My husband and I traveled from Kentucky to Washington D.C. to see Gato Barbieri play at the Howard Theater. This was not only an amazing show but we got to go back stage and meet this legendary, gracious and amazing man. I will remember this forever. Gato did not disappoint!

This was my 4th time seeing Gato and as usual, extraordinary. A bit bummed he didn't play Europa though, I wanted my husband to hear it live.
I have seen Gato on three previous occasions. I don't like Sunday night concerts when the weather is good as it cuts the day in half to come in and see an act. For Gato it was a no brainer. Each prior show was first rate in all respects. Unfortunately this time he simply went through the motions and was uninspired. He was technically fine but had no contact or rapport with the audience. He came, did his act, no encore and left. Listening to any of his CDs would have given you the very same experience without the hassle of traveling and without incurring the expense of the tickets. He hardly acknowledged that there were people who paid to see him. It was as if you were sitting in on a practice jam. The music itself is great as are the musicians. All other factors that are important at a live performance were absent.
Gato played beautifully despite his frail physical condition. Could not have imagined a better performance.
The music was outstanding and the intimate atmosphere of the venue greatly added to our enjoyment. It was the quintessential NYC jazz club experience.
Gato Barbieri was amazing!! Being at the BB King Blue's in New York was the best concert I've ever been to. I cried as soon as I saw Gato walk on the stage!!! I traveled from Los Angeles, California to New York City to here this wonderful man play beautiful Jazz music!! This man is a legend and I will never foregt him!! i was blessed to get a picture with him and give. I love him!! He will always have a special place in my heart. As far as the BB King's Club goes, I would give it a thumbs up! The food and drinks were quality and the people there were of class and love. I would do it all over again if I could!!!
Wonderful show. Would recommend to everyone. Great for young and more mature...
For all you jazz fan Gato Barbieri put on a great show you would not be disappointed, the years have caught to him but he sounded like he was 21 againg.
We came from Los Angeles to see him perform live and we were blessed enough to meet him in person. He gave a great show!!!
Love the place feels like the movies from the 50' feels like New York City specially with the jazz and the great saxo of GATO.......
This was a great concert. Mr. Barbieri might be 76 but he plays as he always did. The music was fantastic and the venue was pleasure.
Gato Barbieri is a true artist and an outstanding musiciain. Gato doesn't play in New York as often as he used to, so don't miss him the next time he's in town. I've never been to BB King's before and it was a wonderful venue to see Gato in -- sleek, dark and sexy -- perfect setting for Gato's music.
SAW GATO LAST YEAR AT THE BLUE NOTE. HE WAS SPECTACULAR. I JUST HAD TO SEE HIM LAST NIGHT AT B.B. KING'S WHERE HE MOST CERTAINLY WASN'T. WHAT WAS MOST DISAPPOINTING WAS THAT HE KEPT WALKING OFF THE STAGE SEEMINGNLY IN A TRANCE NOT KNOWING WHEN TO END THE SHOW. HE WAS ALSO OFF NOTE MANY TIMES. HIS BAND MEMBERS ALSO SEEMED TO BE COAKING HIM TO KEEP PLAYING, AND HE KEPT SITTING DOWN AND PLAYING SOME MORE. HIS MOST FAMOUS AND SPECTACULAR SONG "EUROPA" WHICH I HAVE ON MY CD OF MOST FAVORITE SONGS EVER, HE NEVER PLAYED. EVERYONE WHO KNOWS GATO CAME TO HEAR EUROPA. NOT PLAYING IT IS UNFORGIVABLE. ALI STAYED IN THE RING TOO LONG TO HIS OWN DEMISE. GATO MAYBE PLAYING CLUBS TOO LONG TO HIS AUDIENCES ULTIMATE DEMISE I'M SORRY TO SAY. FROM NOW ON I'M STICKING TO THE CD BECASUE I WANT TO REMEMBER GATO FOR THE AMAZING SAX MAN HE IS.
2 hours of incredible jazz, what could be better. He may be almost 75, but Gato still knows how to bring it! "Europa" (my favorite Gato Barbieri song) sounded just as good this time around as it did the first time I heard it.
Gato was just fantastic performer on stage playing his crisp clean sax sound. He played all his classic hits for more then two hours!! I enjoyed the venue, food and the music!! It was great cool night in Richmond and worth every dollar of admission!
Gato has been making great music for a generations of people to enjoy for a long time.
