slow, loud or quiet. They moved everyone in the sold out house at Birchmere. I have seen Gerald perform twice, and look forward to his next DC area visit in February at Blues Alley. He also connects with the audience in the dialogue between songs, making everyone feel as if he is personally playing for him/her.
My wife and I so enjoyed the performance. Gerald is a true performer with his eye on the crowd at all times. 2 solid hours of jazz at an affordable price.
The show started on time. Gerald was fabulous as always. I attend the show every time he performs at Birchmere; the venue has an intimate lounge style, and the room is situated so that there is not a bad seat in the house. Plus the food is delicious...great time as always!!
In every aspect this was a superior performance. Great stage presence and interaction with audience. Musicianship=impeccable
The whole group with Gerald Albright played excellent. Couldn't ask for better
I must say, Gerald performed on Key! His band was great and the sound acoustics was on point. Great time to be had with my lady. Food was good as well to my surprise. The only draw back was the seats as after a hour they were a bit uncomfortable sitting at the tables but other than than, just excellent over all.
It was a great concert. We didn't expect it to go for as long as it did (because it went longer than most concerts we went to) and all 3 performers performed flawlessly. I love Gerald Albright playing his old school favourites. Norman Brown paid all the music we loved and Alex Bugnon was a pleasant surprise. The only downside was that the venue had a power cut earlier on and so it was a bit cold. The venue's toilet could also be better situated and they need more.
Concert was awesome! Enjoyed every minute of the night. All three were so amazing! Thanks for a wonderful night of entertainment.
Again the concert was great i enjoyed everyone equally. I am looking forward to seeing other artist at this venue. I did experience one problem though the seating arrangement people were in our seats and from other people talking that was a common problem that day!!! Other than that Storming Norman , Gerald and Alex gave a Great Show
What a fun time! The Macomb Music Theatre is very charming and the whole event was delightful. Of course since I'm a huge sax fan, my favorite is Gerald Albright but he was the last act and it was after 10:30 pm by the time he played so many of the patrons had already left which was a shame that they didn't get to enjoy him.
It's was a great show never seen any of the artist before can't wait to see them again...
Excellent show ! Each perform as they were the only headliner.
This was the worst concert I have been to. Three musicians played one hour each with too much time between artists. This concert was 4 hours & 40 minutes long!!! Sounds good a paper, but not when you are sitting shoulder to shoulder in chairs!! Many people had left by Gerald Albright's performance, which began at 10:40pm.We thoroughly enjoy Gerald's music and he was the reason we attended this event. I feel bad for Gerald as much of the audience had left...what an insult to him! The reason people left is because the concert had dragged on way too long..unfortunate for his perfromance! Norman Brown was great and Alex Bugnon we enjoyed. I hope the organizers/promoters of this event learn from their mistakes. We will never return to this beautiful theatre if this is the way concerts will be conducted.
