Truly Amazing
by Zenix on 8/25/16Masonic Temple - DetroitOne of my favorite concerts yet. Some of his best work, an amazing light show, and the right amount of bass. I'd recommend Flume 100x over!

For the past decade, Flume has been dominating the music world with his hypnotic and abstract compositions that awaken the senses. Born as Harley Edward Streten, the Australian producer has a fresh approach when it comes to building out an immersive soundscape that revolves around the pursuit of creative freedom. Stemming from a desire to do the opposite of what is typically optimized for the algorithm, Flume's technique involves weaving layers that are bound with introspection and intrigue. As someone who doesn't actively seek the spotlight for himself, he always makes his collaborators shine.
Following the massive success from his 2012 debut album, Flume's sophomore album, Skin, earned him a Grammy Award in 2017. In an effort to continue building the momentum, he released the Skin Companion EPs which received positive reception from fans and critics alike. Since then, Flume has embarked on headlining tours in stadiums across the globe and many of his singles have topped the charts while racking up billions of streams on Apple and Spotify. Right before the world shut down from COVID-19, Flume dropped Hi This Is Flume mixtape, which featured his contemporaries SOPHIE, JPEGMAFIA, slowthai, KUCKA, Eprom, and HWLS, and earned him another Grammy nomination.
On his forthcoming album, Palaces, the producer challenges listeners to switch gears and consider Mother Nature's point of view for a change. Completed during the pandemic after returning to his native Australia, the thought-provoking project reflects this transition as he reconnected with nature and developed an even deeper appreciation for wildlife. As the son of a horticulturist, it was only a matter of time before Flume redirected his path toward this lush territory. As expected, Palaces includes a star-studded lineup of collaborators including Damon Albarn, Caroline Polachek, KUCKA, LAUREL, MAY-A, Oklou, Virgen Maria, and Emma Louise.
Flume's talent knows no bounds as he further explores the vastness of his own man- made universe through complex arrangements and sentimental bangers. At this stage of growth in his career, he isn't concerned about getting any bigger-Flume just wants to maintain the energy that he's manifested.
One of my favorite concerts yet. Some of his best work, an amazing light show, and the right amount of bass. I'd recommend Flume 100x over!
The lights were incredible! One of the best I've seen in awhile. Flume is great live and really knows how to put on a performance.
Flume put on an incredible show. His music is awesome and when paired with the lights and imagery, I was in heaven.
Flume went hard! The two people that played before him weren't terrible but they weren't my favorite. The lights were good and the visuals were spot on.
HAD A GREAT TIME. TOOK MY SON TO SEE FLUME IN DETROIT 8/22/816. I MIGHT HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE ONLY DADS THERE, VERY YOUNG CROWD. I WENT IN NOT KNOWING MUCH BUT TO MY SURPRISE...I HAD A GREAT TIME. I'M NOW A FAN.
I've seen flume twice now, once at Bonnaroo 2015 and at Hangout 2016. I just caught the end of the show at Bonnaroo so i can't speak much on it, but his hangout show blew my mind. I expected it to be good, but not that good. He played a bunch of his new and old stuff, and didn't play as much of other people's songs as other electronic artists do. He drew a crowd that was way too big for the tent he played at.
Flume was great. Opened with some older stuff, did some What So Not (more than I expected, which for me was a plus), and made sure to do his most popular songs. Opening acts were just okay, and I felt like they went too long.
As expected, Flume brought it all to the table at Royale on Tuesday night! Boston is an early city so he came on at about 10:40 and played till midnight. He played the best of his stuff but didn't really get into WhatSoNot which I was kinda bummed about. At the same time it was a Flume concert so what did I expect? There could have been fewer kids there (18+) but the show was enjoyable nonetheless.
I feel so blessed to experience Flume's music live. Words can't describe how addictive I am to his tracks!!! This emerging DJ is going to take over!!! He may fill Hardwell place in the industry. He's making Australia proud!!! New York loves you Flume!!!
amazing. he had great stage presence. enjoyed terminal 5 but couldn't get too great of a view. security was a bit too uptight
Absolutely astonishing performance!! I was high as a kite when I saw him, which made the visuals 5x stronger and the whole show much more enjoyable. This is honestly the best gig I've ever been to! Hands down!
Great set, played a lot of his hits and toyed with a much deeper / heavier sound that I'd ever heard him play before, but it was very welcome. The crowd at Terminal 5 was unbelievably young - it was honestly "amateur hour." Would suggest making events going forward be 21+, but aside from frustrations with the venue, Flume played a great set, especially given how drunk he was...
I had a good time. I first saw Flume at Webster hall. I had the time of my life. Everyone was vibing and dancing. Unfortunately at the terminal 5 show a lot of kids were there. They were rolling face and spilling beer everywhere, it really made it hard to enjoy the performance and vibe.
FLUME WAS SO FUN! such an unforgettable night for everyone
Great show! Flume was excellent live and had cool visuals on the screen behind him that enhanced the experience.
Wonderful concert, great vibe with many cool tracks.
High energy bliss. Talented music producer does not disappoint. I'll be sure to see him every time he performs in NYC.
Great show, with lots of new things and seeming improvisation. great sound as well. The only gripe i have is with the venue -- it was way too crowded.
Great show!! Great set! Played all the favorites and it all sounded awesome live.
The first two people were alright, but when flume was on stage... It was absolute perfection. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life, if not the best. I'm upset I had to leave early, but I had to make a train. Definitely recommend it.
