Denver Nuggets History
One of the founding teams of the American Basketball Association in 1967, the Denver Nuggets franchise was originally known as the Denver Rockets. They preemptively changed their name to the Nuggets before the 1974–75 season, anticipating a move to the NBA (where Houston’s team already had the name). In their nine ABA seasons, the Nuggets made the playoffs seven times — losing in the finals to the New York Nets in the league's final year.
They were one of four ABA teams annexed to the NBA in 1976 and immediately were one of the most successful teams, winning the Midwest Division two straight years behind future Hall of Famers David Thompson and Dan Issel. In 1980, the arrival of another future Hall of Famer, high-scoring forward Alex English, began a run of nine consecutive seasons in the playoffs. Coach Doug Moe's offensive-minded squads made it past the first round of the playoffs four times, falling three times in the conference semifinals and once in the conference finals, in 1985 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team had only one winning season in the 1990s, but it was a memorable one. After finishing 42-40 to sneak into the playoffs as the eighth seed in the 1993–94 season, they upset the top-seed Seattle Supersonics in the first round of the playoffs, thanks in no small part to center Dikembe Mutombo's heroics.
Led by 2003 first-round draft pick Carmelo Anthony, the Nuggets reversed their fortunes to post 10 straight winning seasons beginning with the 2003–04 season. The Nuggets won their first NBA championship in 2023, led by two-time league MVP and Finals MVP Nikola Jokić, who collected his third regular season MVP in 2024.

Super dope was a great game great seats plus tha win 🤘🏼
Arrived about 30 minutes before game time. Parked in Elitch lot. 45 steps up, 45 down. Electronic tickets worked well, no wait for entrance. Found seats and enjoyed snack food. Nuggets dominate. Enjoyable experience throughout.
Always clean, always friendly staff!! Everyone is so helpful and always smiling!! My 2nd home!!
Nobody in stadium could scan the food voucher that came with the ticket.
Saw the Denver Nuggets play the Memphis Grizzlies. It was our first time to this venue do we got the 300 level seats. They are not for those who are afraid of heights or need alot of room. Also, bring glasses to see the game since it's pretty far away. We didn't know what vender to get food at so chose Wyncoop Fried Chicken. Boy, what a mistake! Dry, cold sandwich and fries! Yuck. There isn't anywhere to officially do a review of the concessions at Pepsi Center to warn other people. The design of Pepsi Center is circular so before, during and after the game it was incredibly crowded. It doesn't feel safe if there was an emergency to be honest. It took a long while to filter down the hall to the escalator or stairs in order to exit and it was literally just a stampede. Not sure we will ever attend a game again at this venue.
The crowd was awesome and I had great seats. Definitely something I would do again.
The Pepsi center was great as usual. The nuggets won so it was a good night.
Enjoyed the game, Nuggets played ok, but need a super top performance to beat King James
The Nuggets are fantastic and always put on a great show. Especially with the current TV black out you’ve got to go see them live. This is more about the current state of the club level. This year the prices all went up and yet the new food vendor took away half of the stands and also took away seat service with the food. The experience of the club level has gone down. Unfortunately I have to assume we are stuck with it. I also can’t figure why they took away the souvenir cups in the building.
First time the wife and I had ever been to a Nuggets game, had a blast! Everything about it was awesome from the easy trio to the Pepsi center via light rail, to affordable tickets, to great food and drink. Rocky the mascot was especially entertaining! Will be going again soon! Go Nuggets!!!
Had a great time with my grandson at our first professional basketball game, a thrilling come from behind victory for the Denver Nuggets. The crowd was amazing. We enjoyed the entertainment especially Slushii and also the slam dunk event. An unforgettable time with my grandson.
Great to go to a game - I’ve never had the chance and took the opportunity whilst away with work. Prices were good value and entertainment was on-stop. Game did go on a bit long - Over 2 hours for 48 minutes of actual basketball.
The sound was impossible last year, but this year it is ok. Thank Goodness. and the game was fabulous GO NUGGETS!!
We had a good time! I'm disappointed that from the upper level you cannot hear due to the actual sound system. I would think in a venue like that, they would at least have a few speakers up there.
Full price tickets for a preseason game with maybe 3,000 fans in attendance marred by the incessant bass beat of ongoing music throughout play. Every time the players we came to watch play basketball, the Nuggets or NBA insist fans need loud music to create interest. No pauses, no time to just enjoy basketball. And in between play during time outs, it is often a very similar loud bass driven cacophony. Nuggets, NBA, have a little faith in the game. We actually game to see it not hear your D.J.'s mix or catch up on the latest tunes. Just saying
Great Game and Great Seats...!!! As a transplant form CA to the Denver I am a fan of both Teams....Really enjoyed the competition...HAted to see Nuggets Lose....want series to go to Game 7.....but was happy for Kobe and the Boys... Can't wait til lnext Season....The Nuggets may do it in 2010...!
Although the game didn't go in the Nuggets favor, the atmosphere was amazing! It was awesome to see so many Nuggets fans cheering for their team.
It was a sad to see the playoffs end for the Nuggets. They have so much talent. We have been following the Nuggets since my grandson was little. It was so wonderful to see them get this far. The 5th game against Dallas was the best game, EVER. We went to a lot of playoff games and they energy was not there for this game.
We went to the Nuggets Round 2 game 5 against the Mavericks. It was great playoff basketball and a great playoff atmosphere. We cant wait to go to more playoff games for years to come. Plus, there is no bad seat at the Pepsi Center
It was a good game besides the fact that they lost- losing the series and their change at an NBA Title!!!! :(
