Freestyle show just average
by JennLaT on 10/4/11Dunkin' Donuts Center - ProvidenceThese were oldschool artists who were big when we were all growing up and coming of age. They had dance hits back in the 80s and now it's better known as freestyle music. The lineup included Johnny O, Cynthia, Expose', Freeze, George Lamond, TKA/K7, Lisa Lisa, and Brenda K. Starr (not in that order). Didn't care for the other acts they put in as fluff, like the M.C. always talking and constantly mentioning local vendors and sponsers. And the other unknown dancers they put in to kill time. Slightly disappointed that we were told that night that Stevie B. wouldn't be in attendance. Wasn't crazy about the show not starting on time. It was supposed to start at 7pm and started around 7:30pm. Although it was good it didn't start exactly on time since alot of us were still arriving and waiting to go through the gates. Didn't like how late the whole show ended, around 11:30pm. But, knew this going into it since I had been to 2 other Freestyle shows before. Stage was nothing fancy. No decoration, other than a Freestyle Rush Tour poster that they put up on the DJ both, after it had already gotten started. Surprised how security was lax and didn't mind anyone going onto the main floor, even if you didn't have a floor seat. There were hundreds of seats not filled in sections below us, so many of us moved closer as the show got underway. No one seemed to care or mind. Why pay for a seat that's back in the nosebleed section, when you can have the 1st row, right above the floor for the same price? I was bummed they didn't sell any memorabilia. I was looking forward to maybe buying a souvenir t-shirt or cd. But, they weren't selling anything other than snacks and beverages, which we didn't buy since we had dinner nearby just beforehand. Overall show was just average. I had seen other Freestyle shows at Mohegan Sun that I enjoyed a little better.
