For the last half-decade, few voices in popular culture have been more evocative than Ellie Goulding's breathy, romantic soprano. She has inspired the love and devotion shared by everyone from Prince William and Kate Middleton (Goulding played her lush cover of Elton John's "Your Song" for their first dance at their wedding) to the Twilight Saga's Bella and Edward. But it's fans fortunate enough to score tickets to a concert who forge the most powerful connection with the British-born artist. Throughout her short career Goulding has proved to be the rare singer-songwriter who is as comfortable in the electronic sphere as she is with an acoustic guitar. She showed that to great effect as the lead vocalist in Calvin Harris's summer 2013 hit "I Need Your Love", which reached #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club chart. Indeed it's her uncanny ability to bring a folk singer's romantic vision and vulnerability to the dance floor that's set Goulding apart since her first album Lights debuted at #1 on the UK album chart in 2010 and identified her internationally as one to watch. It's also the reason why Goulding has worked so well touring with acts as diverse as Chris Matthews Band, U2, Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry. Her latest record Halcyon, and its reissue Halcyon Days, shows Goulding at the height of her confidence and personal expression, proving that the sharp beats and aggressive pop synths that she so clearly adores only serve to strengthen her powerful voice, not diminish it.
Her voice is just as good live as it is on her albums! Extremely entertaining. We had so much fun the entire time.
she, was "amazing"? her, voice like a "angel"? the, show was "memorable" and "awesome"! worth-it!!!
The show was full of interesting visual elements, but overall, the experience was one I could have missed out on and not felt too bad about. The opening act was rather annoying personality-wise, though their general sound wasn't too unpleasant. Ellie hardly interacted with the audience, belting song after song with a rushed "thank you" and 10 second water water break inbetween numbers. The audience was rather unenthusiastic, with the majority of people around me standing only for two or three of her big hits. I was debating whether or not to spend the extra money on a tour shirt prior to the start of the concert, but 5 songs in, I was glad I hadn't, and 10 songs in, I was wishing I was at home reading a book from the comfort of my bed.
My new bae. Ellie put on such a great show! Cool set design, awesome lighting, fun dance choreography, perfect balance of singing and talking to the audience. Listening to the albums does NO JUSTICE to Ellie's voice live. Highly recommend!!
I loved this show even more than her show a Hard Rock Live a couple of years ago. Her voice is amazing and she has so much energy!
Ellie's voice is even better in person than it is on her albums. She is very entertaining to watch as you can tell she's having a great time while performing. The visual effects were fun. This is the first tour I've seen with her have dancers, which was different. I also loved when she went acoustic or played the drums/guitar.
Ellie gave a stellar performance. She sang from all her albums, engaged the audience throughout, and was accompanied by surprisingly wonderful dancers and super talented singers and musicians. MattandKim were a pleasant energic and fun opening act.
Unforgettable night. She's a one beautiful and talented woman. I was t disappointed in her performance! She hit all the high notes in devotion & I was in heaven. Definitely coming to see her the next time she's in New York!
Seriously, well done EG! She has come along way in terms of a stage show. A powerhouse in every way! Just the right amount of dancing and her voice sounded great (even at MSG). She looked hot, talked to the crowd and put earnest emotion in to her songs. My favorite show of the year! She worked so hard and earned it.
This was a waste of time and money. I like a couple of her songs but decided to go to the concert to possibly see if I could get into it. But her bad choreography, poor stage presence made this concert really boring for a pop concert. She has a great voice and very talented, evident by her playing several instruments. But i would not go and see her in concert again, nor would i ever recommend anybody to pay money to see her. It was so boring i decided to leave early!
The show was amazing. The acoustics sounded awesome, her voice is great. We didn't sit the entire show we were on our feet dancing. I'm so glad we went to see her concert ,we had a great time. Love her!!!!
So let me preface by saying that I have never been to MSG. I came to this show to see Matt and Kim. Most people had no idea who they were. I ended up sitting next to great people. Matt and Kim were amazing as always. Ellie Goulding was outstanding. She puts on one hell of show, and she knows how to work a crowd. The whole Garden was feeling her energy. It was an amazing night and it was totally worth the 3 hour drive on a work night.
Better than what I expected. Love her voice and the way she dances. Would definitely see her again.
Ellie Goulding does not disappoint! Sings all her great songs and mixes in newer stuff. I had such a great time.
Amazing show! One of the best concerts I've been to!
One of the best shows that I have seen in a long time. Ellie was amezing.
My 13 year old is a fan, so I purchased these tickets last November 2015 as a xmas present. The night of the show couldn't get here quick enough!!! While we loved Ellie Goulding , the opening act , matt and Kim, left us feeling ewh and icky inside. The females constant reference to sexual body parts was, I felt, unnecessary. My daughter was uncomfortable as well. But the second Ellie Goulding came out on stage, everything else faded to black for us, but for the bright, sharp talent on stage. She danced and had a nice time with the audience. Happy to be part of her last day on her tour.
Very poor and disappointing Poor sound Different clothes outfits do not substitute for quality entertainment
Loved Ellie Goulding. I know she is taking a break. But need to bring her back. Didn't think I would love it as much as I did. Really only went because my girlfriend and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. Staff was awesome and friendly as well
Ellie Goulding was a fantastic performer, and the venue only enhanced her music. This is exactly how concerts should be. No one was sitting, and if you were in the front, there were no seats available. Ellie is a true musician, and I'm glad that HB2 didn't interfere with her coming and making a statement in North Carolina!
