About

DUM DUM GIRLS IN CONCERT:

Indie pop darlings Dum Dum Girls possess the kind of effortless cool usually associated with New York's Downtown scene, but the LA-bred foursome's dreamy sound owes as much to shoegaze as it does to classic NYC punk bands like the Ramones. Taking the stage in their signature black mini-dresses and fishnet stockings, the girls deliver attitude-heavy songs like "Bhang Bhang, I'm a Burnout" and "Wrong Feels Right" with a bewitching blend of passion and insouciance, eyeing fans from behind dark sunglasses as they casually converse between songs. Whether they're vibing out to originals or treating fans to their buzzworthy cover of the Smiths' "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out", Dum Dum Girls always dazzle on their unforgettable tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dum Dum Girls began in Los Angeles in 2008 as the bedroom recording project of the band's lead singer and songwriter Dee Dee Penny. Her early releases caught the eye of iconic indie imprint Sub Pop, and in 2010 the label released Dum Dum Girls' debut full-length I Will Be. After assembling a band around the project, Penny and her new mates hit the road for extensive touring that included a stint opening for the band Girls. Two critically acclaimed EPs and a sophomore album followed shortly after, earning the band Best New Music nods from Pitchfork and several high-profile festival appearances. In 2014 Dum Dum Girls released their highly anticipated third album Too True, hitting the road for another series of electrifying shows in support of the record.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

The Crocodiles were good. The dum dum girls were boring. Their music is pretty forgettable.

The girls sounded awesome. The sound system was the worst I've heard it out of the 10 shows or more that I've seen at the Magic Stick.

    Rock & Roll

by kisssmith on 3/7/11Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

I bought the ticket for Dirty Beaches, who opened the night and didn't disappoint. If you enjoy rockabilly and surf music you will love this guy, he is legit. The following two bands weren't my cup of tea, but the Dum Dum Girls put on a good show. Loud sexy rock and roll.

splendid sound in a perfect venue

by HALIBM on 3/4/11Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Dum Dum Girls looked great, had a perfect sound, and every song is hit - like. Funny to see the first few rows standing up front were all guys. I also have to say that Brighton Music Hall is a very professional venue. Great space, friendly bouncer, efficient bartenders, and great flow to venue. Easy to get close to bands, but also easy to lay back or hideaway and great bar access (no beers cost more than $5). Also, Dum Dum Girls saved their fabulous Morrissey cover for their Encore so make sure they do it by sticking around and be loud!
