About

Elbow will make a much anticipated and welcome return to Australia for four special shows. Fellow Brits and special guests, Bombay Bicycle Club, join Elbow on tour in what will be their first Australian shows. Tickets go on sale at 9am Tuesday December 6.
Elbow's return visit follows quickly after four mesmerising performances last July, including sold out shows in Melbourne and Sydney and a remarkable set at the Splendour in the Grass festival.
Elbow have consistently delivered impeccable, brilliant live shows. "Elbow are as close to a perfect live band any punter could hope for..." Fasterlouder
The band's graceful, lush orchestral sounds a gently sublime mix of the intricately elegant, poignant, and elative, rousing crescendos serve up stunning renditions from their five album repertoire.
Up front, Guy Garvey fills the room with his angelic vocals, undeniable stage presence and natural charisma; his generous between song banter building a strong rapport between band and audience. "‘Open Arms' was triumphant, ‘Station Approach' possessed an almost hypnotic jubilation and set closing ‘One Day Like This' was positively euphoric." Drum Media
"We think we may have gone to musical heaven..." Inpress 2011 marks Elbow's 20 year anniversary and the release of their fifth studio album, ‘Build A Rocket Boys'. ‘Build A Rocket Boys' follows debut album ‘Asleep in the Back', ‘Cast of Thousands', ‘Leaders of the Free World' and their fourth album, the 2008 Mercury Music Prize winning ‘The Seldom Seen Kid'.
North London's Bombay Bicycle Club, opening for Elbow on all shows, have released three albums in as many years. Winning a competition to perform at V Festival while still at school, the youthful band released their gold, debut album,‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose', in 2009. Wasting no time, a stripped down, acoustic, second album ‘Flaws', was released a year later making the UK top 10. ‘A Different Kind of Fix' is Bombay Bicycle Club's latest offering, cited as a their best record yet and a promise of more to come. The band have built a fiercely loyal UK fan base to which they're about to add a whole lot more Australians. Immerse in the sounds of Elbow, with special guests Bombay Bicycle Club.

    Superb

by Gearoid on 10/2/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Great musicianship and sublime vocals with humour and audience participation made for a wonderfully entertaining show from Elbow. Amazing to see a band this good and popular in a venue as small as the Paradise. A positive, endearing show which left me in a good mood all week (despite the Red Sox !)

Elbow - excellent band to see live!!!

by DJAmbient on 10/2/11Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I've liked their CDs over the years but this was my first time seeing them live. Many bands do not live up to their recordings but this band certainly does, in fact, I'd say their live takes of some songs were better than the recorded versions. The band is very tight and play very well together. I've always gotten a Peter Gabriel vibe from the vocals and this came through in the live set. It's as if when PG left Genesis he formed an indie rock band, that's not to say singer Guy Garvey is a PG imitator, he's certainly got his own style and pulls it of brilliantly. If you get a chance, see this band, if you are not a fan you will be.

    Elbow is a spectacular band.

Overall, really great. Sound could have been better, but I almost always have that complaint. At least they did a good job with making Guy's voice clear.

best band to come out of the UK ..... ever .

by stephenjm on 10/2/11Terminal 5 - New York

fabulous intimate setting , and great sound from wherever you stood the Bury boys put on what was one of the best concerts I have ever seen .. Guy had the whole crowd wrapped around his little finger by the second songs introduction .. and it only got better .. just wish they got the airtime they deserve .. but then it might not be the clublike situation like we had ..

    great show

    by Kermit7 on 10/2/11Terminal 5 - New York

Elbow, as performers and entertainers, know what the crowd wants, and give them exactly that. Show started with the more noisy pieces they have to offer and went on to the ballads which took up most of the show's time. It was maybe a bit too much for myself, but the audience went crazy for it. If you are looking for the early stuff they have done, you will be disappointed. All in all, great show, moving, exciting and never boring.

    Elbow Rocks!!

by Killzone4 on 9/26/11Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

The venue was on the smaller side, but it made it feel like you were amongst friends. The sound was perfect, the view was perfect, and Elbow was perfect! A great concert to see, and a great venue to go see a concert!

    Elbow were very good

by Overhere on 9/26/11Terminal 5 - New York

Very good concert from Elbow. I'd seen them at a festival in the UK a couple of years ago and they were outstanding. For whatever reason, they were a little slow to get going here. Seemed the set list was a little slow and quiet for the first 30-40 minutes, a few people in front walked out clearly unimpressed. They should have stayed, it got brilliant towards the end and the encore fantastic but I could understand why they'd go if that was their first time with the band. He didn't get the crown going as well as normal.

    Worth the Wait!

    by cybergoddess74 on 9/26/11Terminal 5 - New York

From the first note of "The Birds" to the last of "One Day Like This", they had the packed house on their feet. Guy Garvey's voice is as clear and majestic in person as it is on their albums. He definitely knows how to engage a crowd. We sang "Happy Birthday" to them to mark their 20 years as a band. After the show, I was lucky to meet both Guy and Richard Jupp (drummer), as well as to take pics with them. They were so warm and sweet. Here's to another 20 years of bewitching songcraft.

Guy Garvey of Elbow is consummate entertainer

by StusMyGirl on 9/22/11Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

First of all, I'd like to say that Center Stage is a wonderful smaller venue that has both standing room and ampitheater type seating. No seat is bad because the pitch of the seats is so steep that anyone should be able to see the stage sitting anywhere. Sound quality of the show was excellent and sharp. No one voice or instrument was too overpowering. Elbow is a quality entertainment show. Even if you didn't happen to like their music, there's no way you can't enjoy the show. Lead Singer, Guy Garvey, is gifted at getting the audience involved. He actually talks to people in the audience and expects answers. His voice appears to be unaided and sounds just like the recordings. The band's songs are much more energetic in person than on album. Top Rate show!
