  • Symphony Pops Conductor was the Highlight

by Eric of Orion on 7/10/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 4 out of 5

The Detroit Symphony Pops conductor was outstanding. Enrico Lopez-Yañez. He was a delight. Entertainment at its best. The low light was the stage. The stage needed to be terraced to watch and listen to the talented orchestra members. The curtains were open on stage left and right. You could see all the "junk"off stage. Meadow Brook Amphitheater is not what it used to be when it was the summer home of the Detroit Symphony. Kind of dirty, dumpy, unfreindly, and over priced concessions. 313's "Guest Experience"was poor at best: acted like they could care less about the paying guests. Orchestra Hall's staff is much much better. The Detroit Symphony is great. The essemble playing John Williams was terrific.

  • Movie music fun

by GT 10 on 7/10/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Enjoyed the memories of movies as the music played. Conductor was pretty entertaining as well. He connected John Williams to each song with an anecdote, like Spielberg discovering Williams from a John Wayne movie in 1973. Also loved the Star Wars closing!

  • A wonderful evening of music

by Greg on 7/10/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

We love going to Meadowbrook and booked tickets for the DSO featuring the music of John Williams. William's music is extraordinary and the DSO did not disappoint. I can't tell you what it was like to experience the melodies of Star Wars, Jaws, Close Encounters and a host of other themes with a live orchestra. The pops conductor also contributed to the evening with background stories and dressing in Harry Potter and Star Wars costume. We are very fortunate to have such talented musicians performing for us.

  • wonderful experience

Seeing the Detroit symphony Orchestra was great but hearing the music of one of the greatest composers of our time was fantastic. The weather was a litlle warm but at least the rain held off. Great experience. I saw the same show 34 years ago and it was great then.

  • Great night, lots of fun

by Cindy on 7/9/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

The music reminded me of movies I had seen. Beautifully played by the orchestra. The conductor had a great sense of humor, added to the fun.

  • Amazing works of John Williams

by Brian P on 7/9/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

DSO did an incredible job on the iconic John Williams themes. Of course Star Wars was a huge hit and they did it justice. Amazing composer and blown away with how many theme songs he did and we didn’t realize. “Orchestra” seating at Meadowbrook was just ok. Should have just avoided adding extra seats down that low. Was hard to see and you go in expecting those seats to be amazing.

  • Return to Meadow Brook

by Sinestro on 7/9/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

We had attended DSO performances at Meadow Brook many years ago when the orchestra performed there regularly. Having seen the DSO at Greenfield Village last 4 of July, we took this opportunity to return to Meadow Brook in the summer. The concert was excellent, the conductor did a wonderful job communicating with the audience and the John Williams selections were perfect for a warm summer evening. Paid extra for premium parking, a worthwhile expense as we are both near 70. Entering took a long time due to Security having problems with their scanners. Was able to leave easily after the show. We miss the old days when you could bring a picnic to eat on the lawn. Nowadays you can't bring in anything bigger than your wallet and the concessions seem limited to Little Caesars fare.

  • Absolutely amazing show!!

by Daisy on 7/9/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was fabulous & I really loved Meadow Brook, so accommodating to handicap people like myself. Would definitely see The DSO there again, and others. My only issue would be the prices at the concession, it’s absurdly over priced for a pretzel & a beer, $30+

  • John Williams

by Fan of the DSO on 7/9/25Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Concert was excellent. The conductor, Enrico Lopez-Yañez, did a fantastic job of providing facts about John Williams and his musical scores. He entertained with his costumes and humor throughout the concert. Very well done.
