EVELYN CHYAMPAGNE KING IN CONCERT:
Legendary R&B and disco diva Evelyn Champagne King continues to let her "Love Come Down" on fans around the world with effervescent, intoxicating performances of her funky hits. She hasn't released a new album since 2007, but with a catalog full of timeless songs like "I'm in Love" and "Shame" it hardly matters -- Miss Champagne King's live shows are all about the classics. Fans looking for a trip down memory lane will find their nostalgic longings fully satisfied as this iconic performer soaks the stage with her dazzling voice, effortless style, and sparkling collection of dance-worthy tunes.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Bronx-born, Philadelphia-raised Evelyn "Champagne" King grew up in a musical household -- her father and uncle were active in the Harlem music scene -- but her path to musical greatness was somewhat haphazard. In her teens she worked as an office cleaner in Philadelphia with her mother, and it was during this time that that a producer at Philadelphia International Records overheard her singing while she was cleaning a bathroom. He began coaching her, secured her a recording deal with RCA, and the rest is history. Her 1977 debut album Smooth Talk was a Top 10 hit, appearing on charts around the world and spawning the certified gold singles "Shame" and "I Don't Know If It's Right". Her rise continued in the early '80s with the albums I'm In Love (1981) and Get Loose (1982), both of which spawned chart-topping dance singles. Champagne King continued to be a constant chart presence for the remainder of the '80s before taking some time away from the spotlight in the '90s. She made a triumphant return to the scene in 2007 with the album Open Book, her first new album in more than 12 years. Since then she has continued to captivate fans around the world on tour with sparkling, soulful performances of her classic hits.

We spent the day at the 70's festival and then attended the evening concert. Great day. Very well organized. Fantastic music. Great price. Sound of Philly still alive and well. Kudos to Wildwood, their administration, the convention center and WIBG and OGL radio stations. Thank you for a great time. Look forward to more events like this.
What an awesome tribute to an amazing Icon!! I'm so grateful I was able to attend:) I know Uncle Hal was singing and dancing in Heaven. B. B. King's had great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The Soulful Divas all threw down big time!
The show was great. Too see all those women who still can rock it.
Awesome collection of female artists. All the female songstress sung all my favorite songs. The sound system was great as well.
OH MY GOSHHHHH! I had a time of my life. I hope they plan on doing another one!!
