    Firesign Theatre

by TheLeeMan on 6/14/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

These guys were great. They haven't lost a bit in the 40 years they've been being smart, witty, and hilarious! The theater was interesting ... Firesign likened it to a Chinese prison -- but I liked how small it was. All it needed was cup holders for the beer! And I got to meet FS after the show and get autographs! How cool is that?

The Firesign Theatre performed some of their greatest hits and riffs to a sold-out crowd! They were very personable and entertaining.

Still crazy after all these years

by NickDangerMouse on 6/14/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

The subversive humor, rapid fire timing, amazing range of accents and voices, they're all still present and accounted for. Silly hats and cheesy sound effects, too. An evening with Firesign Theatre is like spending time with your best, smartest, funniest friends from college telling their best, smartest, funniest stories. Not be be missed.

    Flashback to the 70's

    by Oldster55 on 6/13/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

The Firesign Theatre was everything we hoped it would be--and more. The classic numbers were there--but they show that they're still a force to be reckoned with when they unveiled the new material. Current events meshed seamlessly with fondly remembered bits. It was also fabulous to be able to meet and talk to them after the show--we will be watching for their return to Portland!

    It's The Firesign Theatre!

by TheElectrician on 6/13/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

Still performing after all these years, the Firesign Theatre remains in rare form. For those who grew up listening to them on vinyl, they remain a must see! Reprising many of their classics: Turkish language instruction/Border, Beat the Reaper, High School Madness, and their justly famous Shakespeare ripoff, "Any Thing You Want To". The Firesign Theatre are one of the most important comedy troupes of all time. Go see them! Now!

    Firesign Theatre was fantastic

by blackbfly on 6/13/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

The show was better than I expected and hillarious. These guys just got better with age. It was really something to see them do all of the characters and the ease with which they transitioned between characters. It's a must see.

Firesign Finds Fun and Fabulous Foolishness

by narble on 6/12/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

I go out a lot. I love live performance, be it music, comedy, or drama. I like to support that kind of stuff because I believe that we're better off with a vibrant creative community. The Firesign Theater show at the Winningstad was a great payoff. I've been a fan of these guys since I was a teenager. Currently, I am an "honored citizen." So, that's a lifetime. I can recite long passages from their early work. They are burned into my memory. I must admit that I was a little worried that their show would be a predictable rehash of the old days. It was, partly, a rehash, but it was performed with such a twinkle in their collective eyes that I found myself laughing continuously. There were also many contemporary innuendos and political asides that came out of the morning headlines. It was masterfully presented. It was delightful. It was poignant. It was just freakin' hilarious. I'll go see/hear them again, as soon as I get the chance. This show is fun, but it is also relevant. These guys pay attention, as should we all.

    Firesign Theatre too funny

by atTheFarm on 6/12/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

Having spent a major portion of my life (more years than I care to reveal) listening to the Firesign Theatre having the privilege to sit there actually watch them perform so of their classics brought back all the sights and sounds of my young adulthood "like the hot kiss on the end of a wet fist"...They still have better timing and adlibs than most comedians. My wife and I had a great time and so did the audience...Hoping to go see them in Ashland, Or...
