About

Nominated six times for an American Comedy Award, Dom Irrera's stand-up material was honed in a multi-generational Italian household in South Philadelphia with his mother, sister, grandmother, uncles and cousins all under one very big roof. His first big break was his performance on Rodney Dangerfield's "Nothing Goes Right" comedy specials for HBO. In 1989 Irrera's own HBO "One Night Stand" earned him his first CableACE award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Special. In '95 he won a second CableACE for the Showtime stand-up series he hosted, "Full Frontal Comedy". That same year he received a second CableACE nomination in the writing category for his work on Comedy Central's animated series, "Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist". He also starred in a solo stand-up special for HBO in '92 titled "Command Performance". He has performed on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "The Late Show with David Letterman", "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson", "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", "The View", and has made several appearances on "Oprah". As an avid sports fan, he hosted four seasons of Comedy Central's irreverent football show, "Offsides", where he conducted hilarious on-the-field interviews with football greats. He also hosted Comedy Central's "Behind the Scenes at the American Comedy Awards: specials in '98 and '99. Irrera was a series regular on the '98 Fox comedy "Damon" starring Damon Wayans and his guest-star credits include "Seinfeld", "Becker", "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "King of Queens". In addition, Dom voices the character Ernie, the demolitions expert, on Nickelodeon's "Hey Arnold". His film work includes a featured role in Robert Townsend's "Hollywood Shuffle", a cameo in the Coen Bros. Film, "The Big Lebowski", "The Fourth Tenor", starring old pal Rodney Dangerfield, and he played himself in the Rodney Dangerfield / Dom De Luise film, "The Godson". Dom has performed at Montreal's prestigious "Just For Laughs Festival" and the "Cat Laughs Festival" in Kilkenny, Ireland (he's made more appearances at both festivals than any other American comic). He also has performed at the "Melbourne Comedy Festival" in Australia, and at "Edinburgh Festival's" Assembly Hall. It was there that he received the "Herald Award" for artistic excellence.

Drinking is a choice and should never be forced

    by J. C. on 1/13/20The Comedy Club - Hollywood

My husband and I had just had dinner and we decided let's check out the comedy club. The comedian's were funny. However, being told by the waitress that if we didn't buy a drink we would have to leave was not so funny. It should be a choice of whether or not we buy drinks. It shouldn't be forced upon a couple or anyone. We felt as if we were being harrassed and pressured into buying a drink. Not cool, we would never go there again or recommended anyone to go there.

    Disappointing and Sad

    by E. S. on 1/13/20The Comedy Club - Hollywood

When we went to see Dom Irrera at the Hardrock in Hollywood, it turned out to be disappointing and tough. Dom was, unfortunately, very low energy, mumbling and just unable to get a grip. His opening act was okay and in the end, turned out to be a little better than Dom himself. Sad to see.

Not worth the money for Dom Irera

    by B. K. on 1/12/20The Comedy Club - Hollywood

The new venue is nice. The server was a sweet girl. But thank goodness the tix were BOGO because the actual comedy was sad. The opener/host was and old man who said he was a doctor by profession. He needs to not quit his day job. It was embarrassing how unfunny he was. He cut his own show down to 5 minutes because no one was laughing. The middle comedian was the best. He had the energy and enough laughable material to get me ready for Dom. Oh Dom how you’ve aged. I used to LOVE his shoes back in the day but I hate to say it, he needs to retire. He would talk more than do comedy bits. He would shout out at length to his friends in the audience and converse with them (since when is that entertaining to the rest of us?). When someone from the crowd would request a classic joke from the past he had these moments of clarity and was funny but that was it. Oh and the venue’s food option are two things: a beef empanada or a pretzel. No other food! The pretzel was cold and the server charged both of us $2 more than the price on the menu so check your bills before paying!!! They said the venue has been open now for 8 weeks so why are the registers not accurate? The entire show lasted less than 90 minutes. Sad.
