The show itself is something to be seen. Flying dragons, a multitude of aerial stunts, easy to follow story, this was perfect to take our 3yr old daughter out to see. We felt some concern that this might be too intense for her at 3, but it turned out to be perfect entertainment, with no measurable fear or trepidation on her part.
My only regret about the show itself was that it seemed smaller of a setup than what we had seen on the DVD videos advertising this. This may be due to the small size of the Honda center (and its impractically tight seating).
BUT, before all the fun we a very difficult time getting in the door.
1. We had paid for the tickets to be express shipped to our house but we ended up with a receipt looking page in the mail envelope. We assumed these were the tickets we paid for and had delivered to us.
2. Arriving at the show, parking was $15, which is nuts even for CA. I can park in downtown LA for much less.
3. No organization when we arrived. A line was forming, then reformed after staff realized what kind of crowd was arriving. People were leaving and coming back after running over to another line opposite ours. No signs, no line ballards, nothing.
4. When we got to the door, we were rudely turned away, telling us that what we had were not receipts. The door person quickly pointed to the side and said "you have to go around the building to the tickmaster counter. So much for having paid for express order of the tickets to the door, as that made no difference. So we started our trek around the Honda Center at night. My wife, who is diabetic and has arthritis is trying her best to keep up as we fight backwards through the crowd to get moving to the other side of the whole stadium, 3yr old in tow. Fortunately, we saw what ended up being a very competent employee, "Mike" in security. Explaining our situation to him, he led us inside again to a counter much closer.
5. Thank heavens we had both our I.D.'s on us. we were able to get tickets and find the seats.
Kudos to Mike in Security! You made the show a success for us.
In our opinion, if ticketmaster was not handling the process of seeing these kinds of shows, we would not have had the problems we had, and paid much less.
