When I heard that Dimash Kudaibergen, a singer without a rival in the world today, in terms of vocal abilities, stage presence and humble personality, was going to give a concert in NY in December, I did not hesitate a second and bought tickets for me and my hubbie. We flew from Iceland a few days before, ready to enjoy New York, and ultimately, hear this unique singer in a concert that turned out to be almost three hours' long, sing with a voice you'll only hear from one human in your lifetime, if you're that lucky. Many generations have and will live their lives on this Earth without having the fortune to hear such a singer, we who are fortunate enough to live in the same era as Dimash should all hear him at least once in our lifetime. I first heard him sing on YT, the song SOS, and was stuck in his vocal dimension after a few tones, totally in awe and feeling I had heard something that would change my life. I became a Dear instantly and have since then followed his development as an artist and young person who is rapidly gaining recognition globally. The concert on December 10th was unforgettable and I sure hope he'll return to the USA so that more people there can enjoy his singing. And I hope he'll be able to sing on all continents and that as many as possible can hear him because to hear him and learn about him makes you a better person, a more happy, compassionate and loving human; something we really need in the world today. Art can change that - art that knows no boundaries, is oblivious to the colour of people's skin, their ethnicity and gender, religion, political ideology ... whatever that divides us or rather - what we think divides us! The concert was a gathering of thousands of Dears and others who were willing to share an evening with Dimash, hear him sing, listen to him express his thoughts, seeing his joy and gratefulness, experiencing a humble and graceful soul who spreads love wherever he goes, is as human as a human can be, still takes you to heaven when he sings, leaves you changed forever because his art transcends all boundaries. The term "envoy" took on a real, tangible meaning that night in Barclays center; before us stood an individual who is as much an envoy of love, compassion and true art as anyone can ever be. Love from Iceland!
