About

DIANA ROSS IN CONCERT:

As Billboard's "Female Entertainer of the Century," Diana Ross holds an unrivaled place among R&B's rich history of legendary divas. From her time leading the Supremes to her extraordinary solo career, Ross's supple voice, striking looks, and effortless style have made her a timeless icon, as charismatic today as she was in the '60s. Featuring her greatest hits, Motown-inspired backup singers, and all the costume changes you'd expect from a diva's diva, Ross's 2013 shows stunned, setting expectations sky high for her 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Detroit, Ross rose to international superstardom in the '60s as leader of the Supremes, the group that became Motown Records'  golden goose with an unprecedented ten No. 1 hits between the years 1964-1967. After fulfilling her contract with the group, Ross released her self-titled solo debut in 1970, earning her first Grammy nomination with soul classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Following the success of her first solo TV special Diana!, Ross once again topped the charts with 1973's "Touch Me in the Morning," going on to release a hugely successful duet album with Marvin Gaye later that year. In addition to her chart success, Ross established herself as a skilled actor with acclaimed appearances in classic '70s films including Mahogany and The Wiz. Over a career that spans more than half a century, Ross has released 27 Top 40 singles, earning a Guinness World Record as the most successful female artist of all time.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Diana is still the beautiful diva she's always been and stuns in her many sparkling costumes, singing all of the many, many favorites that have made her loved by so many."

"Her voice was wonderful. She was so professional and knew how to work a crowd. Great selection of songs. And her costume changes were fantastic."

"Still a Diva, glamorous, elegant, classy... It was a wonderful show. The crowd in New Orleans adored her, were on their feet almost the entire time, singing along and dancing to her hits -- all well-delivered."

Would have been nice if she came to the left side

by Fernwood on 5/20/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

The concert was great, her voice was beautiful, her tribute to Motown was great & her dedication to Michael Jackson brought tears to my eyes. Only problem was our seat were on the left side of the stage & only 12 rows back but she did not perform at all on the left side of the stage & at times she even had her back to us. Focusing completely on the right side of the stage - Every said the Maoyr must have been on the right side because it was all about whoever was sitting there. Occasional she went to the middle of the stage but show only came near the left side when she was exiting the stage to change costumes - All of us in left side section were talking about it - We paid the same fee as the right side & were not happy. That being said everything else was great

    Oldtimer disappointed

by cartagena on 5/20/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

I was disappointed because Ms. Ross' repertoire did not include more blues and was more about pop and disco music.

    Diana Ross was amazing!

by BlackFashionDude on 5/20/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

Although Ms. Ross was 20 minutes late arriving to the stage, she more than made up for it with her 1 hour and 40 minute set. She was engaging as she belted out tunes that span her 50 year career including her days with the Supremes. The band included a full horn and strings section that gave her classics a full bodied sound. Her vocals were on point and she did all the costume changes she is known for. And the section of the show that she dedicated to Michael Jackson was tasteful and poignant. Diana Ross is a class act.

by Spunk01 on 5/20/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

Diana Ross is better than ever. Such a dynamite performer. Her song selections and rapport with the audience made this the greatest concert ever. Her tribute to Michael Jackson at the end was very moving. I danced and sang during the entire concert and so did most of the patrons. If she is in your area, you must attend and get your groove on.

    Ms. Ross!

by Turnout on 5/20/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

I was a little disappointed that the show started late, and did not last long. I wish I could have heard some more of my favorite songs as well. Over all it was my first time seeing her in person and I thought there would be more in comparison to other concerts I have heard about.

Diana Ross, "Lady Sings the Tunes!" May 19, 2010

by GDSUnlimited on 5/20/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

The New York Radio City Music Hall concert was all I hoped it would be. Though starting about 10-15 minutes behind schedule, believe me it was well worth the wait! The band (really a half orchestra) was very good. The personnel was comprised of 17 musicians, including a 4 piece horn section, 5 piece string section, guitars, keyboardists, percussionists and 3 back-up singers. They were all quite talented and had a chance to show case their stuff! Ms. Ross appeared after a brief light show, accompanied by video images of herself at different points in her career. When she first appeared, it was rising out of an elevated stand behind the band. She wore a bright yellow coat/plume of boa feathers over a black and silver sequined gown! She looked great and was in very good voice! The singing and music were all LIVE! Ms. Ross opened with "The Boss." That was followed with a Motown tribute, Pictures of many famed Motown artist were displayed on a large video screen, positioned above and behind the musicians. Then Ms. Ross launched into a variety of up-tempo hits by the Supremes. Images of the different groupings of Supremes, from the "classic" Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson, then with Cindy Birdsong and other members, it was a welcome blast from the past! Moving into some ballads, Ms. Ross showed that she still has "the pipes" and has taken care of her vocal instrument! She weaved in numbers from her movies, "Lady Sings the Blues," "Mahogany" and "The Wiz." The "Lady" segment transformed the stage setting into a bluesy night club atmosphere. At several points during the nearly two hour show, Ms. Ross stepped off stage near the end of a tune. As the band played, she would chime in with lyrics to keep the party going! And within 2 to 3 minutes she would re-appear in a dazzling new gown! All in all, she worked 6 or 7 entirely different outfits! Towards the end on the show, Ms. Ross performed a song she initially did to honor the passing of Marvin Gaye. This night she sang "I'm Missing You" in tribute to Michael Jackson. It was very moving. In fact, the show and her tour are in tribute to the former lead singer of the Jackson 5. Ms. Ross has been credited with finding and bring Michael and his brothers to the attention of Motown founder Berry Gordy. The rest, as they say, is history! Leaving the stage and returning for an encore, Ms. Ross introduced her fellow performers. They were all well received and applauded by an appreciative audience. Upon completing her last number, Ms. Ross concluded the concert, having taken us on a grand trip! We just "Eased on down the road!!!" GDSUnlimited

    Still a Diva

by rhkfreespirit on 5/20/10Radio City Music Hall - New York

Amazing concert for an icon who has been a star for over 45 years (my first record album was Supremes A Go Go!). I just wish she would sing only the songs that she made famouns rather than songs that are not Diana Ross songs such as "I Will Survive" or "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" ....there are soooo many better songs for her to choose from her own songbook.

Diana is a superstar!! She sang, She was enagaing and she looks great. Her voice is still there although not a strong as it used to be, but that's expected. Her noteworthy styling of her songs was as good as ever. She's dazzling!!
