About

DevilDriver has carved out a place for themselves in the metal world by churning out groove-oriented, riff-heavy music that serves the artistic vision of the band, rather than the whimsical trends of mainstream music. This approach is ever apparent on Winter Kills, the band's recent release on Napalm Records. Live concerts give ticket holders their money's worth and feature the band's founder and frontman Dez Fafara engaging with audiences in a one-on-one style exchange that uses the band's best to bring out the crowd's best. The legendary circle-pit concerts deliver a seamless sonic blast of DevilDriver's hit songs. Their sixth album was released in the summer of 2013 and features the band's signature California Groove and seethes with raw, biting tones, thunderous drums and outside-the-box lyrics that completely defy the status quo.

The band was formed in Santa Barbara, CA, when Farfara was then singing in nu metal outfit Coal Chamber. His desire to push the envelope and create music that presented a greater challenge to himself and listeners led him to seek out new collaborators. He eventually attracted the right musicians, and after weeding through a list of over 200 band names, the handle DevilDriver was settled upon. Their first self-titled album was released in 2003 on Roadrunner Records. The band soon hit the road and began touring to support the record. The band released four more records with Roadrunner, including The Fury of Our Maker's Hand in 2005, The Last Kind Words in 2007, Pray for Villains in 2009 and Beast in 2011. The band will be reaching out to their European fan base in 2014, with an impressive list of tour dates for March and April. DevilDriver proves that trends can be set by the artists themselves through genuine, head-on engagement with fans.

    Devil Driver kicks Ass!!!

by demrich on 5/23/11Harpos - Detroit

The show had probably 3 or 4 too many opening local acts but once Devil Driver hit the stage it made you forget all that. The whole band is outstanding and sounded great. I especially liked the energy the bassist brought. Holy cow, he brought it! I gotta say they are one of the best out there right now. Great show! A++

DevilDriver a must see for metal fans!

    by Bretzel78 on 5/23/11Harpos - Detroit

Didn't let me down. Tix were $15, and one the best shows that I have seen. Sick of paying $60 for shows in a huge venue and crappy seats. DevilDriver is ON!

    Devildriver @ Harpo's Detroit 5-21-11

    by 101pantera on 5/23/11Harpos - Detroit

Devildriver was very good live. An awesome stage presence. If I could change anything about the event it would be eliminating most of the opening acts. I understand that bands need to get their band known from the stage but there was too many. Doors opened at 5. I got there at 7. I still had to sit through 4 or 5 bands. Devildriver didnt get on stage until after 10. That would have been fine but it cut into their stage time. They were only out there for about an hour. And for me that sucks considering that they have 5 albums and hours of gread heavy metal music they could have played.

    Devildriver was great

by rockinchef on 2/8/11The Intersection - Grand Rapids

My third time seeing devildriver and my favorite. It was great to see them headlining instead of second stage. I do wish the set was a little longer, but who would want this to end.

Devildriver was great once again. Put on a high energy show in an awesome venue. Got turned on to the supporting acts which I initially wasn't too sure of....Cancer Bats and Baptized In Blood.

    I love Devildriver...period.

    by scalawag4life on 9/8/10Harpos - Detroit

I'll never understand why Devildriver is not more of a draw than they are, at least in Detroit. The venue was only half full. For selfish reasons I like that though. But I do know that those who do come are true fans. I have seen them four or five times at Harpos and they have always delivered. These guys bring a blistering set everytime! Dez and the boys come hard and pack the show with mosh inducing pain. This time around they played a little bit from each album. From songs like "I Could Care Less" to "Pray for Villans". My neck was very sore the next day from rockin'...perfect! Whenever they come around, I'll do my best to be there.

by 51506505 on 9/5/10Concrete Street Amphitheater - Corpus Christi

The best act was Kataklysm. Devil Driver had a good show i guess. Im just not into them. Devil Driver had strobes and everything. Kittie was disappointing. Hostility was pretty great and not to mention a good group of fellas. I could not stand Misery. I think the fact that Kataklysm have been doing this since like '91 and they are metal legends. Im sure there is a good reason they didn't headline. I guess it is Devil Driver's tour so the should headline but, kittie should not have played after Kataklysm.

    Abolsutely Kick ASS

by fivemagics on 8/29/10Alrosa Villa - Columbus

This show was so amazing. It was very intimate. Kataklysm played excellent, Kittie was so fun and those girls keep up with the boys. Devildrive... jeeze. Dez had gone early to make sure the barriers were taken down and made sure the fans knew we were all "family" and would take care of one another. He said "our stage is your stage" and just asked people not to touch the guitar players, allowed stage diving, stage dived himself. So much energy, it was impossible not to smile. AWESOME SHOW

    Fantastic Metal Show

    by ssjcody4 on 8/28/10ELEANOR RIGBY'S - Jermyn

The bands that came on, not just devildriver, kittie, and kataklysm, put on great performances but the final 3 bands made the show what it was. Being that the venue was a small place, these bands didn't have alot of people to play for and gave great performances. I was a little upset that kataklysm and especially Kittie were kinda rushed for time and were only able to play a couple of songs, but they played like there were alot more watching. Devildriver put on one of the best performances I've seen in a while, just because of the small venue, they were reaching over into the crowd and really gave the audience what they wanted. I would absolutely say this was the best show I've seen in a while.

An amazing concert. Suffocation almost stole the show but DevilDriver came out and released the chaos! The pits were great and the singer sounded amazing. There was quite a bit of speaking to the crowd which was appreciated. Overall, all the bands were great.

by Theatrocity on 2/8/10Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Best concert i've ever been to. Best 18 bucks ive ever spent. Basically the whole venue was a moshpit. As hard as it is to sound good live they sounded pretty good. "note Basist from Goatwhore is not on the tour. Bassist from Thy will be done is covering for him" And does a good job.

Best show I've ever been to!!!

by devildriver676 on 2/7/10Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

The Culture Room is sort of an icon in the Florida music scene almost up there with the House of Blues. They really have it together with organization and putting together a killer line up. But that didn't mean the bands would be any good since I had never seen any of them live. Not to my surprise, the line up was solid gold! Every band was top notch and up to par on their A game. Even the band Goatwhore who I had never really paid any attention to, really impressed me. But out of all the bands, DevilDriver made the night, hands down! It's very cliche to say that about the headliner, but I'm not one to care much. Since I had purchased the meet and greet, it was basically a dream come true getting to meet the guys is DD. Awesome dudes with a really great attitude toward the fans and giving out signatures. I mean, there are some bands who just do it because of their management, and they have no true positive attitude toward the fans, But, beside this, DevilDriver's performance was outstanding! I really didn't have any doubts that it wouldn't be anything shy of incredible, but you don't always know what to expect. To make it simple, the band was tight and played all of their songs to par, almost exact to every recorded version. It was like going out and having someone play the recorded songs really loud over a PA system, but minus the energy. It did not disappoint! When DevilDriver come back, I would hope to see them play at the Culture room again, and I would recommend it to every fan out there! Enough said.

    METAL

by OSSQX on 2/7/10Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

The Culture Room has the atmosphere and sound that fits loud, powerful Metal music. The main atraction for me was the dinamic due of Goatwhore and Suffocation playing short but intense sets. Goatwhore's style encompases everyhthing that makes extreme rock appealing to old scholers and younger audiences wanting to experience trends-free Metal. As for Suffocation, I was impressed, thrilled, and happy to see them finally for the first time. Being an old fan of their pummeling Death Metal style, I was a bit aprehensive about how the sound will affect the bands performance. I'm glad to report that the power of the music was preserved and the sound came clear and loud. Overall, the night was filled with excellent music and great people. I'll come back in the future for sure!
