About

2013 was a particularly prolific year for Diplo. It included releasing music and embarking on a tour as one half of Major Lazer, his side-project with London-based DJ and producer Switch. It's also meant hitting the road for concerts at both the X-Games and Coachella. He even announced a new collaboration with Skrillex, called Jack U, which saw them make their live debut in San Diego in September. He followed that performance with a set of his own at Tomorrow World in Atlanta.
LA’s globe-conquering, trend-setting producer extraordinaire is perhaps most famous for his in-studio collaborations with the likes of Beyonce, Snoop Dog, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, and countless other hit-makers. However, Diplo cut his teeth as a performer in the underground clubs of Philly under the moniker Hooked on Hollertroniks in the early 2000s, drawing the likes of Bun B and M.I.A. out to see the growing legend for themselves. He would go on to collaborate with the latter on a number of mix tapes, starting with 2004's "Piracy Funds Terrorism Vol. 1" and three full-length LPs. Their song "Paper Planes" (which further enlisted the help of Switch) nabbed a Grammy nomination and reached #4 on Billboard’s US Hot 100.  He translated his success further to the mainstream in 2011 when he worked with Beyonce on songs "Run the World (Girls)" and "End of Time" for her fourth studio album "4," and produced singles for Usher and Marina and the Diamonds in 2012.

October 2013 saw the release of “Elastic Heart,” a song Diplo produced for former Zero 7 singer Sia as part of the "Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack." The track also features "The Weeknd."
Whether he’s performing solo at a private party or with Major Lazer in front of a towering array of LED displays, Diplo's genre-bursting cocktail of dub, dancehall, crunk, acid house, baile funk, Afro, and any other street beat he can get his hands on is just the ticket for party-goers around the world ready to wave anything that glows in the dark.

I've been looking forward to the MDBP for a couple years, but this was def a let down. The first act Luona was fine, the guys between her and Diplo were just ok. The one right before Diplo seemed like his sole purpose was to make people fall asleep. Diplo didn't even perform until close to 2pm, but I was ready to leave by then, because he would have had to live up to crazy expectations, which based off of his first 15minutes wasn't going to cut it.

    Do not waste your money!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymous on 7/10/18The Pool at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

One of the worst DJ's I've seen. Played songs you would hear in a bar and only played for 1.5 hours. Totally scam and mitch DJ. I was expected a longer set like most dj's play and more original songs.

    Mislead regarding venue time!

by Kriter on 11/29/17Echostage - Washington

I went to this concert expecting to see Diplo and he did not come on until 2:30am in the morning and by then I had been standing on my feet for six hours and was exhausted. Concert started at 9pm!!! Should get a refund! VERY DISAPPOINTED! Left before he started and this was a bday gift that I was so excited about! Very frustrated!

    BEST SHOW YET

by Ryezi on 11/28/17Echostage - Washington

Once buying my ticket I was a little skeptical because I didn't like Diplo's music but once I heard his live set, it was worth the money. I learned to not judge an EDM artist by the music they put out but base them on their live performance. I will definitely see Diplo again if he comes to D.C. If you're on the fence whether, or not, you want to see him GO.

    Lacked so much

by Ecuappi4u on 7/10/17Golden Nugget - Atlantic City

I'll keep it quick .... haven in AC can't handle big concerts.... the area where the in front of the dj was too small and everyone pushed hard.... Diplo played nothing like his festival sets just a bunch of the same music you hear at the club... left 3/4 of the way .... disappointed

    Diplo 45 minutes

by SRedfern on 5/17/16The Pool at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

I was a little disappointed that Diplo only came out for 45 minutes. The opening DJ's were good but I would have like to see more Diplo.

Didn't even know he was there...

by washeeventhere on 4/27/16The Pool at Talking Stick Resort - Scottsdale

Diplo was more than an hour late, might have been 2 hours. I barely noticed when he did arrive, the only difference between his music and the music the rest of the day was someone was standing on stage. Waaaaay overpriced.

It wasn't as fun as I expected it ti be. Our server took way too long to get our drinks after an hour and a half we tracked her down and got our cards back and then our drinks that we ordered were wrong. We paid for them and then realize that they had absolutely no alcohol in them. We were basically paying for overpriced water with a splash of cranberry. I also thought that diplo would play more of the music that he's known for instead of hip-hop/trap music. It would've been nice to have more of an announcement when he first got on stage.

There are absolutely no words to describe just how AMAZING DIPLO was!!!!!!!!! I wish I could relive that day over and over again. Somehow my friends and I made it all the way to the front of the stage and that experience was unbelievable. He brought so much energy, you never stopped jumping/dancing. Definitely would recommend to see him as I'll be seeing him if and when he decides to come back to perform.

    Terrible

by AldehydeQQ on 1/2/15Echostage - Washington

Diplo didn't go on until 1, and there were about 1000 people too many in the venue. I've been to hundreds of concerts and this was by far the most crowded and uncomfortable.

Diplo was amazing! I'm glad he played a pretty long set! Even though he had to be in New York the same night, he played a decent time unlike other dj's who make a brief appearance! Echostage is always packed when I go, but it's tolerable to see your favorite artists live!
