Absolutely outstanding!!! I was more than pleasantly surprised!!!
The service at Drury Lane, along with the exceptional talent on stage, made it a wonderful afternoon. You do everything right.
I have seen this show many times, my favorite! But when I saw Robert Cuccioli’s name on the program I knew I was in for a memorable experience. One of my favorite actors on Broadway, he was magnificent as Emile. I thought during the show I wish this cast made a recording because I would buy it in a heartbeat. All the characters were fantastic. Nellie was adorable and fit the role perfectly and played off Emile so well, Bloody Mary was clearly the best I had ever seen, Luther Billis was so entertaining, and Joe Cable fit the part to a tee. My sadness was that the audience was so sparse....which everyone I know who has seen it said the same. It’s tragic not more people are going to this. I am trying to work out going to see it again it was that good. More musicals like this one may bring people back to Drury Lane. Been coming here for years but this is one I will never forget.
A lot of talented people in this cast! I felt sorry for them though--the crowd at the show I attended was rather sparse but they still gave it their best. My favorite was the actor who played Billis. His facial expressions were spot on.
Talented actors/actresses with so much enthusiasm and wonderful voices. Enjoyed this play from beginning to end.
I always enjoy the performances at Drury Lane, they never disappoint. South Pacific was really great. The music and acting made me feel like we were all there at that time and place. I've been singing the songs all week. I highly recommend this musical.
High production values, wonderful performances, excellent orchestra!
Terrific production showcasing superb performers. Among the best shows ever at Drury Lane.
Female lead superb!! Carried shoe; male lead’s voice a little disappointing. Set was wonderful, Did not agree with portrayal of Luther, too hostile. South Pacific always wondrful
This was one of my favorite performances yet! The range and quality of the vocals was the best. Just when I think I can't be any more blown away, along comes South Pacific. If you have a chance to attend, DO!!!!!!
Great show; fantastic talent. Theater is first class venue.
Excellent voices in a perfect location. Parking wonderful. Food great.
We loved the performance from the overture right through to the finale and standing ovations. The choreography and supporting dancers were par excellence and casting for the leads couldn't have been more on-target. Samantha Hill is a skilled actress and stunning singer ...calls up videos of Mary Martin, the original Nellie. Austin Colby's resounding Younger Than Springtime portends great things for this wonderful performer. Yvonne Strumecki as Bloody Mary hits the ground running with her sonorous Bali Hai and Matt Crowle as Luther Billis takes the role to new heights with his strong comedic and acting chops.. But, by far, the performer who ties it all together is Robert Cuccioli.. His rich vocals reaching thunderous conclusions both energize and bring tears. This talent combined with stellar acting, good looks and great style, reminiscent of The Golden Age of Broadway, adds both tangible and intangible elements that guide this classic musical to victory. Robert's renditions of Some Enchanted Evening and This Nearly Was Mine are extraordinarily poignant and shed additional light on the true-to-life foundation this musical is based on. Robert's interpretation of the role, incorporating new dimensions and nuances, helps him make the part of Emile de Becque his very own. We flew in from NYC and feel blessed to have seen this Broadway-caliber production. Wish there was enough room to individually mention the entire cast. BRAVO to everyone in front of and behind the scene!!
My wife and I went to the show. She had seen the play performed before, I hadn't. We both enjoyed the play. The kids that were cast were very good and overall the production was interesting and well done. Recommended.
What a wonderful job the whole cast did on this classic musical. Orchestra was great! Truly a must see evening
These iconic songs were well performed on a minimalist set. The issue was in the surrounding story and character development. Nurse Nellie's portrayal was overly and unnecessarily "hickish". It distracted and diminished the performance. The most pressing issue was the extraordinarily limited character development of Lt. Joe Cable. He literally arrives and heads to bed with the first woman offered to him. None of his relationships with other characters made sense or carried any gravitas.
Great show with a great cast. Wonderful music. Highly recommended.
Extremely talented actors brought to life one of the outstanding works of the 20th century musical theater.
This production of South Pacific was wonderful; we enjoyed every moment!
I remember as a little girl when I saw this movie in late 50s and my mom then got the album. I learned all the songs and then life happened. What fun it was to see this play and hear all the music again! The voices were solid, the characters strong, and the set delightful. I would recommend this play at Drury Lane!
