The staging, acting and music all made for a terrific night of theater. I thought it would be a bit strange to turn a tragic event into a musical, but the playwright and composer did an outstanding job in creating an appropriate aura for an often overlooked human nightmare.
The Eastland is well-written, well-staged, well-cast and well-acted--and remarkably affecting. I know that sometimes reviews that are enthusiastic create unrealistically positive expectations--but just go. I think you'll like it very much. Very strong and creative offering by Lookingglass; another feather in the company's cap.
