About

Southern California punks Face to Face formed in 1991, originally comprised of singer/guitarist Trever Keith, drummer Rob Kurth, and bassist Matt Riddle. Debuting early the following year on the Dr. Strange label with Don't Turn Away, the trio was quickly snapped up by Fat Wreck Chords, which reissued the LP soon after. Adding second guitarist Chad Yaro, Face to Face toured relentlessly in the months to follow, recording a series of singles and compilation tracks collected in 1994 as Over It. When the song "Disconnected" became a local hit thanks to steady airplay on Los Angeles station KROQ, the group's profile grew considerably, and 1995's Big Choice sold in excess of 100,000 copies. In the wake of Riddle's exit, bassist Scott Shiflett signed on for Face to Face's major-label debut, a self-titled release issued on A&M in 1996. The adventurous Ignorance Is Bliss followed in mid-1999 on the Beyond label, featuring new drummer Pete Parada.

The following year saw Face to Face returning to their core sound with Reactionary, released on the band's own label, Lady Luck Records, through BMG-distributed Beyond. Through a promotion with MP3.com, Face to Face allowed fans to shape the set list for Reactionary by downloading snippets of the songs and voting which ones should make it onto the album. Nearly two million votes were received during a six-week period. Reactionary was released on June 20, 2000. The cover album Standards & Practices, which featured the band's own rendition of songs by the Smiths, the Pogues, Fugazi, the Jam, and others, was issued on Vagrant in early 2001. That year also saw Keith and Shiflett join Viva Death, which released its eponymous debut in September 2002. Meanwhile, Face to Face had joined the Dropkick Murphys for a split EP, and How to Ruin Everything, the band's sixth studio album, had appeared in March 2002.

In fall 2003, Face to Face disbanded after 13 years and six albums. Two years later, the retrospective Shoot the Moon: The Essential Collection was released on Keith's Antagonist Records. ~Jason Ankeny, AllMusic

    As Good As it gets

by Shza54 on 8/7/15Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Face to Face brings high energy and unity in punk rock! I hope they always keep south Florida on the map! The crowd was rowdy as hell in all the best way. As a female I was safely on the outskirts but who doesn't love a great mosh pit. I really feel recently in punk rock kids have been keeping their phones down which is an an anomoly these days. I'm a huge fan of the bass player Scott S. His stage presence is amazing (for lack of a better word) and of course Scott's good looks that drive all us ladies crazy.... Trevor is always fun for a laugh. 3rd time seeing these guys down here and 3rd time having the best time of my life.

    Time of my life

by ZapataJ on 5/25/15Bowery Ballroom - New York

basically, I had the time of my life. Face to face rules the world. Opening act was great as well. I love their commitment to giving back to their fan base and not separate themselves with barricades. The crowd-surfers were recognized by the band and I hope to see them again when new material is out. Also glad to see the classics played as if just produced, the loyal fans were and will never be disappointed! Thanks face to face!!!!!!!

    First time seeing them Awsome!

by EpicSoulMan on 6/20/13The Basement - Columbus

I have heard a few songs here and there but never really gave them a chance. Even though the sound man sucked the band put on one hell of a show and made me a fan in the process! The Bass player is fun to watch and even more fun to listen too. I will see them anytime they come around!

by allaretakendam on 6/17/13Gramercy Theatre - New York

It was awesome. They rocked the stage. I hadnt seen either band before and I had always wanted to see both Face to Face and Teenage Bottle Rocket, so this line up was perfect! The Gramercy, NYC was a great venue to see them. The openers were really good as well. There was nothing about this show I didnt like!

    Great show

by John440 on 5/31/13Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

I've seen Face to Face for over 15 years and they never disappoint. Played some good new songs and lots of great old ones. Teenage Bottlerocket was amazing even though the crowd didn't seem to know them as well, Blacklist Royals and Joshua Black Wilkins were both great new finds, all around a great show!

Lucky to have been a part of this show!

by GingerPixie on 11/19/12The Local 662 - St Petersburg

Wow, Trever and Scott knocked it out of the park on Saturday playing to a packed house at The Local 662 (great crowd). We were treated to an acoustic set of their 1999 Ignorance is Bliss album. Hard to believe that two guys on acoustic guitars could fill up the room with that much sound. Nicely done!

    Memorable Face To Face experience

by Choadyjpm on 6/20/12Brighton Music Hall - Boston

This was a special acoustic performance of the band's "Ignorance Is Bliss" record. It was an absolute masterpiece and the acoustic show was no different. They performed each track on the record from start to finish as well as a track from their "So Why Aren't You Happy?" EP at the end of the set.

    by cici12 on 6/22/11Wonder Ballroom - Portland

Never have I been to a show where all the bands from the opening act to the headliner ROCKED!!!! They were all AWESOME! I had never heard of The Darlings, but I bought their album and I love em! Strung Out is my favorite band of all time, but I would say Blitzkid and Face to Face were well worth the ticket! This show ROCKED Hardcore! It's been a long time since I've seen a punk show that phenomenal!
