    Poor Sound

by Kenny From Brooklyn on 3/24/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

UPMC Events Center: Donnie Iris 03 16 2024: This might well have been the worst sounding show that I have ever attended. The drum base and guitar base drowned out everything else, including Donnie's singing. I left the show two songs into Donnie's set. I do understand the acoustics complications of gymnasium hosted concerts but the sound for this show was awful to the extent that it was intolerable beyond the limits of the venue. Soundboard shame. I won't be back to this venue.

    Donnie’s back

by Sherry Z on 3/20/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Didn’t care for the Vindys. The Clarks were great, but Donnie stole the show. To be 81 & coming back from cancer he really showed us he’s still rocking!!!

    Donny is still the King

by Old lady on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Donnie is still the King of Cool. He can still rock! The Vindys were HIGH energy. And the Clarks always deliver. The venue, I believe, leaves something to be desired. The acoustics were not great. There was a loud echo at our seats on the floor and I struggled to hear the vocals from any of the bands. I thought maybe it was my age but everyone was my age there that night!! From the center back it seemed a little better.

    Great Concert!!!

by Donna on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

It didn’t matter that Donnie couldn’t run around the stage like he did last year. What mattered is he got his health back, and sounded fantastic!!! The show was awesome, and he definitely felt the love from the audience. I was on my feet the entire time, and loved every minute of it!! Thank you Donnie!! Hope to see you again soon!!

    Donnie Iris is 80

by Jdes on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Great venue, Vindy's were awesome! First time seeing the Clarks they were very good also. Donnie Iris was good he is 80 years old and the band had a lot of solo play to give him a breather. He played his hits and sounded great.

    Donnie Iris

by Ron on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

I won the tickets for the show on 102.5 WDVE back in November 2023. Couldn't wait until March 16th. Both the Vindys and The Clark's were good openers. I'm not as familiar with Donnie Iris' setlust as other bands I regularly listen to..( I like hard rock/heavy metal) but we thoroughly enjoyed the show. I was amazed at how good his voice was at the age of 81!!! He was still rocking up there. Especially since he recently beat cancer. I thought that when he brought up his oncologist to be recognized.. that was a touching moment. Overall really good time! Thanks WDVE!

A Great night with Donnie and the Cruisers!

by Stmerris on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

I have been waiting to see Do nice Iris and the Cruisers for a very long time. I bought my first Donnie "record"in 1981. I was instantly hooked. I was not disappointed in any way. I also liked the Clarks they have an unique sound especially when one of their their guitarist played the mandolin. I didn't like the Vindys they were louder than they needed to be and I couldn't understand one word their lead singer sang.

    Issues with sound.

by Big mike on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Donnie did very well, especially considering what he has been through. However, I will not go to that venue again for a concert. I saw the Doobie Brothers years ago there and this time I sat on the floor by the mix booth and the sound was still awful. There is nothing in that venue to absorb sound. Concrete walls and floor And a metal roof. They are going to continue to have concerts there. They need to put some sort of sound limiting system in there to absorb the sound and keep it from from bouncing all over the place.

    Local Legends of Rock

by PghArtifacts on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Great idea to have Donnie Iris performing with The Clarks and The Vindys! Having seen The Clarks and Donnie Iris & the Cruisers multiple times, this concert was special to hear them on stage together. Donnie's recovery from cancer to perform his hits was a great effort, despite his fatigue. We all felt connected to Donnie's songs, even when the Cruisers were given more latitude for improvisational solos. The addition of the accordion and whimsical Polka tune was truly inspired! Also, I particularly enjoyed the two songs at the end when all three lead singers collaborated on Gimme Shelter and With a Little Help from My Friends. However, concert went a little too long with three groups. And, this event center needs to figure out a better way to get visitors in-and-out of the venue more quickly. The side exits were inexplicably blocked, making for a slow process to leave the building. Fortunately, the demographics of the concert goers made for a patient exodus.

From start to finish, this was one of the best concerts we have attended. Tickets were reasonable and upon ordering I had the option to purchase real tickets.

    Seeing an Icon

by Bobby O on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Donnie Iris and the Cruisers are a generational show. We have seen a number of his "Birthday Bashes". The UPMC Center is a convenient venue to attend. Donnie gave it all despite his recent cancer bout stealing some of his off the wall energy. Donnie and the Cruisers rate a "5". The only reason I gave a "3"was the sound system had issues and it wasn't just for them. The problems were just as bad with the first group, the Vindy's and to a leeser extent the Clarks. The bass was over-whelming, not crisp (thought it was a heavy metal show since our seats were vibrating) and individual instruments and vocals got blurred together. Overall volume was way, way too loud. The keyboards for Donnie Iris were not audible until about a 1/3 of the way into the show. Also, a big problem was the bass guitar in addition to being over-whelming had a number of times where it caused feedback in the system. We will likely go again next year BUT sincerely hope significant sound system improvements will be made. The same problems occured two (2) years ago. We will gladly discuss this with the show's sound system experts.

    Sad

by Ark on 3/19/24UPMC Events Center - Moon Township

Donnie's great but he wasn't in any condition that one would need to be in too pull off a concert. Wish him the best.
