I have seen Doc only twice now in my life. I wish I hadn't waited so long. Doc is nothing less than fantastic. My wife and I really enjoyed the show.

    Amazing performer, amazing support

by Anonymous on 11/17/13Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

Doc Severinsen has long been one of America's greatest cornet players- and still is fabulous. He may have lost a step, but he was always so many feet ahead of everyone else that he's still great. His young band, though, was top-notch, including several professors of music from U of I. And blues/jazz singer Vanessa Thomas brought tears to my eyes, her voice was so beautiful and moving. All in all, a wonderful evening.

WAY TOO LOUD. The volume took me out of enjoying the concert instead of drawing me in. I would have liked more swing and less jazz. Wished Doc would have spoken some about his life and career.

Enjoyable. Would have been better if Doc would have talked a little between songs/sets about some of his past (particularly the Carson years0.

    Doc disappointing

by gowithgeorge on 4/21/13Effingham Performance Center - Effingham

Sound was too loud. The screeching trumpet and saxophone were amplified to the point of piercing. The only way I could listen was with Kleenex in my ears. Too much of the music sounded like the same song. This was definitely the worst show I've seen at epc.

Doc Severinsen still can play, at 85 years old! He is still a remarkable trumpet player and conductor. My friends and I were captivated during the entire concert.

An amazing evening with Doc & his big band. He's a legend and his (and the band's) performance was flawless. Plus the Effingham sound system was fantastic. Thanks Doc for an evening of memorable music!!

Too bad more people didn't see this amazing group of musicians led by Doc. Gil, the guitarist and Charley the violinist are virtuosos! The energy and spirit were infectious. If you get a chance...see these guys. Yoshis in Oakland this weekend.

Doc Rocked! I hope I am as full of life when I am his age. The Jazz Arts Group was a joy to hear. Overall the concert was a great success, I wish them 40 more years!

85 and still an incredible trumpeter!!!

    by 9teen8e on 10/3/12Southern Theatre - Columbus

What an evening! I am thankful I was in attendance for this evening of music to see this legend one more time. For a musician his age, he still has the chops, energy and stage presence that he has always had! A perfect compliment to the Jazz Orchestra and Byron!

Seeing Doc Severinsen with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra was an unforgettable experience. The CJO was amazing, as usual, and the addition of Doc's talent and personality were a perfect match.
