Donnell Rawlings is a force both on and off the stage as a comedian, actor and podcaster and this year, Donnell is fire - debuting his first stand-up special at the end of February for Netflix produced by his long-time friend Dave Chappelle.
This is one of four specials Dave is producing for Netflix who stated, "I've been doing this a long time and comedians like Donnell are not only friends but have inspired my own career. Anyone in the comedy community knows these names and knows their time to shine is long overdue. I am proud to be a part of this moment. Donnell is unapologetic about the fact that although this is his first special - which was recently filmed during the New York Comedy Festival at the Hard Rock Hotel - it is actually really the 3rd time Dave had him shoot it. The first taping filmed during Covid was too dated. Over the past few years, Donnell has been opening for Dave on the road and was literally destroying audiences around the world. Dave was captivated and was sure Donnell's new material would be timeless and exceeded everyone's expectations to the level it is today.
Donnell first caught the attention of the industry while his fan base exploded with his hilarious sketches as Ashy Larry on CHAPPELLE's SHOW, but it was his critically acclaimed role as Damien "Day-Day" Price on HBO's THE WIRE that turned heads and legitimized him as a serious actor and catapulted him in the theatrical world. Most recently, his role as Alvin in the hit STARZ TV series BMF and his unexpected return to the second season as well as his role as the snarky Mr. Earl in Adam McKay's acclaimed HBO series WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY grew his followers.

After co-starring in SNOOP DOGG's F*CN AROUND COMEDY SPECIAL, Donnell joined DAVE CHAPPELLE AND FRIENDS at the Hollywood Bowl and performed his own solo show during last year's Netflix Comedy festival - he will return again this Spring to the festival and continues to tour with CHRIS ROCK & DAVE CHAPPELLE across the globe and headline at clubs and theaters across the country.
Besides his stand-out role on CHAPPELLE's SHOW, Donnell was lauded for his role as Dez in Pixar's blockbuster film SOUL. In turn, Donnell was honored with The Redd Foxx Award by The African-American Humor Awards in 2021.
Donnell was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Alexandria, VA and served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in South Korea and at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Donnell's most significant part of his life is being a father to his 8-year-old son, Austen.
The show was special. To be a part of a live audience of a Netflix tapping was a unique experince. All of the comics were great. To top it off Dave Chappelle surprised most of us by showing up and spending a lot of time on stage.
He was so funny!!!! We laughed so hard I woke up with a soar throat the next day!!!!!!

The Birchmere is awesome as always. Donnell Rawlings had me laughing so hard! He took on hecklers and kept it moving. Great show. Can’t wait to see him again.

The overall show was Hilarious! All the acts that preformed that night had us in tears from the beginning to the end. I was very pleased with this show. Keep up the great work. Hampton roads needs more shows like this...
My fiance' and I arrived to the show around 9pm and the show was scheduled to start at 8:30pm. The show did not start until 9:30pm. However, due to poor promotion, THE ARENA WAS EMPTY. I could literally count all the people in attendance. What happened to the promotion? Who was responsible for getting the word out? It was a total failure! So much so, the comedians themselves were making fun of the scattered crowd throughout the arena. On top of that, the male and female on stage dancing with the DJ was unnecessary. Then when comics came to the stage, they were still standing behind him. Very unprofessional. It was 0 below Celsius in the arena as well; very unbearable to sit in. None of the musical acts showed and I am guessing because they didn't want to perform for a crowd of 200. This was such a bust and we did not have a good time. Please make sure when events like this are put on, it is heavily promoted. I wasted $105 that I would like to request back. It was not worth it at all.
This was my second time seeing him and was not disappointed. Hilarious and current comedy always.

Donnell Rawlings jokes about me too and fatherhood was on point. I wish he did some more material from the Chappelle show. I would go see him again. I also like his opening act comedian. Funny Funny Funny ! I love the Birchmere !

The show was just what I needed and I got to support a fellow Titan with a table full of Titans!
The show was funny overall starting from all of the opening acts all the way to Donnell. Donnell has refined his routine a lot where it's very polished and he had me laughing throughout his whole set. I definitely recommend seeing his shows.
Donnell Rawlings once again put on an amazing show. My husband and I originally saw Donnell as an opening act for Lyfe Jennings, and we were both impressed with his stand up, so we decided to purchased tickets to see him on July 2nd 2016. Birchmere is one of my husband's and I favorite places for date night and we really like Birchmere. The food and drinks are always good. The waiters and waitresses are very polite and professional at all times and this is our fourth time going to Birchmere and we love it.
I laughed from start to finish! Excellent show! Donnell Rawlings kept the audience engaged. Would love for him to come more often.
I wasn't really familiar with this comedian but wow, did I really enjoy his show. This comedian kept the crown laughing the entire time. Great Job Donnell! The Fat Doctor was great as well. Good job fellas!
