Argentinian rock trio Enanitos Verdes (translation: "Little Green Dwarves") have been through a great deal in the 40-plus years they've been active, releasing 15 studio albums and steadily making a major impact across the globe, not to mention among Latin audiences.
Originally formed in the late '70s, Enanitos Verdes first consisted of three members: singer/bassist Marciano Cantero, guitarist Felipe Staiti and drummer Daniel Piccolo. Together, the trio relocated from Mendoza to Buenos Aires and began performing live at local clubs. In 1984, the band welcomed two new members: guitarist/vocalist Sergio Embrioni and keyboardist Tito Dávila. Together, the newly assembled quintet recorded their 1984 self-titled debut album. Ultimately, in 1985, Embrioni left the band.
The following year, Enanitos Verdes released their sophomore album, Contrarreloj (Counterclockwise), which featured production by Latin Grammy winner Andrés Calamaro and singles "Tus Viejas Cartas" ("Your Old Letters"), "Cada Vez Que Digo Adiós" ("Every Time I Say Goodbye") and "La Muralla Verde" ("The Green Wall").
In 1987, the group released their third album, Habitaciones Extrañas (Strange Rooms), which was also produced by Calamaro and featured singles "Te Vi en un Tren" ("I Saw You In A Train"), "Por el Resto" ("For The Rest") and "El Extraño de Pelo Largo" ("The Stranger With The Long Hair"). In 1988, the band embarked on a major tour, which drew enormous crowds across Chile and their native Argentina.
In 1988, Enanitos Verdes released their fourth album, Carrousel, which featured the hit "Guitarras Blancas" (White Guitars), followed by 1989's Había Una Vez (Once Upon A Time). Soon after, however, the band broke up, and Marciano Cantero embarked on a solo career.
In 1992, Enanitos Verdes got back together and recorded the aptly titled reunion album Igual Que Ayer (Same As Yesterday). Throughout the '90s, the band released four more albums: 1994's Big Bang, 1996's Guerra Gaucha (Gaucho War), 1997's Planetario (Planetarium), and 1999's Néctar. The band's 1998 live album, Tracción Acústica, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Performance.
Moving into the 2000s, Enanitos Verdes kept releasing albums, including 2001's Solo para Fanáticos (Only For Fanatics), 2002's Amores Lejanos (Distant Loves), 2006's Pescado Original (Original Fish), and 2009's Inéditos. In 2009, drummer Daniel Piccolo left the band and was replaced by Jota Morelli. In 2011, guitarist Sergio Embrioni tragically passed away.
Enanitos Verdes kept going, though, releasing the studio album Tic Tac in 2013 and touring across the United States with Spanish pop/rock group Hombres G. In 2018, they released a live album from that tour titled Huevos Revueltos (En Vivo).
The show was amazing. monte negro and enanitos verdes made it one heck of a nite
Eventhough the ticket price was higher at the day of the event, it was worth it. Never been at house of blues and it was just great!
I really like Enanitos verdes. They are a legend in South America and seeing them there is still expensive. I can't believe they are playing for 30 years now, but most of their production is A+. Their live performance is just amazing. They started with very soft songs to be later combined with hardcore hits. I enjoyed this night a lot and I am looking forward to see them for the 5th time! J
The opening band was real good. It kept us entertained and then Enanitos Verdes were awesome. We took a friend that does not speak spanish and He had a blast.
Enjoyed seeing Enanitos Verdes live. They're definetly a must see live band.
People were throwing beer across the audience and people were also asking for an encore in a rude way. But the guys came back out and played about three more songs. The security personnel wouldn't throw back the picks the guitarist threw at the crowd. Overall it was the performance that made up for everything.
I sang the entire time, amazed at how wonderful it felt to see Enanitos Verdes sing in person. I loved their choice of songs to sing that night, all my favs: hombre vegetal, un futuro mejor, luz de dia, mariposas, esta manana, etc. I recommend this show to anyone who loves to here the electric guitar, Felipe Staiti is awsome on the guitar. The setting made it perfect, nice small and personal.
Every time they come to Houston i always go to their concerts!!! They are the Best!!!!
They are in their 30th Anniversary and they still KICK BUTT!!
I was a great conciert and I would go back every time to see them
Good show, good music. 30 years rockin latin america
Great show, these guys just came out and jammed. No filler, just great music. No fancy light show or rants from the band about their opinions on the world, politics etc. This was old school rock at it's finiest.
Even after all these years the still know how to get the place rockin felipe on the guitar and marciano on the vocals gave us an amazing show would recommand to anyone.
It was our first time we saw a concert at the house of blues and our first time seeing the enanitos verdes in concert. It was a very exciting night! The band was more than what we expected, the songs and the guitar with the accoustics, fabulalous.
My first time going to house of blues and also seeing Enanitos Verdes in concert. I loved the show, the band sounds great. The only thing I would say is that they needed to play more of their older hits like "Frances Limon" There were a few songs I didnt know. That's about it. Like I said I did love the show regardless.
The concert was a great..full of great people, good vibes.. Monte Carlo, the opening band did an amazing job. Once Enanitos Verdes got on stage, the crowd went nuts & all had a killer time.
the opening act with the local band Dr hizteria was the cherry on top for the infamous argentinians from enanitos verdes ... they had me dancing and singing remembering my youth with songs i heard growing up and the chance to hear new comers Dr hizteria i might say i became a fan listening to great old songs and loving the new ones .. but that only shows that only the bests plays at THE HOUSE OF BLUES....
It was such a long concert, 2 bands played before Enanos came out. They had an amazing show. They played all of their hits and they had a good time with the crowd.
I watch these guys everytime they are on tour. Everytime i see them its something different. I am going to another show in about a month. See you there!
Siempre amazing !!!! This is the 5th time I have seen them live and they always put on a great show!
