DELTRON 3030 IN CONCERT:

Fans of forward-thinking hip hop received quite a treat in 2013 when conceptual supergroup Deltron 3030 returned to deliver their sophomore album Event 2. It had been 13 years since Dan the Automator, Del the Funky Homosapien, and Kid Koala dropped their futuristic self-titled debut album, but it was worth the wait --  Event 2 and the accompanying tour were the stuff of legend, highlighting the group's knack for cutting edge sounds and next-level performances. Deltron 3030 may hail from another millennium, but fans can catch them in the present on their must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Deltron 3030 was formed in 1999 by rap legend Del the Funky Homosapien and producers Dan the Automator and Kid Koala. The group's conceptual 2000 debut album told the story of an epic battle between Deltron Zero (Del's alter ego) and a cabal of evil corporations out to suppress hip hop. The highly creative, sample-heavy album was a hit with critics and fans, landing on numerous year-end lists and peaking at No. 13 on BIllboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart.  As the group's members continued to pursue their own projects in the mid-'00s, rumors of the pending release of their sophomore album began to swirl as early as 2006. It wasn't until 2013 that the highly anticipated album Event 2 hit shelves, once again winning over critics with an arsenal of special guest appearances from performers Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zack De La Rocha, and Damon Albarn. Veteran entertainers who know how to get the party started, Deltron 3030 continue to treat fans to a taste of the future on their unforgettable tours.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"From the opening act to the final song there was passion in this music. Del the funky Homosapien rocked the mic, Kid Koala kept the beat rocking on 3 turntables, and Dan the Automator kept the crowd moving to it all. Just an amazing show. "

"Nothing more needs to be said other than these guys know how to put out a fun, high-quality show. You can't help but enjoy yourself the entire time."

"Amazing show! Blown away by Del's energy, Kid Koala's enthusiasm and Dan the Automator's smoothness. They blended together and preformed like we were seeing them in 2000. Don't miss this show!"

    Just plain awesome!

by LanceF on 12/3/13House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

I've been listening to and wanting to see Deltron 3030 for over a decade. As if just getting a 2nd album wasn't enough, getting to see them blew away any hopes and expectations I had. Del was one of the best performers I've ever seen, and I've seen some great artists/performers. Any future chances I get to see them (together or apart) I'll definitely make it happen. Thank you Del, thank you Dan, and thank you Eric!

Deltron 3030 was awesome. So glad to catch them at the new Crocodile. Del is a machine on the mic. I have a crush on Dan the Automator now.

by LanPitts on 10/27/13Masquerade - Atlanta

for under $30, these guys basically performed all their hits and even Koala did an awesome dj session. Money well spent.

Deltron and Kid Koala truly amazing!

by StoneDiam on 10/22/13House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Del has not done much in the last 10 years but you could not tell last Sat. He had an orchestra on stage as well as Kid Koala laying down beats and Dan The Automator conducting.

    Unforgettabely bad sound... very disappointed

by generalsnus on 10/11/13Paradise Rock Club - Boston

The sound was terrible - Unbalanced. The sound was so awful, it was hard to evaluate the showmanship accurately, which 'seemed' lackluster and uninspired. I stayed until the end, but had much higher expectations. It wasn't my location, as I made sure to travel throughout to try to get a better view and better sound. I'm a huge fan, and very disappointed.

    Coulda been longer

by nsolarz on 10/11/13Paradise Rock Club - Boston

While I liked the concert, I have two main issues. 1: Deltron took forever to come on. Kid Koala performed a 30 min DJ sesh till 10, which was really great. Then we waited for 45 minutes before Del et al finally came on stage. The stage was set up, so theres really no obvious reason why they couldn't come on sooner 2: and maybe if they did come on sooner, we could have gotten more than an hour long set. They finally came on at 10:45, and were out (after the encore) by 11:50. Its not like they didnt have the songs to fill more time, they had two albums to pull from. They distinctly missed some of their hits off the old album too While it was nice to finally see them live, I was left wanting more. What they did perform was great, the energy was good (Save for del basically being a robot and shutting down between tracks).
