    Katie Smith is Awesome!

by skygirlvon on 7/14/09The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills

What can I say....watching the Detroit Shock is just a blast! Katie Smith is so awesome to watch too; that women can really play some serious basketball. Their game against the Sparks was incredible; hopefully they can keep it going and end up in the playoffs again!

    The Shock battled and won!

by teptoe on 7/14/09The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills

The arena was electric, the fans were hyped and the Shock were ready to battle. I had never been to a game in person and was surprised how loud it was, and how utterly exciting it was to watch a live game......I will be back, guaranteed!

    Shockful

With a depleted squad the Shock still beat a good L.A. team making opening night very enjoyable.

    Shock smother Sparks

by Rambo92 on 7/14/09The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills

Man i was so looking forward to an epic battle between the Shock and Sparks. Even without Candice Parker, Plenette Pierson and Sheryl Ford this matchup was more interesting because of its history. We can't forget about the other marquee players in action, Legends Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson of Sparks, Katie Smith and Deanna Nolan for the Shock. The ring presentation for the defending champions was great now the battle begins.....or so i thought. The first few minutes was a stand still. Both teams playing great defense yet nervous. Something however happened to the Sparks. Minutes flew by without a basket being scored. The Shock begin scoring at will. The next thing you know the Sparks have 5 points in the entire first quarter. It got worse from there. Detroit suffocated the Sparks with defense and a lot of the time they didn't need defense because the Sparks begin missing layups as well. By halftime the lead was 30. The Sparks showed a few flashes of life but the Shocks performance was stellar. I was only disappointed because it was a long drive and sort of costly for me to go to a first quarter massacre. You want unpredictable outcomes but closer ones. Would i go to another game....Yes i would because regardless of bad scores theres always memorable plays

by sbearketola on 7/14/09The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills

The Game was great, we lost it for ourselves. I could not believe that they had so many miss connections. But I thought the game was great. If you want to see great Basketball, come out to the Detroit Shock.
