This was the best rock concert experience for me because it was in a small venue, and it was intimate. The place was filled with real Days of the New fans. The audience was friendly, I talked to someone next to me about the upcoming Alice in Chains concerts in March. When Travis finally came out, he was a bit late, and I admit, I think we were all shocked by his appearance. To say he was thin was an understatement. I couldnt stop looking at when happened to this incredibly handsome man, it was very sad. He started the set with 10 minutes of acoustic medleys. Then, he started chatting with the audience and never stopped! He shared what was going on with his plans for the new album, he commented on his appearance on Intervention, and he passed around his personal notebook to get everyone's email address. His vocals were unreal. At moments, I was just staring at him in amazement. There were about 6 guitars set up on stage. His bass player was great and the drummer was playing on the biggest drum set I've ever seen, complete with bongo drums and a triangle. He ended by doing a cover of a Doors song. He was personable and made eye contact and smiled at the audience members - I was in the front row and he smiled at me a few times as I sang along to "Touch, Peel and Stand." He interacted with his other band members as if he were conducting an orchestra - he is definitely a mastermind. I just hope he stays healthy.
