Death of a Salesman was phenomenal!!

From my entrance into Wells Theater and seeing the set display to the Q&A session directly following the second act, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Virginia Stage Company and Chris Hannah did a wonderful job making the production feel fresh and relevant. All parents should be required to see it!!

Death Of A Salesmen was excelent

by Patrickkaren on 3/5/12Wells Theatre - Norfolk

I recommend seeing a play at the Wells Theater to everyone. The actors were superb in there performance, the lighting and set were well done. The theater it's self was charming yet comfortable. The intermission was just enough time to partake of a beverage and get back to your seat for the second act. A fine night on the town for my wife and I. The price of a movie ticket for two, popcorn and a drink were comparable in cost. to seeing a live play by just a few dollars more, but well worth the price.

    Unforgettable Willy Loman

by Dickenslover on 2/27/12Wells Theater - Norfolk

This was an astounding performance in a vintage theater. The characters were all engaging from the beginning and had the unique ability to move the audience through their complex emotions while making it seem easy. Never dreamed that Tracy Griswold would become the Willy Loman that I first met in high school literature class but Willy will never appear in my head as anyone other than Mr. Griswold after seeing his performance!

    Death of a Salesman

    by colleen1 on 2/27/12Wells Theatre - Norfolk

The Wells Theatre is, in itself, a visual treat. One of our friends had never been, so he thoroughly enjoyed checking out the decor before the performance began. The actors were well- fitted for their parts, and each seemed to have grasped the essence of the role as well as that of the entire play. The scenery was eye-catching and an obviously facile way to show simultaneous actions. The one drawback ---and it is a big one -- was the acoustics, which were POOR. Whenever the characters were inside the home, the sound went right up through the ceiling of whichever floor they were on. Even when the characters were outside the home, only when they were center stage was the dialogue clear (and loud enough to be heard without straining). Is there some reason that the actors did not use body mikes?

This is definitely a must see play. The characters are so real, they pull you right into their emotions! The set was great, and the lighting made you feel like you were actually indoors or outdoors. Fantastic cast & crew.
