Event is very well organized and run by staff and volunteers alike. Everyone makes you feel very welcome and seems truly pleased that you have attended. Practice days allow wonderful, close access to the players who go out of their way to accomodate fan's wishes. General parking is a long way away from the event, but buses are plentiful and prompt.
We really enjoyed watching the golfers up close enough to recognize them again. Sat where we had a great view of the ninth green, the electronic score board, the mountains and no one infront of us. Had a wonderful day. The transportation to and from the event and the parking was very good.
Great entertainment! The best possible setup for viewing excellent golf--plenty of bleachers, porta-potties, leader boards, etc--and awesome scenery everywhere you look. Relatively small attendance makes seeing champs easy.
Everything about the day was perfect , the weather, parking, the shuttle service to the event and watching the golfers.
We have been to the event before abd it is very well organized. We park at the site just off I-10 pay our $5.00 which is very reasonable and ride in style right up to the front door. Can't get better than that. We are Canadians and so of course we watched everyone tee off but when Mike Weir teed off we followed him around until he won his match on the 12th hole 8 and 6..... He put on an amazing putting show had 8 birdies in 9 holes....He is such a nice young man. Then we laid on the grass at different holes watching other players until all was done. The only thing is that I wish they did not allow was people SMOKING cigars on the grounds cigarettes are bad enough but cigars are just gross..... I must add the only people I saw on cell phones were the women so they must bring them in their huge purses they carry along....
Staff was excellent. Six dollars for a Pepsi (priceless.)
The drive to Dove Mountain was easy ,parking great. The shuttles were many ,and the Hosts were excellent .Had a wonderful time.
Have to say the weather and course were beautiful. The players were very friendly to everyone on the practice day. The biggest problem was that so few actually showed up to practice. It was the general comment that was heard on the course. Where was everyone? The Walter Hagen club is a nice venue, however, the ongoing litany was very few golfers coming through on the 13th on practice day. The other complaint was that the prices of the food were reasonable, but I most say that my hamburger was below lukewarm in temp the bun actually cold. The salad was good size and reasonable but looked a bit like it was made a couple of days before and all iceberg lettuce except for the toppings. Would I pay extra for entrance again -- doubt it -- but then again did not visit the public eating areas. I think if I attend again I would attend when all 64 would be there and there was a schedule -- forget the Walter Hagen.
What a venue - makes me want to take up golf again. The weather was fantastic and the players were all cordial. The staff and volunteers were "A#1", we'll be back next year!!
security went great, bus ride was short enough, crowds were small, access to players was fantastic! nice viewing areas, range was great, food was adequate, topped off by great weather!!! having the parking pass was nice...
This event is better than Phoenix Open. Our family really enjoyed this.
It was great to sit in a covered space with food and drink readily available. The views of the course were very good.
Okay , let me get this right. We arrive at 8:00 am and it was 40 degrees, so we had on layers (coat, sweatshirts, rain pants, etc) then by 10:00 am it was beautiful so we took off the layers. Where in the heck are we suppose to put those layers. SINCE THIS YEAR THEY HAVE OUTLAWED BACKPACKS..BOOO!
