    "Ernie" was EXCELLENT!!!

    by Budman57 on 8/15/16City Theatre - Detroit

Tastefully written and performed! Very impressive! To tell the story of a 91 year old in good detail in a very short performance time and have it done successfully, was truly an incredible accomplishment. Thanks to ALL involved for the memory of Ernie and much, much more.

Today we went to Detroit to see the play "ERNIE." It was more than what I expected for a two man show. I laughed and I even had tears and more tears. It was AWESOME! So if you have thought about going, GO! Take a tissue with you.

    Ernie was Excellent

    by Dan248 on 8/10/16City Theatre - Detroit

As an old time, lifelong Tiger fan, I had to shake myself back to reality more than once because I really thought I was watching Ernie himself on the stage. In fact, to this day, I don't know if I was hearing recorded audio from his on field speech at Comerica, or the actor speaking those words. Awesome Experience that even my wife enjoyed tremendously.

    Excellent - again!

by henksailor on 8/9/16City Theatre - Detroit

I saw "Ernie" 2 years ago with my father-in-law and enjoyed it this time with my wife. She loved it, too, said it brought back memories of summer nights listening to Ernie's broadcasts. It caused her to tear up several times.

    Ernie

    by Laura0928 on 8/9/16City Theatre - Detroit

This sweet play was a walk down memory lane that I was lucky enough to share with my dad and my sister. I remember hearing Ernie Harwell on the radio while my dad was doing yard work when I was a little girl. Anyone who has a love for Ernie and the Tigers should definitely put this on your list of things to see.

    A Night with Ernie

by DWelBab on 8/8/16City Theatre - Detroit

Our group of four loved the play "Ernie". After years of wanted to see it we finally made time to attend. The show did not disappoint. Even the one non-baseball fan enjoyed the evening. The loyal Tiger fans took a wonderful trip down memory lane and responded to every milestone.

    Ernie - a must see

by gjsmich on 8/7/16City Theatre - Detroit

One of the best plays you'll ever see and you don't even have to be a baseball fan let alone a fan of Ernie Harwell. The acting was superb. Mitch Albom's writing was perfect.

    Ernie was amazing!

by Smmik on 8/6/16City Theatre - Detroit

Spectacular show!!! Worth the time and money spent. It was a nice small venue which made the actors seem so close. It felt like they were talking right to us! After the show Mitch Album along with Peter Carey were in the lobby greeting people, they even took the time for pictures. We met TJCorbett on the way out as well! Everyone was so friendly it was very exciting!! The production was fantastic and I will attend again if it comes around ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️

    THE BEST OF DETROIT

    by SP250 on 8/3/16City Theatre - Detroit

IF YOU ARE A NATIVE DETROITER THIS IS A MUST SEE. ERNIE NEEDS TO BE ON YOUR MUST SEE LIST. IT TELL THE STORY OF A SOUTHER BOY WHO FALLS IN LOVE WITH BASEBALL AND FALLOWS HIS DREAM AND HOW THAT DREAM IMPACTS HIS LIFE. IT ALSO TELLS THE STORY OF THE DETROIT TIGERS IN OOD YEARS AND BAD WITH A CAST OF CHARACTERS BIGER THAN LIFE. THE CITY THEATER IS JUST THE RIGHT VENUE WITH THE AUDIENCE ALMOST ON STAGE. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT AAIN.

    Ernie

by miriamruth on 8/3/16City Theatre - Detroit

I thought the play was excellent. It gave my a look at Ernies passed and what kind of man he really was. He was one of the good guys, mentioned his love of Jesus, his family, and Detroit.

Ernie, the play, was so so

by Itslonggone on 8/3/16City Theatre - Detroit

The actor playing Ernie was spot on. The actor playing the boy needs to tone his exuberance down! I was a little bit disappointed in the format of this play. Lets face it, it's hard to do a short biography of a great person like Ernie and try to make it entertaining.

    Ernie was warm and wonderful

by Wobt on 8/2/16City Theatre - Detroit

My wife and I are old enough to remember and be fans of Ernie. We were heartbroken when he was fired by the Tigers and SO happy when they were forced to bring him back. The play is informative, telling snippets of his life with candor and warmth. The two actors accurately portray a humble, simple, honest man who broght baseball to life - and still would if he were still here - even more than TV today can ever do. On a side note, my wife's mom was blind and she saw the games he announced clearly. She had a fantastic memory and could often remember and retell some of the anecdotes Ernie would mention during a game. Brought back a lot of happy memories.
