FANFARLO IN CONCERT:
London-based indie darlings Fanfarlo have made international waves with their virtuosic brand of eclectic indie pop. Boasting a talented roster of multi-instrumentalists, the band is known for their constant reshuffling on stage, as members move between an ever-growing arsenal of instruments that includes clarinet, violin, and even musical saw. The prodigious talent of the players is matched only by the charisma and showmanship of frontman Simon Balthazar, making for an unforgettable live experience that the band will reprise on their 2014 North American tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in 2006 by Swedish musician Simon Balthazar, Fanfarlo got their start playing small London clubs, releasing several early 7" singles to critical acclaim. The band made their studio debut in 2009 with Reservoir, receiving an invaluable popularity boost when the song "Ghost" from the album was featured on season 6 of Grey's Anatomy. Following several high profile talk show and late night performances, the band released 2012 sophomore album Rooms Filled with Light to another round of praise, kicking off their first US tour. In 2014, the band made its most ambitious effort to date with Let's Go Extinct, supporting the album's release with another highly anticipated North American tour.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Absolutely fantastic band. Played half new songs from their yet-to-be-released album and really blew the audience away. Outstanding stage presence, and all the members are multi- talented."
"What a talented group — they constantly switched up instruments from violin to trumpet to sax! Definitely see them if you ever get the chance!"
"It was a pleasure to see such synergy between band members, especially for 'The Walls Are Coming Down,' 'Pilot,' and 'Drowning Men.' I wish they could have played every song twice."

Great show! Spacious venue with nice sound. Loved it!
Good time, 30-40% of new songs, great old songs from Reservoir Album as well. Go for it you won't be disappointed.
This was a great show. They sound even better in person!
The opening band sounded great but had a distractingly loud bass drum that drowned everything else out. Fanfarlo's sound was terrible. Everything was muddled which was a huge disappointment.
Fanfarlo was fantastic. Their musicianship is remarkable. 2 of their band members played over 5 instruments each. They dont necessarily have a rockin show but its very impressive none the less.
A short but high-energy set from Fanfarlo to close out their tour. It was a pleasure to see such synergy between band members, especially for "The Walls Are Coming Down," "Pilot," and "Drowning Men." I wish they could have played every song twice. Thanks for a great show, Fanfarlo.
Really good show. It was my first time seeing them. Both opening acts were very good as well - just a night full of musical artistry. Fanfarlo's instrument setup, and the sound setup to make every instrument heard was great. They seemed very natural up there, and were really enjoying the crowd and the venue. Can't wait to see them again.
The show was fantastic! Robert Francis started things off right with their short set - rocked it. Lawrence Arabia was pretty good, just not quite up to par with Robert Francis (in my opinion). Fanfarlo sounded amazing! So much better than their album, which is saying something. Their dialogue with the crowd was very sweet and entertaining. They were great! Fun show!
Seeing Robert Francis was awesome! Got to talk with him after the show and get a signed vinyl. He was very cool and modest. I look forward to many more shows and music to come. Thanks again for a great night!
Fanfarlo and opening act Robert Francis were both incredible. I'm disappointed that I spent quite a bit more on my tickets, as a four pack was offered after I'd already bought mine. To top that off, the venue was letting people just pay at the door. I had no idea. I definitely feel as if I got my money's worth, but some people got more bang for their buck. I really hope Fanfarlo continues to build their fan base here in the U.S. because they are terrific musicians who put on a great show.
Farfanlo were so fantastic!! I feel like they are a band to watch, and 1 day I'll be able to say that I was lucky enough to see them at The El Rey before they for huge!!!!!!!!
April Smith & the Great Picture Show opened and they were so good, really awesome stage presence & amazing music. April Smith has a beautiful & captivating voice. They were by far the best opener for a concert that I've ever been to. Fanfarlo was absolutely fantastic. They've got an impressive orchestral sound, created with a huge assortment of instruments. And their songs are not only amazing but they also have really interesting lyrics that make you wonder about them, you want to hear the story behind them. Suffice it to say I'm in love with their music. I already was before, but after seeing them live it's rock solid. ;)
Fanfarlo was fantastic - they're extremely talented and play so many instruments! Truly an amazing show - I didn't want it to end.
Performance was flawless and captivating. Plus, they had an escape artist suspended from the lights during the first song.
Both bands played amazing shows and Fanfarlo threw in some cool visuals with a guy in a straight-jacket hanging upside down from the ceiling before freeing himself during the first song. Would highly recommend.
You know how half a concert is the crowd you're with? The crowd was somewhat lively, but mostly stood stock still and didn't try to sing along, which was unbelievable to me because Freelance Whales did a good job and Fanfarlo did one better. Fanfarlo was particularly great to hear, improvising a near pitch-perfect set without their musical saw, which didn't make the flight from Boston. But I'd say to both bands: Smile! Play to the audience! Hang out on stage and show that you're having fun and love music. Concert was great and intimate, but I could have used more enthusiasm on both sides.
Great band with a good future! The scene set up was great, music wasn't too loud - which is a great thing because my ears didn't hurt after the show! The atmosphere was awesome! I'm recommending this band to everyone. Great live performance.
The bass was ridiculously loud. We had to leave during opening band because it was throbbing in our throats and chest. Stayed back during Fanfarlo but was way too crowded.
these guys and one girl are absolutely outstanding.
