Dire Straits
by Anonymous on 10/7/18Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleWhile hoping for a magical show rewinding back to 1992 and earlier, we were preparing ourselves, for what we thought could be a lackluster performance. Arriving to Ft. Lauderdale from Chicago on Tuesday, for a Wednesday night concert, the question was: “Are we crazy flying to Florida to see some knock off band claiming the ability to pull off any modest reproduction of Dire Straits-one of the best live bands of the 80’s and early 90’s?”. This band delivered! I was pretty much blown away. I’m not sure how 8 musicians (4 of which were members of THE Dire Straits) could make economic sense of coming to the U.S. for a small line-up of shows, in what I believe were all relatively small venues. The musicians, their equipment, stage hands etc...I hope this tour met and exceeded their expectations, because the commitment for preparation and funding had to have been a “Labor of Love”! Deeper cuts, some of their major hits-great song selection for even the most avid Dire Straits fan. If they are back in the U.S., I will be attending future shows. I hope it happens.
