Gentlemen's Rule was fun. My kids, 13, 10 and 8, enjoyed it as Gentlemen's Rule sang some very current music which kept their attention. The encore, the Adele song Someone Like You, was really one of their best. As for myself, I have sang in good acapella groups for most of my life and have to say that Gentlemen's Rule struggled musically. Their bass, Luke, has an impressively deep tone, but his tuning was very inconsistent and it threw the whole group off in several songs, most notably, In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel which really trainwrecked. On a positive note, the 80s medley was a highlight for me, maybe because that is my era, but the songs were solid, in tune, and allowed the guys to relax and enjoy performing. Holland's voice was a stand out for me, a beautiful baritone, like warm, melted chocolate :) Jesse has a great voice and an outstanding stage presence - really fun to watch (my kids favorite) and Andrew, well, he is going to be a broadway star some day. With such a strong solo voice, I was impressed that Andrew could blend into the group so well. And Will kept the energy of the group going, but sometimes overdid it a bit - making exaggerated motions when no one else was and his foot stomping on stage was distracting. Loved both original songs!
Bottom line is that Gentlemen's Rule has potential, but the first order of business is to make sure the tuning is absolutely perfect!
