Georgetown Hoyas Women’s Basketball at McDonough Arena
McDonough Memorial Gymnasium (sometimes referred to as McDonough Arena) is the longtime home court for the Georgetown Hoyas women’s basketball team. Named after Reverend Vincent J. McDonough, S.J., who served as Georgetown’s athletic director from 1916 to 1928, the venue also honors late Georgetown men’s basketball coach John Thompson Jr. with the playing surface dedicated as the John Thompson Jr. Court in 2020. The 2,200-seat arena served as the Hoyas’ on-campus hub for athletic programs starting in 1951, and it’s attached to the larger Thompson Center athletics facility, which opened in 2016.
