Every time I see Dennis Deyoung, it gets better and better. This was no exception. While Dennis is a fantastic performer, he is also a very funny guy. When he wasn't singing he had the crowd laughing.
Dennis put on a solid show, stayed true to the original renditions of the songs, yet added just enough variation to keep things interesting. Lousy weather kept the attendance way down, but still engaged.
What can I say, the man is a legend!!!!!!!! One of the best shows I have ever seen.
The show with Dennis DeYoung was disappointing to me. I have seen Dennis DeYoung about 7 times. I love him and his voice. I am usually in awe at the way he sings and his concert. However, this time I was disappointed due to Dennis being sick. I feel he should have canceled his show and rescheduled it for a later date.
Dennis still has it. Great voice, great show, great sense of humor and his new song is the best he has ever written - "100 years from now" Wait staff at BB King was the worst, maybe it was just our waitress. She looked totally spaced out. did not understand the simplest order. Friend at another table were going up to bar for drinks because she was so bad. but were not there for the food, (by the way pulled pork should be pulled not giant hunks of pork in a roll, we called it - not so pulled pork)
This was the first time I've ever seen at show at BB Kings and I have to say I would definately go back. The venue is small and very intimate. I've been a Styx fan since before high school probably since around 1987. Dennis DeYoung's voice was just as good now as it was then. I would definately go see him again if he was playing in this area. As a matter of fact I also have tickets to see Styx at Bergen Pac in August. All I can say is if you see a Dennis DeYoung show advertised - buy tickets it will be well worth it!!
As with every year, Dennis DeYoung's show was outstanding! This year was especially good as the show was acoustic which was completely different than in past years. Dennis is the ultimate entertainer, engaging the audience and really connecting with everyone in the room.
Dennis was great. I would of loved to hear more of his classic hits. Glen burtnik, never heard of him but he was great as well. He is very talented. The one thing I did not like is that they had a heckler in the audience that the BB king security let go on for a while before they finally kicked him out. I will go to see dennis when he is back in the area. Love the bb king venue!!
What a great show and a great night ! Dennis and they guys sounded excellent. My friends and I enjoyed every song. Dennis was so engaging with the audience too.
Dennis Deyoung's trio was amazing, better than I had expected. Dennis is a great song writer, singer, pianist, and overall performer. They jammed pretty well for performing "acousticly" Dennis is full of energy and funny quips. I was glad I got to see him at a venue as intimate as BB King's Blues Club NYC. If you like Styx, don't hesitate to see this show!
I really enjoyed this show. His vocals were spot on perfect and his piano playing was better than I expected as well. Took me back to school days when life wasn't as complicated and song list was spot on.
This was a great show, he had a lot of energy, made it very personalized to the audience and had a lot of passion.
I was a little skeptical about just Dennis without the Styx members, but his voice is absolutely fantastic! Every song was just over the top. The entire crowd loved the show and you left with a wow that was great show feeling!
The 1st time we saw Styx in concert was apx. 30 years ago. The music was incredible and left a lasting memory. We looked forward to seeing Dennis Deyoug at BB Kings. He did not disappoint! Our only complaint is that we would have preferred to hear MORE of Dennis and less of the trio. Sorry. They were good but we were there for Dennis.
This was my first experience at B.B. Kings. I have seen both Dennis with and without Styx, and I have seen Styx both with and without Dennis. Styx is a much weaker band without Dennis. Dennis apologized many times for his lack of preparation, as he had been ill prior to the concert, but it humaized his performance and made it far more intimate as being at B.B. Kings was like having Dennis play in my livingroom. His voice was as always spot on and the supporting band members add a real flavor to the event. Overall an awesome performance that I was fortuante enough to share with my wife and 19 year old son, who is becoming a bigger Dennis fan than I am. Enough said.
