I went with my kids and a friend and her kids and we had a blast. It's a beautiful stadium and hard to find a bad seat in the house. The grounds are very accommodating and lots of yummy beverages for the adults. The food was good too! And ladies the shopping is bar none with a gigantic selection of all things tennis! Every outfit I've seen and drooled over on Tennis Warehouse was there to try on, feel and size up. Can't wait to go back next year! The weather was gorgeous for the final and semi-final, but I heard it was a bit chilly the rest of the week.
It was so wonderful seeing Venus and Serena in person. I truly enjoyed the experience.
This event is a must if you love tennis in a great environment! The facilities at the Family Circle Tennis Center are world class. Charleston is a beautiful place with so much to do!
I have been here for the past five tournaments and have not been disappointed. The second tier tickets are worth the additional cost of the third tier seats.
So much fun! Smaller venue, so you're closer to the players. On-site staff were all wonderful and welcoming. And watching top ranked women players... well it doesn't get any better than this. Daniel Island is beautiful. it's so easy to get to! Love the Charleston area!
We were worried about our seats and the weather but the day turned out wonderful. Our seats were in section 202 and the view was amazing. Due to the rain on the previous day, we were able to watch extra "catch up" matches. Seeing Serena play twice in one day was quite a treat along with Venus's match and Caroline's match.
We were greeted by live music which was very good as we waited to get in the morning gate. The grounds had all the food vendors one could want and the tennis was great. Although we had 3rd tier seats, the view was great. The only lackluster thing was the semifinal of Serena v. Venus. Venus just seemed a bit out of gas, possibly from being forced to play 2 matches the day prior due to a rain out one day. She also made a number of unforced errors which gave Serena lots of free points. There wasn't much to the match, so that was disappointing. However, this was redeemed when Jelena Jankovic and Stefanie Voegele played their semifinal. It was quite a battle and went 3 sets. We definitely would attend again.
Awesome way to see live tennis! The venue is fabulous and easy to maneuver. I did have trouble with ordering my tickets via ticket master as my tennis tickets got crossed with someone who bought tickets to a concert in Atlanta. It did get resolved after 5 phone calls over 2 days. Our seats were good. The sound system was not synced. Overall good experience and I look forward to attending this event next year.
This has been my 5th year attending the family circle cup. It is a wonderful event.
Event was delayed until late in day because of rain. Couldn't attend following day because of previous commitment. Had been looking forward to this event for 4 months. No refund on tickets. Very sad : (
Saw Venus Williams (TWICE!) and Serena Williams play on a cloudy very cool (especially for Charleston, SC area) day -- day after a rainy even colder day. But the venue and grounds of the Family Circle Cup was grand! And the play was truly wonderful!
The weather was cold and forgettable. But everyone at the Daniel Island tennis facility tried to make the best of it. I highly recommend going to the alternate court to see the best, up close tennis. You're right next to the players, no matter what seat you paid for in the big arena!
Despite cold weather and the threat of rain, getting in to the venue and getting out was relatively smooth. The signage leading parkers to "Spectator Parking" were much better than during a previous year I attended. Once parked, the shuttle to Billie Jean Stadium was easy to find. The NoSeeUms were everywhere, but hey -- people can't control nature ALL the time! The stadium itself is always fun, trying to locate the lower number section that is right next to a high number section is a case in point - if I'd followed the signs I wouldn't have walked all the way around the stadium almost to the point where I started. Still it was good to get a view of the whole thing. The match itself turned out to be competitive, with Stefanie beating Carolyn. Guess who I was shouting for? Yep, the winner. I whooped at the end. I recommend this event!
Cold, wet, and ugly,,, and gave up around noon! No way the sun was coming to shine... the rain was ever going to stop. Not organizer's fault but ugly and waste of money! Last year we baked in 80 degrees heat.... this year we never got to sit in our seats.... were drenched and frozen! Go figure.
Attended on Friday - the day after a rained out session of tennis. Event planners surely knew how many tickets had been sold, how many likely would return. We were there at 10:30 am in the parking lot about 2 miles from event. Crowds lined up in orderly fashion waited for **2** school buses to serve all of several hundred people. How could this be so under-served? These tickets are expensive (even compared to Paribas Indian Wells).... with rain and tremendous rain even on this 'make up day', volunteers were short-tempered and unhelpful in terms of where we were permitted to stand - no heaters were supplied anywhere for tennis teams of school children, etc. Will not attend in the future.
Tennis was excellent. Saw Venus Williams play to a three set match victory. Took my 9 year old and twin 11 year olds to the tournament and they loved it. Lots to do between matches and great food and drink. Will definitely attend next year.
This event is well run- a very relaxed atmosphere-friendly officials and vendors-no hassles-easy parking-affordable prices for tickets, food, shopping-close hotels-great tennis to watch!
This year fortunately I waited until a couple of days before to order tickets so I could gauge the weather. Even so, I was able to get good seats that I was able to quickly pick up at the tournament. We'll be back next year. Matches on the outside courts were great.
What can be better than seeing Venus Williams play tennis? Also, the American doubles team of Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears was fantastic. It was so great to see how doubles is really supposed to be played.
