Let me start by saying that I have been a long-time fan of Frankie and his group. I first encountered him at Myron's at The Smith Center. I have been a loyal follower of Frankie at Myron's, and even followed him to SouthPoint. I have enthusiastically introduced many local and far-away friends to his act. But I was really disappointed when I attended his recent performance at KAOS.
First, on the evening I attended, the venue was less than half-full; that's never a good sign. And, it also seemed as though management had spread out the tables on the main floor in order to make it appear that the venue was better attended, but that only enhanced the ghost-town appearance. Second, I recognized that most of the attendees were members of Frankie's fan club or family. So, I'll bet that there really weren't many "outside" fans at the event. Third, the KAOS acoustics are atrocious; they don't begin to enhance Frankie's performance; to contrary, they detracted significantly.
I can only hope that Frankie will return to Myron's because it's not worth the trip to see him at KAOS.
