Loved the movie....as in watched it 50 times loved it

by Barrie average on 6/19/19Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

The Tennessee theater was nice and there were some good songs, but in general the show was average at best. There was a large discrepancy from the quality of the writing from the first act and the second. The show started very mediocre, several of the solos being so ordinary they were hard to sit thru. It did build, however, and the last song before the intermission was the best so far. My wife and I thought, ok, it’s going to pick up now, and it did...for the first half of the second act (the song between James and Sylvia was strikingly better than the rest of the music, as was the dinner table song and circus of your mind. Then, It dropped right off. I’m not sure was the cast just liked those songs more, or whether it some of the songs were fillers but the difference was notable. The boys were cute and overall did a good job but one song that they sung was pretty poor (off keyand (flat)) and I felt really sad for him. The leading man had a strong voice but lacked a certain depth of emotion, he sang with the same inflection as his speaking voice and the over preciseness of his phrasing and some of the way he attacked the notes left some subtlety and tenderness to be desired. Hook Sylvia and Mrs Du Maurier were the best performers at the show and for me saved what otherwise would have been quite a disappointment. Ultimately, if you have not seen the movie, go see this and you should be satisfied, otherwise, you are forewarned. No one can replace the portrayal either of Barrie or Peter given. I wanted to like it... I wanted to love it. Can you imagine adding heart-rending songs and rollicking show tunes to one of your favorite stories?!? In the end I just didn’t,

    Good show

    by S.i on 6/19/19Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

Show well done. Acoustics a little off- difficult to hear every word the actors sang or said. Not sure why- Tennessee theater usually doesn’t have such problems

    Enjoyable

by Grannie on 6/18/19Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

Good seats for cheapest price. The earlier you purchase the better the seats. Limited view has always been the best buy. My daughter and I usually purchase at least one Broadway show at Tn Theatre. We have never been disappointed and not this time watching Neverland. The building is always clean. Welcoming the quest and ushers helping them to fine their assigned seats is very appreciative. If not there would be along line to wait in before the show begins. My only compliment is the price of drinks and water I think they should be $1. That would probably increase sells.

    Breathtakingly Beautiful

    by M. T. on 6/18/19Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

I've known the music for some time, but to finally experience it live was amazing. The lighting, set design, and costumes were impeccable. The cast was talented and you could tell they really put their heart and soul into the show. I got chills before the end of the first song; I laughed and cried through a pack of tissues. Really and truly an amazing, talented, strong cast, and heartbreaking, breathtaking, beautiful show!!

    Meh

    by M. S. on 6/18/19Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

There were some great moments in this show but overall I felt it fell flat. Most of the good moments had to do with effects not people. I felt the cast fairly screamed the entire day production and accents came and went. The sound design was not adequate and much of the show was unintelligible. Didn’t hate it, but sure didn’t love it.

    Best show I've every seen

    by A. S. on 6/17/19Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

I cannot think of a show that I've enjoyed more. Everything about Finding Neverland defined perfection. The sets, costumes, props, and special effects were all first class. But the actors! Every single person that makes up this cast is exceptionally talented, especially the children! I would gladly go back and see the show over and over. Thank you so much for bringing it to the Tennessee Theatre.

Neverland was great but venue needs work

by Tiggertheatre on 5/9/18Centennial Hall - Tucson

Loved Finding Neverland, however, the venue needs work. Where we sat we couldn’t see some of what was going and the sound quality made it difficult to understand song dialogue. Even the interpreter board person had difficulty following along at times.

    Wonderful!

by NeverlandFan on 5/3/18Centennial Hall - Tucson

This play has it all! It makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you think (but not too much ;-)). At times, the characters were difficult to hear (whether that was from the venue, or actors talking too fast, I'm not quite sure). Would recommend to anyone!

Good show, venue is horribly outdated

    by Wildcat1465393 on 5/2/18Centennial Hall - Tucson

Finding Neverland is a quaint musical. I felt like the intermission could have been better placed--the 1st part is longer-and much stronger- than the 2nd. There are a couple of beautiful scenes in the 2nd act, though, that helped save it. The cast was great, especially the female lead character. Wow! Her voice filled the whole venue. I would probably see it again just to hear "All that Matters" again and re-watch a few of my favorite scenes. As far as the venue goes, most everyone in Tucson recognizes how desperately Centennial Hall needs updating. If a tall person sits in front of you, you have to lean to the side and hope to catch glimpses of the show. The bathrooms are horrendous and barely ADA accessible, especially with a full house. A venue like this makes it hard to pay the prices on quality Broadway show tickets.
