    Heartpounding

by DoctorTChicago on 5/24/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

This is simply the most incredible show, visually, musically, rhythmically, interactively, magically I've ever seen. Prepare yourself for some real surprises. You won't be seating in your audience seat. Be ready to be part of the magic dream.

    What?

by jojovo on 5/24/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

Overuse violation on most scenes. They seemed meaningless and repetitive. Music was invigorating and fun. Either I am not cerebral enough to grasp the idea or the producers are laughing every time a chump buys a ticket.

    Most unusual event

by DickH on 5/24/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

Just being on the Auditoreum stage was a great feeling having seen many ballets here. Fuerza Bruta is pretty unique with the action all around you and up close. Never a dull moment and the plash pool with artists performing in it that lowers within touching distance of your hands is amazing as were all the scenes. Cool bar setup in the foyer as well.

    Not worth the money

by willjljl on 5/24/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

Overall the show was just ok. The only thing that made the overall show ok was that the waterplay was very new and creative. Also, the music was very good. The entire rest of the show was "so what, I don't get it". If the ticket prices were 35 dollars instead of 80, I might have felt I got my monies worth. The supposed "grand finaly" stunt at the end was botched, the prop person had to go up and delay the stunt to get the lanyard right and the actor was too high to bust through the wall at the right spot, half his body was over the top of the wall when he hit. Even if it was done correctly it was a "weak" grand finaly anyway.

    Fuerza expectations

by MilwaukeeBootz on 5/23/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

My expectation for Fuerza Bruta was some imaginative and brilliant performance art with a little Dance Party mixed in... Well... I got a Dance Party with a little performance Art Mixed in. I like to go to "outside the box" performances because they challenge my ideas and let's face it... a dance party is not outside the box. The show met my expectations, though didn't maintain them throughout. There were some technical difficulties at the end, but the show still was a beautiful, fun, sensual, sexual, erotic, confusing, annoying, trite, eclectic, eccentric, non-sequator memorable evening.

    Save your money!

by IAMKate on 5/23/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

It's like Cirque du'Soleil without the talent. I appreciate these are talented dancers, and that was evident in several vignettes, but talented dance for 10 minutes at a time does not a good show make. There was no story, try as I might to assemble one. There was no human relationships between the cast members. There was no reason for most of the choices made barring the fact it would, "look really cool." And it did. As such, I recommend you look at the archive photos and marvel at their ability to create stunning images. But there is no reason to attend. It's not worth the money to marvel at a spectacle you could see in photos. There is not enough of a unique and worthwhile experience to appreciate attending. That being said, if you attend, stand in the center of the stage. It's the only way you won't feel isolated and bored.

I've never seen anything like it, and I mean that in a good way. I felt like I was in a club and it was one, big, interactive party! I really enjoyed myself.

Fuerza Bruta NOT TO BE MISSED

by PacoF on 5/23/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

This was an unbelievably creative and powerful experience. It was primal and stirring and stunning. It was one feat of brute strength after another. This was a beautiful experience that evoked a very wide range of emotions from the audience. It is basically without a plot, but my fellow theatergoers and I had much to discuss later about the symbolism of the individual components and the piece as a whole. DO NOT MISS THIS!

    Amazing experiences

    by WendyL7 on 5/23/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

This was completely different and mezmorizing. There was so much going on and it was not like anything I've ever seen before. It was performance art and means something different to everyone. There isn't a definitive story line, but this does not impact the enjoyment in any way. Since it was so abstract, we had LOTS to talk about over dinner after the show. There were 3 of us in our party and none of us are big fans of club music. We knew that this was the type of music that is used during the show but it was perfect, not annoying in any way. It really helped boost the enjoyment which surprised all 3 of us. Go see this show, it is completely different and worth the ticket price.

    Fuerza Bruta a

by DayBed on 5/23/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

One word: AMAZING. It was great and if you get a chance you need to check this show out. Definitely not your normal show. Its about an hour long and you stand the whole time but trust me its worth it. The crowd moves during the show to conform with each act and is actually apart of the performance.

Fuerza Bruta was better than Blue Man!

by Manzilla on 5/22/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

I was brougt back to my own memories of the "Lime Light" club with the wild back beat thumping and the level of sound above ear bleeding ... people just cutting loose and having fun; whether they can dance or not. The troupe beat blue man group and cirque all to hell. what made it fun was the racuousness and cantankerous contagious viral rhythm of the music, the dance, and the free spirit of the actors. Whoever took the the time to write this must have had a background in applied materials, chemistry, and been on a mixture of LSD+shrooms!!! Great time and had a blast. If you can stand up the entire time than this is for you.

    Dance, Jump, Paper

    by PrincessPatty13 on 5/22/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

You really have to love the arts in Chicago. We have all we could want at our finger tips. This show was so amazing and true to the reviews we found on youtube. They did a great performance. Really worked the audience participation. So if you decide to go to the show don’t worry about being the first person in the theater, the show will come to you so be in the later half to enter the theater. Do not dress up because there is water and paper that hits the crowd.

    Fuerza Bruta is inspiring

by Lykalane on 5/22/10Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

Being an avid fan of De La Guarda and seeing that show four times in 1999, I was waiting years for the next show to arrive. When Fuerza Bruta came out in NYC, I bought my plane ticket and flew from Chicago to NY just to see it. As an artist and arts educator, this show is truly inspiring to me. With an exhausting year of teaching and one month left to close the school year, this show gave me the energy I needed to finish out on a positive note. It's something you don't want to watch on DVD. You need to experience this live. The performers are incredible, the music is riveting, tribal as well as pensive. This is my third time seeing Fuerza Bruta and it's probably not my last. Everyone walks away smiling.
