    Freestyle show just average

by JennLaT on 10/4/11Dunkin' Donuts Center - Providence

These were oldschool artists who were big when we were all growing up and coming of age. They had dance hits back in the 80s and now it's better known as freestyle music. The lineup included Johnny O, Cynthia, Expose', Freeze, George Lamond, TKA/K7, Lisa Lisa, and Brenda K. Starr (not in that order). Didn't care for the other acts they put in as fluff, like the M.C. always talking and constantly mentioning local vendors and sponsers. And the other unknown dancers they put in to kill time. Slightly disappointed that we were told that night that Stevie B. wouldn't be in attendance. Wasn't crazy about the show not starting on time. It was supposed to start at 7pm and started around 7:30pm. Although it was good it didn't start exactly on time since alot of us were still arriving and waiting to go through the gates. Didn't like how late the whole show ended, around 11:30pm. But, knew this going into it since I had been to 2 other Freestyle shows before. Stage was nothing fancy. No decoration, other than a Freestyle Rush Tour poster that they put up on the DJ both, after it had already gotten started. Surprised how security was lax and didn't mind anyone going onto the main floor, even if you didn't have a floor seat. There were hundreds of seats not filled in sections below us, so many of us moved closer as the show got underway. No one seemed to care or mind. Why pay for a seat that's back in the nosebleed section, when you can have the 1st row, right above the floor for the same price? I was bummed they didn't sell any memorabilia. I was looking forward to maybe buying a souvenir t-shirt or cd. But, they weren't selling anything other than snacks and beverages, which we didn't buy since we had dinner nearby just beforehand. Overall show was just average. I had seen other Freestyle shows at Mohegan Sun that I enjoyed a little better.

Started late .....after watching uncorigraphed girls wearing a bathing suit..listening to advertisments....& not hearing the singers but seeing them give their all asked for a refund was told I couldnt as I already checked in,I explained it wasnt due to stevie B it was the sound & lights.....tried to stay even bought a few $10 drinks. anxiety kicked in, Finally left as i was leaving so were a few others so I know it wasnt me. Very dissapointed as I love ALL the Artist & Enjoyed PPAC last year.

    Disappointed

by Mairah on 10/4/11Dunkin' Donuts Center - Providence

Stevie B got arrested the night before and since he's the main act I was already disappointed because he wasn't there. Then to fill in for the absence of an act they dragged it on with lots of talking and music by a DJ. I did not pay to go see a DJ play music but live acts. The audience was not as excited as in past years and the mood was just not there. Also the sound and volume of the music was terrible. Please bring it back to the PPAC.

A mistake on so many levels

by Anonymous on 10/3/11Dunkin' Donuts Center - Providence

So it was quite early in the morning when I received an email from ticketmaster.com offering an early purchase on the "Freestyle Rush Tour". I thought I was buying tickets to see the band Rush, and since it was my husband's favorite band I was getting a jump on everyone else. I got great seats! Well, it turned out to be a mistake, as I had inadvertantly bought tickets to this show and ended up revisiting an era of dance music that was never good then, so why should it be good now?

    Freestyle disaster!!

by Lissa15 on 10/3/11Dunkin' Donuts Center - Providence

The concert was like watching a poorly planned elementary school talent show. We decided to stay even after being told Stevie B. would not be performing. What a waste of time! The sound system was horrible and the whole event was completely disorganized.

    freestyle was ok

by salsa501 on 10/3/11Dunkin' Donuts Center - Providence

The Freestyle concert was ok. Big disappointment that Stevie B wasnt there but the biggest disappointment was that there was too much talking. The emcee or whoever was hosting this was talking too much. I dont really care that he was tired and I dont think I go to those sponsors cuz he was obnoxious!!!

Where to begin?? Well, Stevie B one of the headlining acts did not perform because he had been arrested the night before. That set off the night on a bad note. The venue was freezing, the sound system poor and the emcee of the event talked way too much and kept plugging the sponsers of the event repeatedly. I will say that on a positive note, the performers were all excellent. Cynthia, Expose, Brenda K. Star, Johnny O, Lis Lisa and the various dancers were very entertaining and brought back many fond memories of the 80's. This show should go on but needs quite a bit of polishing before it can be truly professional in presentation and get a higher rating.

Brenda K Starr, Expose and Lisa Lisa were amazing!

by jb147 on 10/3/11Dunkin' Donuts Center - Providence

It was a great show, but It was lacking without Stevie B and the equipment wasn't fantastic which I think worked to the singers detriment. Everytime the singers got too close to the speakers there was a high pitched squealing noise and the microphones kind of sounded tinish and crackling. With better equipment that show would have been amazing. It was a great group of performers.

This one definitely was one of the best !

by KThurz on 10/3/11MassMutual Center - Springfield

I have been going to see the Freestyle Extravaganza concerts here in Ct for the last 6 years. This is the first one i have seen in Mass. I have to say, not only because i had seats on the floor but it was probably the best one i have gone to. I have always said that A Freestyle Concert should be ALL freestyle artists, there is certainly enough of them, that could fill the ticket. Don't get me wrong, I like old school music but NOT at a Freestyle Concert. Great Job! and the afterparty was awesome.

    Worst concert ever

by DontBinaRush on 10/3/11Dunkin' Donuts - Providence

This was by far the absolute worst concert I've ever been to. I thought the entertainment "production" team put on the most unprofessional show. I still don't understand why there were 20 extra people on stage. They just stood there being distracting. The MC or whatever his name was kept plugging in local advertisers. NOTE TO THOSE ADVERTISERS: I have no idea who you are because the sound quality was awful. Must be the reason why most of the artists were lipsyncing minus Stevie B because he wasn't acutally there. There's not much good I can say about the show unfortunately. I guess the best thing on that stage were the dancers who were pretty close to wearing nothing. Overall, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. You'll have a better night listening to the albums in your car!!!

    Great music, terrible venue

by bradyapba on 10/2/11MassMutual Center - Springfield

Music was great, over 4 hours of music. Every artist seemed appreciative of the fan support. They kept the music flowing, no pause between acts. But the MassMutual Center needs to get its act together. Audio was terrible. Constant high pitched whines and squeals. Other times no music at other, while still at other times the Mics were really quiet. Lisa Lisa complained about it for 10 minutes. So the tour was great, Stevie B arrested on stage! Music was great, the venue had issues.
