Great evening of jazz. The only negative that I saw was a lack of a rhythm section, but great sounds nontheless!
Entire event was Fun, Lively and Musical. Great setting also. Love the informal ambiance. Benoit was his always magical self and Culbertson just let the energy flow from his fingers. Also, both were very appreciative of the audience
Cannot believe the songs they played, heard almost everything we wanted to, from old to new and everything in between. Could have been a bit longer (approx 1 1/2 hours) , but after watching their hands i can imagine how tired they were.
I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SHOW AND WHEN IT GOT STARTED IT WAS OVER IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE. I MEAN FOR THE MONEY PAID FOR PARKING AND THE ENTRANCE FEE YOU WOULD THINK 2 HOURS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE MINIMUM TO REALLY GET A CHANCE TO ENJOY HIS PERFORMANCE. I WILL THINK TWICE NEXT TIME BEFORE I COME TO ANOTHER SHOW.
Being an avid smooth jazz and musician as well as record collector,I appreciate musicians who are really themselves on stage. It's no easy feat. David benoit has been performing in excess of 30 years and his professionalism and sound are impeccable. His style and way of playing especially articulated sections help to infuse energy in all of his works. His performance tonight was one in where everyone is a part of the concert. You not only get music, but also commentary, description and background info for those who may not be aware. In addition to playing Vince Guaraldi's music he also played a couple of his own which are many to name but the songs in particular "Freedom At Midnight" and "Beat Street" were played flawlessly and as we musicians call "tight". Real classy, a great performing and a stimulating show . . . for all ages! David Benoit you can't go wrong worth every penny.
Good show but $75 a seat for 1:15 show? David Benoit great butcouldn't see him from our VIP booth
A wonderful holiday show. This is the third time we have come to BB Kings to see David Benoit's A Charlie Brown Christmas. Always a great evening David Benoit is fantastic! We will be back next year!
Jon Nakamatsu and David Benoit made a great pair. Though I wouldn't say that either artist lacks, together they really brought the show to a new level. Because of logistics, the show seemed a little rushed (and started late).
David and his and sounded great! His vocalist had an amazing voice, and the childrren's choir was a nice touch. You cannot go wrong attending this show. It definately put me in the Holiday spirit. It was relaxing, enjoyable, and the sound was excellent.
Very skillful performance from David Benoit, as expected. The other players are good too. Overall it's a standard fusion jazz show, but a short one if you think about the price. Could be better if something excited is planned.
Show was very short. Energy level was low and David did not play as many X-mas songs as I had anticipated.
First time seeing hm and I was not disappointed. Will make a point of seeing him again.
This was a Birthday present for our Sister-in-law and it was very much enjoyed by all.
David Benoit is just simply amazing. It's just not Christmas for me until I start playing his "Charlie Brown" CD.
We went to see David Benoit and he gave an amazing show. The bass, drummer and singer was wonderful. It was a perfect show for the holidays. In addition, he had a children's chorus (I think St. Luke's?) that really added the holiday spirit on a few pieces. I would see this show again and make it a annnual holiday must see.
This is my first time seeing David Benoit in concert. It was fine but I don't think I'll be buying tickets to see him again. All songs that were covers sounded like they were being played intentionally fast. His original stuff off his new album was the best part of the show. Unfortunately we were sitting near a speaker at Jazz Alley that was being over-driven and it really distorted the sound. Overall, this was nice but not great.
