About

Argentinian rock trio Enanitos Verdes (translation: "Little Green Dwarves") have been through a great deal in the 40-plus years they've been active, releasing 15 studio albums and steadily making a major impact across the globe, not to mention among Latin audiences.

Originally formed in the late '70s, Enanitos Verdes first consisted of three members: singer/bassist Marciano Cantero, guitarist Felipe Staiti and drummer Daniel Piccolo. Together, the trio relocated from Mendoza to Buenos Aires and began performing live at local clubs. In 1984, the band welcomed two new members: guitarist/vocalist Sergio Embrioni and keyboardist Tito Dávila. Together, the newly assembled quintet recorded their 1984 self-titled debut album. Ultimately, in 1985, Embrioni left the band.

The following year, Enanitos Verdes released their sophomore album, Contrarreloj (Counterclockwise), which featured production by Latin Grammy winner Andrés Calamaro and singles "Tus Viejas Cartas" ("Your Old Letters"), "Cada Vez Que Digo Adiós" ("Every Time I Say Goodbye") and "La Muralla Verde" ("The Green Wall").

In 1987, the group released their third album, Habitaciones Extrañas (Strange Rooms), which was also produced by Calamaro and featured singles "Te Vi en un Tren" ("I Saw You In A Train"), "Por el Resto" ("For The Rest") and "El Extraño de Pelo Largo" ("The Stranger With The Long Hair"). In 1988, the band embarked on a major tour, which drew enormous crowds across Chile and their native Argentina.

In 1988, Enanitos Verdes released their fourth album, Carrousel, which featured the hit "Guitarras Blancas" (White Guitars), followed by 1989's Había Una Vez (Once Upon A Time). Soon after, however, the band broke up, and Marciano Cantero embarked on a solo career.

In 1992, Enanitos Verdes got back together and recorded the aptly titled reunion album Igual Que Ayer (Same As Yesterday). Throughout the '90s, the band released four more albums: 1994's Big Bang, 1996's Guerra Gaucha (Gaucho War), 1997's Planetario (Planetarium), and 1999's Néctar. The band's 1998 live album, Tracción Acústica, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Performance.

Moving into the 2000s, Enanitos Verdes kept releasing albums, including 2001's Solo para Fanáticos (Only For Fanatics), 2002's Amores Lejanos (Distant Loves), 2006's Pescado Original (Original Fish), and 2009's Inéditos. In 2009, drummer Daniel Piccolo left the band and was replaced by Jota Morelli. In 2011, guitarist Sergio Embrioni tragically passed away.

Enanitos Verdes kept going, though, releasing the studio album Tic Tac in 2013 and touring across the United States with Spanish pop/rock group Hombres G. In 2018, they released a live album from that tour titled Huevos Revueltos (En Vivo).

by Mary on 8/2/22Rosemont Theatre - RosemontRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best concerts ever, they played songs that they have not played much in their concerts, I love how Felipe plays the electric guitar and enjoyed every single song.

  • Better late than never!

by Purpnga on 7/30/22House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Like my previous concert at HOB Dallas to see Hombres G the venue is a tad bit small. Enanitos Verdes gave us an awesome show, played the essentials, knew how to turn up the crowd and gave us small talk that was appreciated. I understand they’ve been in the game for 40+ years so I was okay with them taking a break & having the crowd sing, they added very nice solos, thanks for the beautiful experience!

  • Excellent

by ClaudiB on 7/30/22House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first concert at House of Blues and I was very impressed. I purchased a balcony seat and the views and sound were great. There really is not a bad seat. Los Enanitos Verdes music hold a a special place in my heart and the experience was amazing. They truly have great fans whose age ranges from 20’s alll the way to late 70’s. We felt the music! All the employees were very helpful at all times. Thank you!

  • Didn’t play their best songs

by Ricardo on 7/29/22Aztec Theatre - San AntonioRating: 3 out of 5

They played some songs I never heard. The songs that are more popular weren’t play. Very disappointed.

  • 713 Music Hall No Dance Rule!!???

by Vivian on 7/26/22713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 1 out of 5

We stood up for a few minutes of one of our favorite songs to dance and a 713 music hall staff came to ask me and my son to sit down. Never in my life at a rock concert has this happened to me! Not like I was standing the whole concert and bothering anyone. A few minutes of one song? Can’t believe it! We can’t buy standing area because we can’t be standing up the whole concert so I prefer the seating area. I always do this in other venues and everybody stands up for a little bit to dance and then sits down and so forth. Everybody’s happy. Nobody’s bothered. 713 Music Hall needs to reassess the no stand/dance room in the seating area. We buy tickets to enjoy the concert, have fun with our families and forget about all the wrong things that go on in the world and they’re asking me to sit down!!! in a rock concert?!!! Wow!!! NOT GOING TO 713 MUSIC HALL IN HOUSTON AGAIN.

  • Great Show and Venue

by Zk on 7/26/22713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing the band live and also my first time at 713 Music Hall. I have to say the experience was great! The venue itself was surprisingly good. The staffing was very professional and attentive. We sat up in the mezzanine and by the looks of it any seat is a good seat. Bars are conveniently available in all levels and the seats themselves were very comfortable. Enanitos Verdes is a great band that has been around for quite sometime; so it comes to no surprise that they put up a great show. No opening act is needed when you have 40 yrs of music as repertoire. All in all, it was a great experience and I am happy to say that I went to their show. As far as the venue goes, I look forward to future events hosted there.

  • Venue and production werent up to par

by LongtimeFan on 7/25/22McAllen Performing Arts Center - McAllenRating: 2 out of 5

We have enjoyed watching Enanitos Verdes multiple times. Unfortunately we felt this venue didnt sit them well. They were too far from the crowd and that showed. Also the production quality and sound engineering was not up to par. I could appreciate the bands efforts but i felt the sound engineers let everybody down.

  • Good

    by K on 7/24/22Rating: 4 out of 5

The Enanitos Verdes still got it! However, to began the performance 42 minutes late is disappointing. There is a scheduled time and I wished it would have been respected. Also, there was multiple individuals smoking inside the 713 music hall of Houston venue; security needs to do a better job.

  • Great show and venue!

by Rami on 7/22/22Riverside Municipal Auditorium - RiversideRating: 5 out of 5

Compared to the arenas in LA and SD this is a small venue. I would say it moderately resembles the House of Blues in San Diego. The venue itself is really beautiful and feels/looks like a church. Besides the band being late the show was an absolute hit! The energy and the appreciation for their fans was fantastic. I would love to go again in the future.
