I go out a lot. I love live performance, be it music, comedy, or drama. I like to support that kind of stuff because I believe that we're better off with a vibrant creative community. The Firesign Theater show at the Winningstad was a great payoff.
I've been a fan of these guys since I was a teenager. Currently, I am an "honored citizen." So, that's a lifetime. I can recite long passages from their early work. They are burned into my memory. I must admit that I was a little worried that their show would be a predictable rehash of the old days. It was, partly, a rehash, but it was performed with such a twinkle in their collective eyes that I found myself laughing continuously.
There were also many contemporary innuendos and political asides that came out of the morning headlines. It was masterfully presented. It was delightful. It was poignant. It was just freakin' hilarious.
I'll go see/hear them again, as soon as I get the chance. This show is fun, but it is also relevant. These guys pay attention, as should we all.
