  • Farm Aid did not live up to expectations

by Anonymous on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 2 out of 5

Had really high hopes for this event having bought my tickets the first day they went on sale. Most of the main acts played anywhere from 30-45 minutes and didn't seem to be putting forth much effort into the music. The biggest disappointment was the lack of a collaboration on the part of the main acts. As the founders and promoters promised, and as has happened for the past 26 years, the concert led up to the expectation of a big jam at the end. Unfortunately, it was just Willie and his family. Very sad that Dave, Neil and John couldn't stick around to deliver on this. I think Farm Aid has passed its prime in the concert arena and maybe needs to think of other ways to promote buying local rather than selling overpriced tickets to a weak festival.

  • Farm Aid 2011

by BTfromKS on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Farm Aid 2011 (Kansas City, Kansas) was a very special awesome, wonderful experience. Livestrong Sporting Park was an awesome facility. The volunteers who worked the day were so friendly and helpful. There was one man selling lemonade in the extreme heat and he was dancing to the music as he carried his heavy tray. The food was very, very good and there was plenty available. This was definitely a very organized event and it ran so smoothly...all day long. The people who attended Farm Aid were fantastic. There was a special vibe coming from everyone there. There were infants, children, teens....all the way up to very elderly folks. Everyone was happy and friendly. All day long and all night long, people were smiling. People apologized if you had to get up to let them through the row. Strangers instantly became friends. It was the most unique experience and atmosphere I have ever been in concert wise. I thank the people for a beautiful day. The concert itself was incredible. The music sound system was fantastic, the large screens were great, the changes between bands went so smoothly. The bands were fantastic. A full day of music by these bands made for a beautiful day. I still have the music playing in my head...three days later. I greatly appreciated the focus each performer had for the farmers. Their thoughts were well put and easy to understand. I'm thankful they are helping our family farmers and making this situation so well known. If at all possible, I will attend any Farm Aid Concert I can get to in the future!

  • Wonderful concert

One of the best events I've been to in years. I would recommend this to all my friends.

  • Farm Aid Great show

by Simonssays on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

Great Show overall. A little long for an all day event without being able to leave and come back. Came way to early. Gates opened at noon, started at one. Wished I would have come at 5pm. Great music, info, and message. A little costly to be there all day and having to eat, drink and all only from there. Especially water. Livestrong stadium is very nice. Was a little warm in seats. Did not like the over 15 calls from them or a marketing company for them on survey and sell tactics all with in about two days of each other. Stadium did not have adequate tv's to compensate the distance from stage.

  • a lot of misinformation and false advertising

by kcbubbles on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 1 out of 5

when the show was first announced, it was advertised as Dave Matthews Band which is why I bought the ticket in the first place. It wasn't until 2 weeks before the show that it was then advertised as only Dave Matthews and not Dave Matthews Band. I was extremely disappointed and angry. I have seen concerts before when the whole band was advertised and it turned out to be only one member of the band. One member of the band isn't the whole band. I really didn't care about seeing the other groups there.

  • AWESOME!

by tattudemellenhead on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Farm Aid is such a great cause and always puts on a good show with the various artists that perform. I personally loved Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real and John Mellencamp as well, they were basically who I was there to see. But I would recommend to anyone to go to at least one Farm Aid in their time, it is an experience you will never forget.

  • Farm Aid rocked it

by LHTP on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

I felt that everything went really smoothly. The crews got all the band equipment up and down in record time. The performers where dedicated to the cause and really put on great performances. I enjoyed the entire day. The prices at the concession stands was outrageoulsy riduculous. I felt that if I was to spend that much I would appreciate knowing that it was going to the cause not the venue...but the event was successful.

It was a wonderful experience. My main interest was Neil Young but all the performers were great. I appreciate the efforts of all the Farm Aid organizers.

  • FarmAid 2011 - PERFECT Venue

by SoccerRedNeck on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

The location of this year's FarmAid was ideal. The lineup was great. The weather was perfect. The message was important. I'm sold.

  • Great show!

by 420MusicFan on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Neil Young and Dave Matthews stole the show!!! It was overall an amazing show for an amazing cause! Keep it organic!

  • Sound system

by phlegm48 on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

We could not understand the artists when were singing. Their voices came across as garbled. When I got home and tuned into farmaid.org, the sound was perfect for vocalization. If this problem can't be fixed, it only makes sense to stay home and watch on line and make a donation to farmaid via the web. It would cheaper and benefit the organization more directly.

  • nice venue, good show

by musicloverfuck on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

Good show with some legendary artist. However I will say that they should have picked a different venue for this type of concert. The majority of the mainstream artist played an acoustic sound. Guitar & vocals. In my opinion whenever a concert offering mostly guitar and vocal singing they should stick to a smaller venue. Considering the size of this venue, unless you were sitting in the front of the stadium you could not feel the impact of the music. It was a major difference when the entire band were on the stage. Outside from this significant detail, Neil young and dave Mathews were PHENOMINALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • farm aid - such a Long day and no schedule of perf

by deb4earth on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

I was so excited to get to go to a Farm Aid concert... I see Willie every year in KCMO!!! I went at noon and left at 7 pm as I was exhausted!!! I really would have appreciated a performance schedule so I could wait until the acts I was so looking forward to were on. I mean although the local bands were great I just wore out... I would also like to point out how expensive everything was at the venue!!! $5.50 for an ear of corn? Wow!!! Glad I don't drink - beer $8.75 for one 20 oz bottle!!! Whatever! Sure sorry I didn't get to see Willie, John or Neil!!! Disappointed...

  • Great concert and great venue

by Kishkins on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

I went last year to STL and it was too cold and there were not enough flushing toilets. The LiveStrong Sports Park was perfect for an all day event. There was shade. I am always amazed at how great the performers are.

  • Blah Lineup

by PittsburghAmy on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 1 out of 5

Farm Aid is a great cause. I will continue to support it. However, I have to reconsider my attendance at Farm Aid concerts after attending numerous of them. Over the years, the lineup has become less and less impressive. I remember the days of big acts with energetic performances - Kid Rock, Brooks & Dunn, Los Lonely Boys, the full Dave Matthews Band, etc. The last two concerts, this year in Kansas City and two years ago in St. Louis, were BORING - and certainly not worth the expense of travel, hotel, tickets, astronomically priced venue food and beer. The lineup has become one after another accoustic performances of people I don't know or care about. (Seriously, how many times in a row can you watch a dude with a guitar sing slow songs?) The performances aren't energized, the crowd is not energized, the atmosphere is not energized. This is an all-day event, and people need performances to be punctuated with something they can at least tap their toes to. That said, as usual and expected, the "big four" performances of Dave Matthews (with Tim Reynolds), John Mellencamp (sounding like he gargled gravel and razor blades), Neil Young, and Willie Nelson were great. Jason Mraz was also good, although his set list was a little boring compared to his usual.

  • Neil rules!

by Jayhawkin on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

The venue was great. The last 4 acts were very good, except Willie had a few too many guests.

  • Don't Ever Forget

by MrHJW on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

This event wasn't quite what i expected as far as the performances were concerned. We are big Dave Matthews and Jason Mraz fans. They were both awesome, however, I wanted to see more. The big 'headliners' John Mellancamp, Willie Nelson, and Neil Young rocked it, they were great, but not who I went to see. If you are of a younger generation and want a Dave Matthews concert I would avoid this event. I am not taking anything away from them though, it was a fantastic experience for a great cause. Most of the food was local and organic and amazing. As Neil Young kept stating over and over, "Don't ever forget your local farmer, they need us and we need them, support local farms, Don't Ever Forget "

  • Farm Aid: music was great; venue needs some work

by tmactmac1957 on 8/15/11LIVESTRONG Sporting Park - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5

What a great day and night of music! I sang and danced and hooted and hollered. To have such incredible talent in one place was amazing. Thank you Lukas and Jakob and Jason and Dave and Tim and John and Neil and Willie. The short sets left us wanting for more ... but to be honest, I don't think I could have survived much more from Dave and John ... I would have been too exhausted. Neil: loved your rants ... keep it up ... we need passionate advocates for important causes like this one. But Livestrong Park has some issues. Parking is an incredible mess. And how they ran out of food before the headliners too the stage is beyond me.

I think it is great what these guys are doing for the farmers! And like so many other things we have just let the Corporate world take over the small companies and send the jobs over seas just to save money. We need America back!!!
