Detroit Red Wings History

Founded in 1926, the Red Wings are one of the NHL's Original Six franchises. The team has captured 11 Stanley Cup Championships, most recently in 2008, as well as six conference championships and 19 division titles. As of 2023, the Red Wings have the most Stanley Cup trophies of any U.S.-based NHL franchise. Eight Red Wings players have their jersey numbers hanging from the Little Caesars Arena rafters: Leonard Patrick “Red” Kelly, Terry Sawchuk, Nicklas Lidström, Ted Lindsay, Gordie Howe, Alex Delvecchio, Sid Abel, and Steve Yzerman.

The Red Wings were purchased in 1982 by Mike and Marian Ilitch, who invested their family savings in 1959 to open the first Little Caesars store in a Detroit suburb.

Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena

Little Caesars Arena is an anchor of a world-class sports and entertainment district known as The District Detroit and received the prestigious Sports Facility of the Year award at the 2018 Sports Business Awards Ceremony. • Absolutely Loved It

by Jay on 3/15/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

It was the best time ever I really like how they keep it exciting but one thing I don’t really care for is how expensive the food is that’s a little crazy

  • Great venue!

by steph on 3/15/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I was here to watch my Boston Bruins beat the Wings. Well, that didn't happen, but we had a great time, nonetheless! Everyone we met on staff was friendly and courteous; everyone worked to make our visit a wonderful experience. One usher told us we must go visit the Gondola, and directed us to the elevator. What a view!!!! YEOWZA Had a fun conversation with the organist while being amazed. The concessions prices were not terrible - I was expecting worse. And best of all was the very short line to the ladies' rest room after the game! Except for our loss, it was a fantastic afternoon!

  • The game was great they won the arena is great also

by Dee on 3/15/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

The only issue was that parking prices are a big rip off come on 50 dollars even 30 is too much. You should be ashamed that this is allowed.

  • The game experience was great like it always.

by Joe on 3/15/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Exiting the street lot was slow and took 30 minutes to get out. Not a well organized exit from the parking lot.

  • Great Game, Great Venue!

by Ted on 3/13/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

We took my dad to his first hockey game at the new Little Caesars arena. he had a great time! The game was great the arena was great, but for some reason they have now made the parking structures only accessible with parking passes. This wasn't the case previous times we've gone. We parked in a lot run by the team, but there was no direction after the game and it took 45+ minutes to get out of the lot.

  • Son’s first game!

by Becky on 3/11/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

My son got this game as a present for his birthday! His first time at a Wings game and both of our firsts at LCA!

  • Love this team!

by M Pell on 3/5/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Was a great game even though we did have an overtime lose. Just love this team and live sporting events. So much fun and great seats.

  • Great show!

by Nate on 2/14/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Visiting from canada, had a great time! Excellent production values, great lighting effects, sounded pretty good though the low end was a little weak. Loved the video teams efforts with the George bit!

  • Amazing time at the hockey game

by Bubbles on 2/10/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

  • Don’t come hungry! Prices are ridiculous

by Ellebelle on 1/27/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

It was a great game and experience but the concessions are beyond expensive. Beer is about $13-$15/cup. Small bag of nuts $7, large pop is $9, small bag of popcorn is $6. It’s crazy that the venue can charge these prices.

  • Red Wings

  • Worth the Trip!

by Leah on 1/24/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

We traveled 5 hours to see the Red Wings; and while they didn’t win, we had a great time! The arena experience was fantastic.

  • Great Venue

by KrisB on 1/24/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

The overall experience was great. The venue was amazing and the food was well priced and tasty. Overall a great experience for the money that we spent.

  • It was a great family event

by Mishy Wishy on 1/17/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

The venue is amazing and very interactive for kids. It's clean and has food and beverage options spaced throughout. I have two items that could be better. First is the ticketing system. You must use your phone to enter with the app. While this is fine for me, I always feel bad for people (elderly mostly) that are not comfortable with technology, so they miss out. I don't know if there is a work-around, but there should be. Next was the area dedicated for Uber. If you are going to have a designated place for Uber pickup, DON'T CLOSE THAT STREET. So many people had to walk-run to try and find their car since the drivers could not get to the designated spot. Other than that, all good.

  • Nice arena!

by Ryan M on 1/17/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

It was a very nice arena but the portal system was silly. It made no sense.

  • Lower Bowl

by jose can u see on 1/17/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

This was the 1st time we sat in lower bowl, all others were in upper deck. The seats were more comfortable but not as wide as The Joe. Just think how remarkable the Arena would have been if they'd showed a little love to those seating upstairs. Ok, enough for the past on 2 the present: our seats were row 16, high enough to track the puck and high enough to see and follow action at the other goal. Looking up and around i really was impressed with the Arena and outside the concourses were extra wide as not to be clostraphobic. After experiencing top and bottom seats I'd give it a 8.3 out of 10

Just a beautiful night out! The atmosphere is wonderful and the game was exciting.

  • good game

by Rob on 1/15/23Little Caesars Arena - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

The event was good and a lot of excitement. It is disappointing that the Canadian Club concession stand no longer serves Canadian Club whiskey. Had dinner at the Mother board and it was good food and fast service which is important in that type of venue. Appears all the timeout events are geared to lower bowl ticket holders which is disappointing as not everyone can afford those seats.
