    Deathtrap too much dialogue

by Belga on 7/25/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Deathtrap was very boring with too much dialogue. A ridiculous stupid scene with the psychic and over acting actress. Should have had many more actors in the scenes like a detective or police investigation. The storm scene was good, the house that they lived in was interesting.

    Death Trap

by Lilyhoffa on 7/24/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Over all : good. Lead male was not as natural as l'd expect. His tone seemed overly loud and for ed, like he was reading from cards for the first time, rather than normal flow of conversation. Scenery was absolutely top notch!

    Great Set and Fine Show

by HopeHarcourt on 7/24/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The set design is wonderful. The play is well performed. Deathtrap is an older play so the fact that it is somewhat dated feeling and that some of the surprises are already know did not ruin our enjoyment of the production.

    A Must See Play

by DaughterOfDoodles on 7/24/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Deathtrap - such a great play! Great actors, good storyline with a couple of twists!! The set is absolutely breathtaking. As we entered the theater, I was drawn to the set. There isn't a bad seat in the house (Drury Lane Oakbrook) but ours really were the best seats!

A fun evening with a few good thrills

by Bulldog2003 on 7/19/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Deathtrap is quite a fun play. While it starts a bit slow and droll, once it kicks it is full of twists and turns. Some you see coming and are still shocked when they happen but others are bolts from nowhere. The venue is comfortable and all seats are good -- but to a mostly empty house it's odd how seating was assigned. The set was amazing -- really creative and perfect for the play. It was so good I found myself distracted with how they did it. Acting was solid but not remarkable, but I have to admit the psychic is fun even through the role is implausible. It's a well crafted play with a perfect set and an adequate cast.

    The play is the play

by Chrisandcompany on 7/12/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Deathtrap was a fun way to spend an evening ! The cast did a great job, and the twists were well played ! Who knew writing a hit show could bring out the murderer in so many ? Check it out !

Deathtrap surprising plot twists made the play fun. Cast was great. Set very professional and props and effects supported plot. Enjoyable theatre afternoon with friends.

We are long time fans of Drury Lane, but this was the worst performance ever.

Very Dated Production, no one under 50 will get it

by mike009 on 6/28/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The venue is very nice, seating comfortable and acoustics agreeable. This production however is desperately dated with references few under 40 or 50 will get (I surveyed several 20 somethings and a few 30 somethings to see if they knew what a “Carbon” was – they did not). A few of the essential plot twists are not the least bit surprising or shocking, however likely were in the 1970’s. The acting was marginal at best, however the portrayal of the psychic living next door was horrendous and embarrassing – it was like trying to watch your great grandmother imitate a man trying to pass a stone. I will admit I cannot give a full review of the entire production because I left at intermission (I believe the character of the psychic reappears in the 2nd act and I just could not bear to be there for it). I would seriously think twice before spending even as little as $50.00 a ticket for this play.

    Fun Well Written and Acted

by tommy66squid on 6/28/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

It's been a while since my wife and I have been to the theatre but we had a very enjoyable time watching this show. Very well acted and big surprise that had you jumping out of your seat. Bring a sweater because it is very cold in the theatre and be prepared for a very good show.

    Deathtrap

by StaciHB on 6/27/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The set was amazing. The special effects (rain and storm) were well done. The psychic brought some humor to the show. Overall, the show was OK.It wasn't up to par with other productions I've seen at Drury Lane, which I have considered to be outstanding shows.

    Wow what a death trap

by peanutdanomano on 6/13/16Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The play is properly named. It was slow from start to end, in the middle there was a big surprise that woke the audience, then lulled us back to sleep. The ending seemed to come very quickly when the writer ran out of ideas on how to end it. the set was phenomenal, too bad the play didn't match.

Perfect blend of drama, mystery, and dark comedy. Never knew what was coming next and as a result kept me at the edge of my seat.
