About

Frank Turner on Tour

Frank Turner is an award-winning, internationally charting singer and songwriter best known for his brand of rebellious folk-punk-pop music. The hard-touring artist has built a huge international following, selling out venues on both sides of the Atlantic -- including the Wembley Arena in 2011 with a capacity of 12,000 fans (an achievement only matched that year by The Rolling Stones and U2). If you haven't been lucky enough to see Frank Turner in concert, you might recognize him from the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics alongside Paul McCartney and the Arctic Monkeys. His music has drawn comparisons to the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Mumford & Sons, but the grizzled rocker's signature sound occupies a musical niche of its own. He creates a distinctive brand of folk-ish punk guided by a harmonica, acoustic guitar and rich vocal delivery. In the studio and on tour, Frank Turner is backed by The Sleeping Souls -- a five-piece indie band from England made up of Ben Lloyd (guitar, mandolin), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Callum Green (drums), and Matt Nasir (piano, mandolin). As the frontman to his comrades, Turner is a bold performer known to stage dive and dance with the crowd. Both an angry and joyous troubadour, his heartfelt lyrics are sung with passion and shouted back in cheery unison by the audience, linked in arms, pointing at the same words inked on their skin. Now back on the road through 2022-2023, you can see Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls on tour as they return to North America promoting their ninth studio album, FTHC, released in February 2022.

Frank Turner Live in Concert

FTHC pays homage to Frank Turner's hardcore roots as the vocalist in the London-based rock band, Million Dead, with a collection of tracks more aggressive than their earlier publications. When the outfit (which he started back in high school) called it a day in 2005, Turner set aside his heavy metal/rock and roll upbringing to explore a love for country and folk. He embarked on a solo project, which would become one of the most successful careers among UK soloists in the last decade, performing an astonishing 2,585 gigs over a span of his 17-year career and counting. Turner redirected his attention to primarily acoustic songs and paired them with quintessential punk lyrics that often challenge status quo belief systems. His first studio album as a solo artist, Sleep Is For The Week, dropped in January 2007 to much critical acclaim. Since then, he's produced a prolific volume of work, including nine studio albums (the last five of which have charted in the Top 5 in the UK), seven live albums, six compilations, four rarities, 13 EPs, 36 singles, and 29 music videos, among other releases. Additional accomplishments include authoring multiple best-selling books, producing a podcast series, releasing a handful of DVDs, and breaking the record for the number of consecutive appearances at the Reading Festival.

    Great show!

by Rick on 5/15/23The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

Everything about this show was amazing. From the venue to the view, from the bands to the crowd, it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Bedouin Soundclash opened the show with a chill set. Chuck Ragan took brought gravity to the evening. The Interrupters got everyone jumping and in a great mood. And Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls brought the damn house down. A perfect night.

    Go see Frank Turner

by R. M. on 5/14/23Dome at Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Frank Turner is one of the best lyricists of his generation. Just as important, his live shows are absolutely amazing. I have seen him 19 times live and in person. Most of the time with his backing band the sleeping souls. So I have seen him a couple times just him with an acoustic guitar. His live shows are incredible. So next time he is in your area go check him out.

And I donā€™t really mean SEE the show, I mean EXPERIENCE the show. Frank Turner and The Interrupters both put on amazing performances that had the whole audience bouncing. All the energy of a punk show and all the positive vibes of a religious experience. Great musicians, great songs, great people in the audience. Donā€™t miss it!

    Water, please

by J on 5/10/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

    1. There should be no cost for water (HOB across street does not charge for water). Disgraceful. 2. Moshing and crowd surfing should not be encouraged/allowed. One lawsuit away from seeing this stop once someone gets really hurt (ask Bledsoe and the Paradise). 3. Having to check in multiple times with mobile ticketing is a big inconvenience. 4. Frank Turner: Mix was much too loud on bass drum. 5. The Interrupters stole the show. Frank Turner is NOT hardcore (anyone who self-categorizes like that, as a rule, does so because he's a wannabe). He's really just a mediocre folk singer who plays loud and fast (much like the Dropkick Murphys and/or Flogging Molly). He talked too much between songs. Poor, goofy stage presence. 6. Prices on tickets are too high. 7. Otherwise...Sight lines are great. Place was comfortable with good ventilation. Lights/effects were great. Staff is courteous, and helpful. High hopes for this venue, despite any of the above.

    Great night out

by Vinnie D. on 5/10/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

First time at Boston's MGM Music Hall and I'm already a fan of the venue. Great seating and sound. I had heard of Frank Turner but was not familiar with his work, I bought tickets to the show to see the Interupters who were opening up for him. The Interupters never disappoint with their high energy show and genuine appreciation for their fans. Frank Turner was a pleasant surprise and he has earned a new fan. Loved his songwriting and his delivery, what arange

    Just wow

by Ray on 5/10/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

I was suggested to listen to Frank Turner during the height of Covid. Embarrassingly, I never heard of him before then. As an optimist, I can say that discovering FTā€™s catalog is one of the few positives that came from Covid. Iā€™m not just a fan of his music, Iā€™ve become a huge fan. His catalog. His story. His message. Everything about him. My only complaint was that his set was only 60 min (60 min of pure energy and emotion). Because this was a co-headline show. With that said, the Interrupters were exceptional as well! This was by far the best co-headline show Iā€™ve ever attended and Iā€™ve become an unplanned fan of the Interrupters along the way. Final note, MGM Music Hall at Fenway (while admittedly very corporate and opposite of what a punk show typically represents) is very well designed with excellent acoustics. Quite impressed with the venue.

    Amazing show great venue

by Evbo on 5/10/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

Frank Turner was awesome as always and the Interrupters were a blast. This was our first time at the MGM Music Hall. It's one of the best locations to see a concert in Boston. The acoustics were great and the view from the mezzanine was excellent. It would have been nice to have more ushers to tell people where to go. The entrance to the mezzanine was not obvious, it looked like another lounge with no access to the seats. Then in the actual hall there was no-one to to direct us to our seats so we wound up in the wrong place for the first half of the Interrupters.

Fantastic show, great venue... but aggressively loud

by A. B. on 5/10/23MGM Music Hall at Fenway - Boston

For starters, the MGM Music Hall is a great venue. First time seeing a show there and was really impressed, though there are some odd design choices. Not having a men's room on the ground floor is weird. As for the bands. Holy smokes they were all great. I'd never seen Chuck Ragan or the Interrupters and they were a treat. Frank and the Souls were their amazing selves and left it all on the stage. Now for the not so good. The sound was way too loud. Like, even with 22db earplugs it was too loud. I'm all for loud rock shows, but this was uncomfortable. Whomever the sound engineer is, they need to turn it down at least 10%. Just my two cents, but if you go, make sure to pack your earplugs.

Great show at a great venue

by wild bill on 5/10/23Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Love the Casino Ballroom, nice hall, well run, great acoustics. This was the biggest crowd i've seen there, and it was a blast; both Frank and the Interrupters played great high energy sets. Both had to play slightly shorter sets due to the co-bill but that was okay in my book, it was just a blast..
