Awful awful worst than awful. Rapid City is a class act.Seats were good. However , this was the WORST arena I've ever been. The fans are rude and violent we moved to the other side of the ice because of threatening comments. This has to be one of the poorest programs in the CHL. Hara Arena sucks. ! As do the Gems' fans.
It was a good time and well worth the money. I am a Gems fan for sure now
I moved to Dayton a couple years ago from Cincinnati area, so always a big Cyclones fan, had never been to Hara Arena or a Gems event, neither had my boyfriend or his 14 yr old son, so I got online, saw opening night, home game & went for it. We had a great time, the 3 of us. Purchased a Gems hat for my boyfriends son & plan to look online for more items to purchase for the next time we go to another game. More perfect, there were a couple fights & they Won!!
Awesome Game excellent action!!! I will go again!!
It was a great time!!! Seats were perfect felt like we were in the game.
Although the Gems lost it was a great experience. It was my first time to watch them and I will definately be back. The crowd was great and the music was very entertaining.
Facilities just 'ok'. Seemed old and outdated. Game started 30min late due to broken glass. Parking $5. Tickets overpriced for minor leagues. Would not go again
Although the game was great, the venue had a lot to be desired. I've been to hockey games all over the country and I must say Hara Arena was the worst place I've been in. Not because it was old but because it was so cold you could see your breath. We were freezing before the 1st period was over. Come on people, if you wanna save a buck do it some other way other than turning your heat off! Other hocky arenas are warm enough to sit there in a sweatshirt so I know better. It was at least 40 in there. That's outrageous! I'll never go back an likely won't go to anything else there either.
What a game.. The Gems really showed their talent. Never left a point unanswered. Left with 3 minutes in the game with the Gems ahead. Found out that the game ended in a shoot out! We will go back for the excitement and the fans. They really added to the fun. The seats were on the glass.. so we will be looking for seats a bit higher up to catch all the action.
The Gems played an exciting game Friday. Hadn't been to a game since I was a kid and loved every minute. The atmosphere was friendly and clean. Lots of special events for the fans and especially for the kids. Great place to take the family.
A little worried about taking my kids to a hockey game at Hara. I was wrong all the way, it was a family friendly event. The fans were well behaved and the Hara staff was friendly and helpful. The facility was very clean also! And for small time hockey, we saw a very good game! My only complaint was the prices at the snack bar. ($3.50 for a 12oz. soda???) If you want the GEMS to survive make it afordable to bring the family. There is $1.00 beer night, why not family night with $1.00 popcorn, hot dogs and soda?
Super easy to have print tickets off and have them scanned at the door. SUPER COLD!!!! Yes, it's a hockey game, but bathrooms need to be heated! I think we might have a real shot with keeping this team. It's looking great!
Was a fair event. Needed a bigger crowd and more going on in the stands, etc.
High energy. Skillful playing. Great entertainment value.
This was our second gems game and just as good as the first. It is way more hard-hitting and faster paced than the NHL and its minor leagues and it is a great atmosphere. When we got to the game we were surprised to see Bryan Smolinski there, who has had a pretty good career in the NHL. It is cool to see the stars of tomorrow and the stars of the past that show up. I would always recommend a hockey game of any sort and I hope you go see one.
November 30 years ago my dates Dad told me she liked Hockey...She bought the tickets I paid for our meal...3 children and 5 grandchildren later yes 30 years and I think I injoyed the game more this time than I did 30 years ago. The action was non stop the officials let the game play and both teams were very active...The entertainment between periods was great and the GEMS won ( my wife says they didn't last time I don't remember but don't tell her)...BLADE's antics were very funny and entertaining and seats were great 'Gold, Center Ice'. Bought her an away jersey and can't wait to go back and get a home jersey, it won't be 30 years this time...
We have date night once a month, and decided to do this. We paid $18.00 a ticket, and had front row seats. The "Away" team showed up at 8:30, and our tickets said 7pm. So the came started at about 8:50. It wasn't a season game, I think it was titled "Exhibition" game. The Dayton Gems were surprisingly good, though you wouldn't know it by their jerserys. :-) A couple of fights broke out which is always entertaining, and my husband got a free puck. My only complaint is that the Hara Arena doesn't exept debit/credit, so we were stuck with no hot chocolate or beer, and it was really cold. Other than that we recommend it, and support Dayton sports
