Union tour OK but sound man bad

by BigChip on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

The sound man for the Union tour at Citizen’s Bank Area made it a less than enjoyable evening. He pushed the room too hard. The concept of sound re-enforcement is to supplement the sound coming from the performance so that it can be enjoyed by the audience. The sound man replaced the stage performance with his own version of what the audience should hear. The result was an uneven blend of keyboards and guitars with vocals fighting the piano and percussion. The performers play their instruments but the sound man has to play the band…they need to get some one with a better ear on the board.

    One of the best.

by Basketmaker on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Sir Elton & Leon delivered hard driving ROCK & Roll. We were treated to a side of both that showed real affection & admiration of one artist to another. Leon came on first delivering up some of his best loved classics. Tightrope, Prince of Pease Returning, Delta Lady to mention just a few. Set lasted approximately 25 minutes. Then Elton came on & did 40 minutes of his Great Hits. Those included Yellow Brick Road, Burn Down the Mission, Tiny Dancer, Well Known Gun, and all done up fresh with led screen light show as a backdrop. Then we were treated to the portion of the show that I went to see. Leon & Elton together performing the new music from the UNION CD. If It Wasn't For Bad, Monkry Suit,Gone To Shilo,Never Too Old, The Best Part Of The Day, & finishing up with Leon doing his song that he wrote for Elton In the Hands Of Angels. Thinking this was the climax and that only a short encore was to follow was my only mistake. Elton then stayed on and played more of his great music for 45 minutes. These included The Bich Is Back, Rocketman, Guess That's Why They Call It Yhe Blues, & on & on till 11:15 PM. Real value for your dollar in these tough times. Finished with This Song's For You dedicated to the fans who came to see him & Leon. Real Royalty being Real Cool.

    Elton was amazing!!!!!!!!

by Lily286 on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

The show started with Leon Russell singing a few of his songs. Then Elton came back and sang a lot of the well known songs I did not expect him to sing. After that Leon Russell and Elton John sang 12 songs of their new album, the Union. For the end Elton John came back to sing more of his songs, finishing with Your Song. I am so glad I was there! Elton John was full of energy during the whole show, his voice was amazing and he was in a great mood! Great concert! Beautiful songs and voice!

    Elton and Leon

by Susan1824 on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

One of the best concerts EVER. 3 hours of great music. Elton John gave nearly 3 hours of non-stop great music and knows who his audience is. He is gracious, loves the U.S., no matter how small the city. What a performer. One more check box on my bucket list and it was worth the wait. Leon Russel was also wonderful, bluesy and, clearly, in the background of all rock and roll history. The show was definitely about Elton John. He adores Leon Russell and let everyone know. Very nice to see such an icon with his idol.

    Elton John was tremendous

by BKGrandma on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

The three hour concert was fantastic. Elton at 63 hopping down from the piano toward the end of the concert tells me that he is an entertainer through and through. His ability to play the piano - tickling the ivories near the end of the concert was outstanding. It told me a lot about his stamina and strength. His love of the tour was still strong and his ultimate respect for Leon was touching. The band was great also.

    Rocket Man still rocks

by janicebutterfly on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Elton John puts on an amazing show. He did all the classics hits you want to hear. Leon Russell is a fabulous pianist, but it's impossible to understand his singing. Elton was incredible! Be warned, the volume is very loud.

    Elton & Leon..An Amazing Duo

by thingamajig on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Wonderful show, great energy as usual from Elton John. Good chemistry with the duo, though Leon much more reserved. Both still in good voice though over the years they are changing up the higher ranges to lower. Only issue might be volumne at venue was so high, created excessive echo so hard to hear spoken moments and some song lyrics.

The concert was very good and the order they played was perfect. Leon sounds as good as he did 40 years ago. Elton was at his top and had the croud into every song.

Excellent, but not what you would expect

by Duude on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

I've been to 100's of concerts, but never Elton John. Absolutely phenomenal, though beware, there is a 45 minute or so section in the middle where Elton is joined by Leon Russell, and they do material from their new album. I happen to like this album, though I really wanted to hear "the hits". He 5 or 6 of the biggies to start, and it was mindblowing; a 12 minute Rocket Man; Don't Let the Sun.. and others. After Leon left the stage, he went into a couple of 70's concert staples like "Take me To the Pilot" and "Burn Down the Mission". The only reason this show isn't 5 stars is because he alos polayed the bubblegum crap that he recorded in the 80's and on like "I'm Still Standing", "I Guess that's Why They Call It the Blues" and others. The guy is a great entertainer and played for over 2.5 hours.

    ELTON JOHN/LEON RUSSELL was a memory-maker event

by Squirely on 11/7/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

What a great concert from these two rock 'n roll legends. Elton John's voice and showmanship are more amazing than ever. A wonderful tribute to one of our long time favorites -- Leon Russell -- who is still rockin', writing memorable songs, and making memories for all of those who love rock 'n roll.

Still the master of space & time!

by SeaDog7 on 11/6/10Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

While we really enjoyed the show, it was clearly Elton John's show. We came for Leon Russell. He was amazing! We just wanted to see and hear more of him! We were hoping he would perform an encore and were disappointed he didn't. We love you Leon! You are still the master of space & time! You just left us yearning for more!

    Elton & Leon together again!

by mrscmw on 10/23/10Beacon Theatre - New York

Words cannot express this union of Elton and Leon! Both so talented in their own rights, they played together and separately, allowing the talents of both to shine through whether together or apart.

Rock of ages, young and old alike groove to Elton

by Esteeman on 10/21/10Beacon Theatre - New York

Elton John and Leon Russell brought their particular brand of rock, soul, country and old school jamming music to the Beacon Tuesday night and one cannot imagine the place being a better fit for such a fitting pair! Accustically intimate as so the energy of the audience can flow back to the performers, and With a still spry at 64 Elton clearly taking the lead for an obviously frail and ailing Russell, the musical duo introduced the audience to 14 new songs with the studio musicians that recorded them. (Kudos to them as they also had to learn and play John's closing hits set as well) And Elton taking it home with a string of his time tested hits that never fade from memory. John and Russell clearly know who their audience is and play to their strengths as the crowd of mainly baby boomers rocked out throughout the two and a half hour show. But sprinkled heavily amoungst the crowd were a new, younger crop of fans lip syncing the words to old staples such as Your Song and Guess that's why they call it the blues. Tthat just goes to prove, good music has no age limit. All in all it was a great night, a great pairing, a reasonable ticket price and a chance to experience something to cherish for a lifetime. What could be better! Oh, and Whoopie to boot!

ELTON AND LEON AT BEACON THEATER 10/19/10

by RICHIE1944 on 10/21/10Beacon Theatre - New York

Fantastic concert as each performer did some of their hits during the opening and closing of one of the best live Elton concerts i have witnessed since 1970 Boston Tea Party. The 2 music legends performed all 14 tracks live. The cd is 'fantabulous'.Elton has gone full circle. He shared top billing in 1970 at the Fillmore with Elton.Now,40 years on,he has bookended his career. Shiloh,Ahab,Monkey Suit,Hands of Angels, etc. Not a weak track on the cd.Add,the 2 bonus tracks on the deluxe cd/dvd issue,16 fantastic tracks. I just ordered the double vinyl to add to my collection. The concert has to be in my top 10 concerts of all time.

i think this was the worst and most disappointing show i have ever seen. It seemed more like a show to promote Leon. Elton played 2 of his own songs . Could you imagine? It was the worst. People including me left early. Very Boring. I went to see Elton. noT leon
